We stayed on the top floor of La Ermita Suite while in Córdoba. Javier graciously introduced us to the history of the building and showed us how to use the room key to access the property when the front desk was closed. The apartment is beautifully renovated, impeccably clean, spacious, and quiet, and it’s just a short walk from the Mezquita and other major sights.
Be careful when returning to the apartment from the terrace off the living area—the doorway is lower than expected, and I learned this the hard way. From the terrace, you can glimpse the tips of the cathedral and the bell tower (see photo). One small practical note: the hangers in the closets are too wide for the space and, while a minor detail, felt slightly out of keeping with the overall quality of the suite.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Nestled within Córdoba’s narrow streets, we felt for a time as though we were living in the long shadow of the Mosque–Cathedral, where history feels less like the past and more like a living presence.
