More of a large complex than a hotel, it has several blocks serviced by 3 pools, one of which is adult-only. It's located almost in the centre of town, making it easy to step out and sample the bars and restaurants beyond its curtilage. ||The hotel has an old-world colonial charm with super friendly and helpful staff. Our room was upgraded from an Executive to a Junior Suite. The extra space was welcome, though having seen our original room, that would have been more than enough for two. Everything was kept clean, both in and out of the rooms. ||Food and drink were good, with a well-attended Happy Hour in the bar each evening. We ate in the hotel a couple of evenings. The theme night buffet on Saturday is worth attending to get a sample of a lot of the local dishes without ordering blind from a menu.||The beach club is nice, though slightly pricey for lunch. Sunbeds are also charged if you're not on Half Board.||Breakfast was a little manic, with just about the right number of tables and guests. The staff were efficient at clearing tables. My only gripe is that the coffee was very poor, coming from a vending-type machine. No Espresso for breakfast.

YES, absolutely yes. Best hotel we stayed in Santa Maria. Good service, they make every guest feel special and important. The hotel are clean and comfortable. Looks luxurious with beautiful details and charm. Good bar, restaurant and brilliant breakfast. Definitely coming back here! Also the Morabeza beach club- BEST in Santa Maria by far!

This is the oldest hotel in Santa Maria and has an old classic feel to it, a wonderful setting right near the harbor. The service is excellent 👍. We didn't stay there ourselves, but we went to eat at their finedine restaurant. It was located on the second floor overlooking the swimming pool and the Santa Maria harbor/sea.

My husband & I celebrated our wedding anniversary here last week of September. Had an absolutely great time. Food was good. The staff were excellent, especially William & the porter on shift, when we arrived & throughout our stay😁. We were upgraded to a family suite on arrival, which was a nice surprise. It was spacious & clean. Breakfast was good, from a full on English breakfast to a great spread of cold & hot continental options. Hotel has 3 pools, one of them being adults only. Plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is situated at the heart of everything; restaurants, shops, excursions, bank & taxis. The beach is literally a minutes walk from the hotel. If you need to exchange currency, the exchange rate is good at the hotel, which we used frequently. Will definitely be returning soon.

First time I stayed at this hotel on Sal. It was a quiet period but that was quite nice actually... There was NO scramble for sunbeds 🙌🏼 not a single bed reserved 🙌🏼. There was a slight issue with my room when I first arrived, but that was sorted out straight away and I was happy with that. My room was spacious with a massive shower. Comfortable pillows. There are activities to get involved in along with an on site massage service, which was great. The staff in the hotel, at the bars and the cleaners, gardeners and security were all fantastic, so hardworking and really friendly. The hotel is right next to the beach and the hotel has it's own area on the beach. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and I'm sure I'll return. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend. Thank you Hotel Morabeza P.S. There are obviously locals trying to sell items to make money, if you don't want to purchase anything, just an understanding of their situation, a polite no and a smile is all that's needed. ☺️

Stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year. Fantastic location and setting right beside the ocean and minutes away from the town of Santa Maria. Staff, friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Denilston and his team in La Tortue bar/restaurant who were very welcoming, attentive and professional. Our room did need a refresh but it was cleaned daily and the ocean view made up for the basic decor. We enjoyed the beach bar daily and the food was great there too. The treatments in the spa were also excellent. We chose the Morabeza because it was a family owned boutique hotel and we are so glad. The staff made the festive period so magical and a great effort was made with the gala dinners and fireworks. We had the best time. Thank you so much for a fabulous ,memorable time. Highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return again.

This hotel undoubtedly has very good facilities - 3 pools, 3 restaurants/ bars, an excellent beach club - and is in a great location on the beachfront and near the main street of Santa Maria. We also had a good room and in general terms we had a good couple of days here. ||However the food and drink is overpriced; by way of example a bottle of the local wine Chã cost a third more than we paid elsewhere in Cape Verde.||Also we had a mix up with our pick up on departure, which demonstrated that the customer service did not match the facilities. Our driver turned up 45 minutes earlier than we had been told, and even although reception knew we’d checked out, were waiting for a driver and even had our luggage in their office, they let the driver leave without making any effort to find us. We were 50 yards away in the ONLY part of the hotel where you could get refreshments and they couldn’t be bothered to look!! So the driver left without us which could have had serious implications for our flight. Furthermore they were completely unapologetic, shrugging their shoulders and saying ‘they didn’t know where we were’!! Completely apathetic. ||If you want good service, try the Hotel Dunas de Sal who were so lovely and efficient when we were there and helped with a couple of issues we had. ||I agree with a number of the reviews that say the Morabeza is trading on its reputation - I don’t think the reception staff really care about customer service! Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend .
