It's a simple thing, I would think. But I particularly only want hotels to shower, sleep in a bed with a comfortable temperature, charge, and use wifi. Somehow, the wifi absolutely sucks and there's a different one for each room. In a time when you can get internet from satellites, there is zero excuse to need to use my phone data in a hotel inside a major city in a developed country

This hotel has a certain style. The rooms were more like dutch rooms. The beds in our room were very high. The elevator had an old-fashioned feel with a dial that pointed to the floor. This hotel is a bit further away from a lot of shops etc. But it's only a few minutes' walk to a convenience store and about ten to fifteen minutes to china town or a restaurant area

Amazing location of the hotel. Very nice lobby and hotel facilities. Beautiful and cozy room. Comfortable bed. Modest but nice room amenities. Wooden blinds and shutters, very original and very effective (perfect silence and darkness). Beautiful view from the window. Bathroom was a classic size like most other hotels in Japan, but the bathtub was quite large. And the ventilation of the bathroom was perfect. Of all the hotels I've experienced in my month-long stay in Japan, this was the best place.

Awesome stay, also nearby you have an Indian restaurant "Mughal Mahal" if you want to have indian food.

Enjoyed our stay at Monterey. The bed was uncomfortable for me and a little tight for 2 people. Shower was strong and refreshing. The coffee in the room was strong and good. Room was a little dark. Service was what you expected from a Japanese hotel, excellent. Breakfast was also very good.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel. Attention to detail is present throughout the hotel. It has a Portuguese style architecture and design. It is in a good area close to Oura Cathedral. Breakfast is very good and has excellent variety. The staff are accommodating, kind, professional, and friendly. This hotel is highly recommended.

Love this quaint little hotel. The deco is so very old Dutch flair. Price is very good value for money. The room was comfortable and clean. Best to reserve a car park in advance as the parking is in the basement and you need to call the reception to open the elevator and guide you into the carpark. Location wise is good. Just 2 minutes walk to station and 8 minutes walk to Oura church and surrounding sights.

Nice location (close to many convenient stores and tram station) Rooms are very small, but aircond is working very well! The cleaning service needs to be improved though... The staff members can't really speak English If you're low on budget, I can suggest it. If you have enough money look for a better place ! No breakfast given, only bottle of water everyday.

Yelp
This hotel is run like a five-star property. It is close to the tram system (several lines) and taking a one-day pass at a time is a great option. It is a well-planned and convenient city. The beds were oh so comfy, spotlessly clean - and an overall nice place. Breakfast was good - lots of fish choices, Japanese food and some Western-style food. The hotel has a Portuguese theme. I was very impressed with this location and can highly recommend it as a reliable place to stay.

Yelp
Hotel Monterey Nagasaki fulfills one rule for all hotels, just like the real estate market: location location location. It is right next to the port, so if you want to go to Hashima Island (a must see when you are in Nagasaki) it is just a 5 minutes' walk. If you want to go to the peace museum, it is only half an hour away walking and taking the tram. And it is only 860 ¥ in taxi from Nagasaki train Station. It is a really cheap hotel and very very clean. Of course, in that hotel, as in any other hotel in Japan that is not 300 dollars a night, you will feel like a giant in the room. No major problem with the wifi, I could get some work done even though it got slow sometimes. I strongly recommend the Nagasaki Monterey Hotel for your next holidays in Nagasaki. As a tip, they also sell the day pass for trams, best value if you'll take it more than 4 times in a day.

Yelp
During my walks (literally) around Nagasaki City, I came across a hidden quaint hotel. What a place! compact, cute and so Mediterranean looking. I asked to see a sample room for the visit of my son and his wife. I was very impressed with the room and the mini-tour, and on such short notice mind you I just crossed the threshold of the Hotel Monterey out of curiosity. The lobby WiFi did not disappoint, very clear and reliable. I also noticed a section adjacent to the lobby reserved for bridal snapshots ... chapel looking and a facade stair case to boot. Looks like this hotel has taste!

Yelp
Perfect hotel and excellent restaurant with Italian food like carpaccio from fish, good steak with truffle sauce, grunt saute, etc
