A beautiful hotel in a wonderful settling. The bedroom and bathrooms are super-modern. There is a stunning but small pool, with good seating. The main block is an absolutely stunning design. The only negative is that instant coffee is in the bedrooms rather than an espresso machine. Breakfast was very tasty, whereas the dinner quality varied. There were good vegetarian options.

The rooms and views were spectacular, making it worth the visit. Luona at the restaurant was superb and truly enhanced our experience. She was so knowledgeable about the wines and friendly. I will never forget her! She is a fabulous asset to the hotel.||On the other hand, for a “wine experience” hotel, this was not much of a wine experience. We asked well in advance to do a proper tasting/experience at the hotel and they could not offer us anything and were not very helpful. We then asked if they had recommendation of private tours we could do from the hotel and they gave us the information of a guy named Miguel, who was incredible. Highly recommend his services for a personalized day trip, away from the hotel. ||We felt like every time we asked for something, the answer was “no”. Can we have a second towel at the pool? No. Can we have a water at reception? No. Can we use the hot tub? Yes, but you have to pay for a swim cap. Paid for the swim cap, and it wasn’t even a “hot” tub.||Overall, we had a great stay. There were some very simple things that could have increased the quality of service.

We had a truly amazing stay. The grounds are stunning, the wine is delicious, and the room was a dream. We had room 41, a wine experience suite with its own pool which is so convenient when you have a kid! The hotel is exactly what you see, a place to unplug and relax. It is not the hotel to go if you want to go on an exploratory mission every day outside the hotel, although a short trip to porto and amarante are very quick and near. We ordered room service and everything was absolutely delicious every single time! The breakfast every morning was vast and even though it was pretty much the same you had so much selection that you could combine different things every day and have a completely new breakfast experience every time. It’s really not that complicated to get to the hotel, as other reviews state, yes it’s hilly but so is most of Portugal, so if you’re coming to the country, just know you will encounter lots of hills everywhere even in the big cities like Porto and Lisbon. To get to the hotel as long as you follow the GPS you will get there with no issues. This is a gem, come here to relax and unplug. Our 3 year old had a blast, and was so happy to just enjoy the area. The spa was also marvelous, my husband and I did the Candlelight spa and it’s a top one for sure. We also did the wine experience with juice tasting for our son, he had so much fun and the lady that was doing the tour was very nice to him and personalized it for him so he felt involved at all times! LOVED MONVERDE!

Really nice location, the rooms are located in 3 buildings on the property, within 3 minutes walking distance to the main building, where the Spa and the restaurant are located. Our room was spacious, but could be in a better shape. The white and rose wines are really good. The breakfast was ok. For me the restaurant is too pricy and I recommend not to book half board but to order a la carte instead. The small Spa is nice, you have to wear bathing cap inside. Overall a really nice location but below my expectations for a 4 star hotel and the price we paid.

We stayed in Room 15, a Wine Experience Suite with a large balcony offering views over the vineyard. |The room was one of the best we have stayed in. Huge windows and lovely decor and design.|The grounds are expansive with the central building housing the reception, restaurant, bar and spa. It might not look much on the outside but it's a big and beautiful building inside. The pictures perhaps don't do it as much justice as it deserves. |The hotel rooms are in different parts of the grounds, a short walk away from the main building. Some are a little further away than others, but the furthest away was a pleasant 7min walk. For us, the size of the site was all part of the charm as it felt quiet and isolated a lot of the time.|The staff said they will happily pick you up in a golf cart if you wanted, but we didn't need to utilise it so not sure how reliable/quick it is. There is a large car park near the main building as well as smaller car parks at each of the other buildings. ||The staff in general were fantastic. We had booked a wine tasting experience but on the day my wife was ill but they let us cancel without charging which was really appreciated as they didn't have to.|We took the half board option. Breakfast was really good with a variety of different foods, hot and cold. The dinners were good - without being exceptional. There was a choice of 2 or 3 options for each course so as long as you aren't fussy, you'll probably find something you like.|The spa was great. The first day we were there it was really busy (and really hot) and hard to get a chair outside and the pool was full. Worth noting that you need to wear a swim cap for the indoor pool (I didn't as I have no hair). They do sell caps there if needed but at a premium.|The next 2 days were much quieter outside and we easily managed to get a chair with umbrella/shade.|FYI. The sat nav in our hire car didn't take us to the door, but there are blue signs directing you when you get close. You will certainly need a car to get there but the roads aren't that bad... I've certainly driven on much worse! |Overall we had a fantastic time at Monverde and it's great for a peaceful and relaxing retreat. |

