I chose Monverde after researching for months to find the perfect place to celebrate my sister's big birthday. From the second we arrived I knew I'd picked the perfect place. The hotel is stunning, the views from the terrace and our room (Vineyard Experience) were just breathtaking. The pool area was great & nothing beats eating outside with an incredible sunset. But what makes this place so special is the staff. Literally nothing is too much trouble. They are helpful, friendly and so attentive. We had a wonderful time. Perhaps one tip would be to have breakfast (excellent) but not necessarily half board. Some of the food was fabulous, & there was plenty, but the odd main course wasn't great & as a veggie there was only one choice on the set menu. Luckily I'm not too fussy & never went hungry. That was a minor thing though, this place is magical - we would definitely return.

Well. This was a great choice in the trip round Portugal. The pictures on homepage and social media didn’t mislead at all. This place is STUNNING! We were welcomed by staff and given sparkling wine to enjoy while we did the paperwork. Our room was a couple of hundred meters from main building (restaurant, bar, pool etc) and it was made it feel like we weren’t in a hotel. Ate two great dinners where the staff made us feel like we were regulars all while giving us great food with equal great wine pairing. My resting heart rate dropped a few beats a minute while staying here. And I am definitely coming back.

Stayed a few nights at Monverde with friends while we enjoyed wine tasting at Quinta da Lixa and other nearby wineries. The hotel is well-designed new construction located in very scenic vineyards. There is a main hotel building with check-in, the restaurant, and some rooms - and then there are other villas and room complexes dotted around the property. We really enjoyed spending time by the beautiful pool in such an idyllic spot. Our rooms in the vineyard were very private and quiet. Only negative was there were more small children than expected at a "wine" experience hotel which led to some less peaceful times at the pool.

Monverde was PHENOMENAL! True concierge-level service from start to finish. We stayed in a Wine Experience Suite with our own private pool, which was such a dream. We enjoyed every activity they offered — the vineyard tour, bottling our own wine, and the 4-course wine pairing dinner were all unforgettable. Every detail was thoughtful, the property is stunning, and the experience felt truly once-in-a-lifetime. Absolute perfection!

50 minutes drive from Porto, this an good place to relax while driking a glass of vino verde. The accomodation is spread around and within a vineyard with a central facility having restaurants, pools, spa etc. We stayed at house 16, which is a separate house in two floors. Excellent view from the terrace of the whole area. Very recommendable and not too expensive.

Disappointing and far from what was advertise I stayed here to celebrate my birthday, and it turned out to be a major letdown. I paid €252 for a room that looked nothing like the photos: no proper windows (except a small one in the bathroom), full of cold air drafts poorly covered, a useless blackout curtain that let in morning light, rotting wooden floors, and even large spiders in the room. The shower was unusable — badly installed right above the soap holder, making it nearly impossible to shower without getting hurt. I complained to reception, and their solution was to offer me another room… for an additional €50 to €250. I had also booked spa access and a wine tasting, which were decent but didn’t make up for the overall poor experience. In the end, they refused to give me an invoice, and no one asked if everything was okay. The place may be beautiful, but the service and customer care are seriously lacking. I won’t return — and I don’t recommend it.

Very disappointing — especially on my birthdayI paid for a night in a room that looked like a repurposed stable: no proper windows, several air drafts badly covered by a blackout curtain that let in morning light, rotting wooden floors, and large spiders in the room. The shower was placed so poorly (literally above the soap holder) that it was impossible to shower without hurting myself.I complained at reception, but was told the hotel was fully booked. Later I received an email offering a suite… for an extra €250. After complaining again, they offered by email a “prestige” room for €50 more — by then, I was already very disappointed.I had also booked a wine tasting and spa session, which were fine but didn’t make up for the overall experience. In the end, they refused to give me an invoice, and no one even asked if I was satisfied. The location may be beautiful, but the service and guest care were absolutely lacking. I will not return and cannot recommend it.

Google
Location is gorgeous. Rooms were very nice but could not get water at a consistent temperature for a shower. Either too hot or too cold. Service was very slow though good when you got someone’s attention. Just not enough people. People were very nice.

Yelp
Beautiful location right on the vineyard. Full service hotel with spa, wine tasting, great food and excellent staff. Rooms are exceptional and a full breakfast is included in the main dining room. It's called a wine experience for a reason!!! From the moment we checked in we were welcomed with a glass of champagne. After check in, we went to the room, which was spacious, spotless and absolutely lovely. A bottle of champagne was on ice in the sitting area with a nice welcome note. Everything in this hotel was a 5 star experience. If this hotel was in Napa, it would easily be $1000 a night. So IMO, it's an exceptional value. The main are of the hotel has beautiful sitting areas with fire places. It's relaxing and calming. Besides the amazing wines, the food was very good. At dinner, the Sommelier paired wine with our dishes which was a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when they pick you up by tuk tuk to take you the restaurant and then back to your room after dinner. The pool and spa are also a nice touch to complete this experience. I highly recommend this hotel. If you want to feel pampered and a little bougie this is the place.

Yelp
This hotel is such a beauty! Directly in the vineyards, the hotel is composed of different small buildings for the rooms and other facilities. All of them surrounded by the calming and gorgeous view of perfectly straight rows of plush, green vines. Our room was very modern and comfortable with a full wall window facing a view I won't forget. Even on the second night, it seemed as exciting as the first. I can't get enough of this place. It may take some time to find all the light and decipher all the switches and options but if you have trouble, the staff is very friendly and keen to help you. On our arrival we were greeted with a very welcoming glass of their own sparkling and they also brought our bags directly in our rooms while we were checking in. If you don't want to walk to your room, you can always ask for a ride in their golf carts. We did came back pretty late in the evening, but each night we gathered with our group in the lobby bar on the first floor of the main building. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. He made very pleasing recommendations and they had very interesting choices. I hope I get to go back.

Yelp
I believe this listing is misspelled and it should be "Monverde Hotel" instead of Monteverde. We booked 2 rooms in June. The hotel is in a vineyard, you may see people picking grapes or working on the vineyard as you open your window blinds in the morning. They offer a very personal check-in experience with a glass of complementary wine. After checking in, we had a tour of the property. The hotel has several small buildings, our rooms were separated from the main building. The architecture is very modern but it fits the landscape beautifully, taking advantage of all natural elements, stone and wood. The rooms are very spacious, modern and comfortable. The bed and pillows were amazing! Great bathroom and amenities. Easy free parking. Exceptional service at the front desk by Daniel. Breakfast is included and has a great variety. The only thing that almost ruined our stay was a family with 8 small children running around like they owned the place (8!) My only disappointment was at the restaurant. Besides the dining room manager, there were only 2 other waiters, both obviously lacking training as this was their first week - they never knew how to answer our questions. Very slow service, 2 of the wines we picked were unavailable. The food was pricey but well prepared. Very nice place for a romantic getaway. If you like hiking, try Passadiços do Paiva, about 1 hour away.
