I was first impressed by this hotel before we even arrived in Venice. I had emailed a few times for restaurant recommendations, directions, etc and I always received a detailed response back within minutes.
When we arrived, we were not disappointed. We were welcomed with a drink and snacks and even though it was very early, our room was waiting for us.
The room was very nice and spacious by European standards. The bed was very comfortable, the water pressure and temperature were great, and we had a canal view (room 109). Storage was adequate.
The breakfast buffet was also very nice, though the same every day. In addition to pastry, meats and cheeses, cereal, and fruit, there were eggs made to order.
The front desk service at the hotel was great - everyone was always very friendly and eager to help. In fact, Mirco was able to get us last minute restaurant reservations at La Lanterna (very good) after another restaurant turned us away despite having reservations (Antiche Carampane, do not recommend). Mirco did everything he could to get our original restaurant to honor our reservation, and when they refused, he immediately set to work on finding a new place.
The location of the hotel is ideal for arriving via train or bus, but not as close to many of the sights as we might have liked. Although I'd prefer to walk a little extra to the attractions than drag my luggage across the city! It really only was an issue at night after dinner when we were tired and didn't relish the idea of walking back.
There were a few areas for improvement:
- there was a half empty water bottle left in our mini fridge from a previous guest (water is complementary)
- our shower head was damaged
- although you can adjust the temperature in the room, there is a limited range available and we were slightly warm (just kept the windows open)
-service at breakfast was a bit disorganized and slow
Our only regret is that we were not able to participate in the hotel happy hour - but it looked like everyone was having a great time!
