Loved this historic hotel newly renovated. Rooms are beautiful. Bed was comfortable. Lots of pillow density selections (so important). Food and bar was very nice. The staff was the best part. So friendly and proud of their hotel.

Really disappointing experience||September 2025||Hotel Morgan claims to be a boutique, luxury hotel. That claim is deceptively misleading as the hotel is neither boutique nor luxury. There was nothing unique or luxurious about our room on the sixth floor. The carpet was badly stained throughout (it looked as though it could have been part of a crime scene), the vanilla walls were without any decor at all, and the "chandelier" hanging from the ceiling was so cheap and comical-looking that I found it hard to believe that the hotel wasn't embarrassed trying to pass it off as an acceptable lighting fixture. As we entered and exited our room over the course of our two-night stay, we noticed that a huge pile of dirty towels remained on the floor outside one of the rooms the entire time. That lack of attention to detail is hardly to be expected in a hotel claiming luxury status. Additionally, several of the rooms in our hallway were left open during our stay, obviously awaiting housekeeping as the beds were stripped bare. The furniture and carpeting in the lounge across from the Anvil and Ax were also surprisingly filthy. The hotel's website claims that it underwent a complete renovation in 2021 and that it maintains a commitment to cleanliness. I'm not so sure about that. It seems there has been a breakdown in communication between the webmaster and the hotel staff!|| I also need to comment upon the staff. It was very apparent that the staff has not been adequately educated on the importance of appearance, communication, and customer service; the slovenly dress, the lack of manners, the refusal to extend even the most basic courtesy to the hotel's guests--all betray a failure of proper training. When a staff member ignores a guest's 'good morning' greeting, wears earbuds while working, stands at a desk playing on his/her phone, feels free to curse loudly in front of guests about a co-worker's failure to adequately clean the kitchen--all of these examples signal that there is a problem with management preparing employees to be true professionals.

Where to start? This hotel is an absolute mess. At check in we told the desk staff we need a luggage cart. They said they were looking for one, but none appeared. Finally, another guest on the way out had one which we managed to get. We told the staff our car was outside and that there was no valet outside. Again, acknowledged but nothing happened for a while. Finally, one showed up. It appears the valets are not hotel employees but part of an outside valet service, so not on site. Apparently only one working ice machine in the whole hotel, so guests are forced to go from floor to floor seeking one that works. The stairway between floors is so filthy that you end up with dust all over your clothes. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers are all so nearly empty that you can’t get anything out of them. Absolutely no one at this hotel is paying attention to details or even basic maintenance issues. And finally, the bartender in the lobby bar has yet to discover the joys of showering and using deodorant. Why on earth would a hotel employee in a front line position interacting with guests not be counseled to do something about offensive body odor?!

Acceptable accomodations with some flaws. We visited on an away-game weekend (not sure if that matters) and Saturday breakfast service was abismal so we ate somewhere else. There were also two young adults (didn't seem like guests) sleeping in the lobby which was a bad look. Our room was ok, some little things like dead bugs/dust on the sills, some dirt in the bathroom, and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. But overall it's proximity to the river and nightlife was great! Parking was easy.

Google
I will keep this review short and to the point. Pros: Gym was decent size and good range of free weights Room was clean Bed was comfortable Cons: Dirty bed linens were piled up outside of rooms in the hallway making it hard to maneuver our luggage cart to our room. Immediately upon entering our room we were hit with the strong smell of marijuana. We’re not into that kind of thing so instant con for us. The staff were not friendly or helpful. To park your own car in the back lot will cost you $18 or you can choose valet service for $20. We didn’t know this so just so you are aware. Good location but extremely busy street outside.

WONDERFUL Hotel! Not only was this hotel located in the beautiful historic downtown Morgantown, but the building itself was outstanding. The design was thoughtful and added to the historic charm with all the perks of modern amenities. Clean rooms and friendly staff. 10-stars

Google
Chose this hotel for it's proximity to the amphitheater. We were pleasantly surprised. The girl at the desk was not only friendly, but very efficient. Room was perfect. All staff were friendly. And it was affordable. We will definitely stay here again!

Google
We had a great time staying here from October 9th to the 13th they have plenty of bike trails around town and if you're at the cocktail lounge in the hotel if Maria's working ask her to make you a Paloma she makes great drinks. Cooper Rock State Park was nice. Hotel also has a gym in basement.

