The best thing about the Mora is the location. It’s only a short walk from the Prado and two other excellent museums and across the street from a perfect little botanical garden. The railroad station is also close, about five blocks. The front desk staff speak English well and were helpful. Those are the pros. The bathroom we had was actually the smallest one I have ever seen – – and I’ve seen plenty of small bathrooms in Europe. But with this one, the shower is so close to the toilet and sink that it’s tricky to turn around without hitting the shower’s glass wall. The sink was quite small and there was no other spot for putting toiletries. The room itself was also “intimate” even by European standards. There was no bureau, no drawers, no table except for one tiny bedside table. So the only place to store clothing was the wardrobe. The breakfast place on the first floor was also disappointing. Breakfast was included, but instead of the usual buffet approach, you needed to order from the menu. That in itself was an issue because no one on the wait staff spoke English and we only saw one menu in English on any of the tables in our five days there. So it was impossible to ask any questions about this or that menu choice. The food choices were OK at best.

Lovely people on reception. Room 406 was extremely comfortable and clean. Included breakfast was coffee and a croissant which was sufficient but if you wanted something more substantial it was available at an extra cost. An easy walk from Atocha train station and reasonably central for the city anyway. Definitely would stay here again.

The hotel is well located in Madrid, we only used public transport for airport transfer. They have 24hr front desk and the restaurant has limited operating hours. The room is very clean but I have two sugestions, the matresses needs an upgrade and the bathroom needs a towel hanger near the shower. I will go book in this hotel again.

The bed was a metal frame with an old spring mattress ( like the ones you will find on sofa beds). The heater did not work. The room was miniscule, even for European standards. But the worse was the breakfast! You get it from a place next door and what is included if you are a hotel guest is just one cup of coffee/ tea/ chocolate, 1 toast or 1 croissant, 1 glass of orange juice. And olive oil - you have to insist if you want butter. Anything else you may want, is extra and will be charged on the spot. Very unpleasant service. Other guests were complaining, too. The parking is located at another hotel, down the street, and costs actually 30 euros a day. The only good thing was the location. But, with several other hotels in the area, I will not be back to this one, for sure.

Fantastic location, 20 minutes from almost everything of turistic interest. Room was basic but comfortable enough, nice bathroom, everything very clean. There was'nt any noise coming from outside. Very friendly staff.

I stayed at this hotel several times, appreciating its central location. The rooms are small, carpeted, fairly clean. The bathtub/shower combo requires a great deal of effort to get into and out of, since they have a very awkwardly positioned glass partition. This last time, on my third night there I had a disappointing experience: an employee at the front desk stopped me and went on to interrogate me as to who I was and what was I doing there. He spoke with a heavy Russian accent, gave me incorrect info about my reservation and just had a nasty attitude. Like some KGB agent from a movie. Very unprofessional.

Great location, modern facilities, and the best... personalized attention to detail. The front desk is awesome. Also like resturant next to the hotel with a delciuous english breakfast!. All good.

Everything's amazing about Mora. It was a fabulous experience. The hotel is located in downtown Madrid where every great spot is near you. Carlos is one of the most kindest man I've ever met. Thank you again for this wonderful journey. Surely gonna come back to Mora Hotel.

Yelp
Great place with friendly staff. Some drawbacks are that there is one very small elevator and no control of temperature in rooms. We reserved 2 rooms and both of them were locked on heat. Caution - showers are tough to get in and out without slipping.

Yelp
This review is for the attached restaurant. This place is not a tourist trap. Nothing is in English, and it gets full. Luckily I speak Spanish so I was eager to try out the menu of the day. You choose from a generous selection one course of a starter, a main, and a dessert plus a bottle of wine for 10,25€ per person. I had the caldo Gallego which is a chicken broth based soup with greens and deliciously nasty bits of chicken hearts, pig ears, and greens. My main was ternero asado which is like roast beef with gravy and potatoes. Flan for dessert. Everything was homemade and delicious! I went back again the next day because the choices vary daily and it was near my hotel and got the mushroom lasagna starter and the mero (grouper) in tomato sauce. Flan again for dessert. The house wine was drinkable and just fine and they give you bread as well. Service was gruff one day and more pleasant the next day but I loved it. Directly across from the Prado Museum. An affordable gem among many expensive or touristy places. Great place for a meal before the museums or to walk off in the nearby Plaza del Retiro. You'll be stuffed but not broke!