My husband and I spent two nights at Hotel Monverde and we both commented we wished our trip had allowed us to spend more time there. We booked a "Vineyard Experience" room and the views were absolutely stunning. The room was nice and spacious with plenty of closet space, and the bathroom was large as well. The grounds of the hotel are stunning, we enjoyed one afternoon by the pool. We ate at the restaurant both nights for dinner and had such a lovely experience. We were able to sit outside on the patio and we both really enjoyed the food. Dining there is an experience and you do not feel rushed at all. We also did a wine tasting with a food pairing and we learned so much. Absolutely recommend if you're looking for a hotel in this region.

We stayed at this exquisite boutique hotel for 3 nights to celebrate a special birthday with friends. The room was very comfortable and with a huge window overlooking the vines so we felt we were in the middle of nowhere, yet the restaurant and spa were just a minute’s walk away. The architecture is very interesting, the spa was great and the food was excellent. Friendly and efficient staff who greeted us with a glass of local espumante . We did not take advantage of the wine tasting opportunities but heard they are great. We would definitely go back.

Yelp
Beautiful location right on the vineyard. Full service hotel with spa, wine tasting, great food and excellent staff. Rooms are exceptional and a full breakfast is included in the main dining room. It's called a wine experience for a reason!!! From the moment we checked in we were welcomed with a glass of champagne. After check in, we went to the room, which was spacious, spotless and absolutely lovely. A bottle of champagne was on ice in the sitting area with a nice welcome note. Everything in this hotel was a 5 star experience. If this hotel was in Napa, it would easily be $1000 a night. So IMO, it's an exceptional value. The main are of the hotel has beautiful sitting areas with fire places. It's relaxing and calming. Besides the amazing wines, the food was very good. At dinner, the Sommelier paired wine with our dishes which was a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when they pick you up by tuk tuk to take you the restaurant and then back to your room after dinner. The pool and spa are also a nice touch to complete this experience. I highly recommend this hotel. If you want to feel pampered and a little bougie this is the place.

Yelp
This hotel is such a beauty! Directly in the vineyards, the hotel is composed of different small buildings for the rooms and other facilities. All of them surrounded by the calming and gorgeous view of perfectly straight rows of plush, green vines. Our room was very modern and comfortable with a full wall window facing a view I won't forget. Even on the second night, it seemed as exciting as the first. I can't get enough of this place. It may take some time to find all the light and decipher all the switches and options but if you have trouble, the staff is very friendly and keen to help you. On our arrival we were greeted with a very welcoming glass of their own sparkling and they also brought our bags directly in our rooms while we were checking in. If you don't want to walk to your room, you can always ask for a ride in their golf carts. We did came back pretty late in the evening, but each night we gathered with our group in the lobby bar on the first floor of the main building. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. He made very pleasing recommendations and they had very interesting choices. I hope I get to go back.

Yelp
I believe this listing is misspelled and it should be "Monverde Hotel" instead of Monteverde. We booked 2 rooms in June. The hotel is in a vineyard, you may see people picking grapes or working on the vineyard as you open your window blinds in the morning. They offer a very personal check-in experience with a glass of complementary wine. After checking in, we had a tour of the property. The hotel has several small buildings, our rooms were separated from the main building. The architecture is very modern but it fits the landscape beautifully, taking advantage of all natural elements, stone and wood. The rooms are very spacious, modern and comfortable. The bed and pillows were amazing! Great bathroom and amenities. Easy free parking. Exceptional service at the front desk by Daniel. Breakfast is included and has a great variety. The only thing that almost ruined our stay was a family with 8 small children running around like they owned the place (8!) My only disappointment was at the restaurant. Besides the dining room manager, there were only 2 other waiters, both obviously lacking training as this was their first week - they never knew how to answer our questions. Very slow service, 2 of the wines we picked were unavailable. The food was pricey but well prepared. Very nice place for a romantic getaway. If you like hiking, try Passadiços do Paiva, about 1 hour away.