Yelp
Look, it's a very nice hotel that's clearly been renovated semi-recently, and I would absolutely come back if I was staying in Morgantown and needed to be near WVU. But. The staff was consistently aloof (I stayed almost a full work week, so I met a number of them) and made me feel like either I was being an inconvenience or they had no idea what was happening with basic requests like "could you hold on to this suitcase for the morning" and "I need to get something out of my car." The valet parking is fine, but they park the cars so close together that getting something out of your car becomes an acrobatic act I am simply too old for. And the bar food is good but frankly too expensive for what you get. The location in downtown makes up for a lot, and none of this was dramatically bad when the room was clean and spacious, but they have some work to do on the customer service front.

Yelp
Amazing! This hotel has it all. Friendly and welcoming staff members, a bar/restaurant with good food and a nice selection of fun cocktails, beer, and wines. It has style and charm. The room we stayed in was quiet, comfortable, and could not have been cleaner. It's in a fun section of town with many places walkable. The valet parking service was really nice to have. We loved it. The only teeny tiny downside, was that the breakfast menu the restaurant lists online is not what was actually available when we visited. But that was so minor. We plan to return to this hotel again next time we are in town.

Yelp
Let's start with the positives: -The hotel definitely has a good location and the place itself has a lot of character - a classic old hotel. -They also had a very nice gym outfitted in the basement and I used it every day. It was well stocked. -The room we had on the 5th floor had a great view. It was also clean and a good size. And now the rest, none of which is terrible -The place is old/historic and it does have charm, but we came in February for a college visit and the room was really cold, even with the forced air wall unit cranking. It was because the windows were like sieves, totally unsealed. Ok, it's old so ok, but one of the heavy blinds, presumably there to offset this, would not unfurl all the way and was broken. Luckily we were on the 5th floor and there were no prying eyes. -The valet was nice and using text messages to call for one was convenient, but it wasn't a good deal. The lot was literally a 28ft walk from the lobby. You can park there yourself and just pay, but you had to renew your paid spot at midnight to do so. When we left very early to catch our flight there was no valet so we walked over to it across the street. I think I almost took 7 steps for this historic trek. -The front desk people were all young folks and not jazzed to be there. They were not rude, but they were sluggish to be sure. They don't answer the desk phone all the time. The free coffee/muffins in the lobby were nice, but since I didn't get down there at 6am to enjoy it the coffee was only lukewarm and the muffins were usually gone. I actually asked them to microwave a cup for me. The receptionist was enthusiastic at my request.

Yelp
Hotel was phenomenon. Service at front desk was great and valet was very quick to get vehicle. We're not able to try the bar or food there since was always packed but that is a good sign that they are great places to try. Real old school feel to the place. Rooms were small but perfect for us. Have no complaints. Great job to everyone that works there

Yelp
Easy check in! Beautifully restored hotel! Super comfy bed! Def will stay again! The only negative thing I could say is they could explained the parking situation better on the web site. Had to valet which was fine (valet staff very friendly) just would have been nice to know.

Yelp
We spent one night on a road trip at the Morgan. Stopped on way up to our room for a nightcap at the lobby bar. Bartender friendly & made a great espresso martini. Our room was clean & quiet even though there was a wedding reception going on downstairs. The shower was hot. The bed was comfortable. Good nights sleep. Only downside is there is no offer of a continental breakfast of any sort. Had a to go coffee pot in the lobby but had to look elsewhere for breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Here for a wedding. Beautifully restored old hotel that is lovely venue for a wedding. Top notch ambiance and food. Only negative I can site is as wedding venue is the PA system and the acoustics of the hall. High ceilings, marble floors and wooden columns make for echos and unclear sounds. Otherwise it's a great place to celebrate.

Yelp
Hotel Morgan has come a long way with their renovation. The lobby is beautiful while still keeping the historical charm. The bed & sheets were super comfy and relaxing. Fresh coffee downstairs every morning was a nice treat. I only experienced 2 cons. 1- my room was not serviced over the 2 days I was there. I didn't have the do not disturb sign up, so was sad to see it wasn't cleaned. 2- parking- valet was constantly missing. I ended up just self parking myself. That was also a challenge. The directions were not clear and I circled for about 5 minutes before finally calling the hotel to get better directions than what I was provided at check in. Overall a nice stay and will definitely stay again when country roads take me home to Morgantown.

Yelp
Had an opportunity to stay at Hotel Morgan this past week. The building is nearly a century old with updated rooms. A great hotel if you want to stay near West Virginia University. Within walking distance of many eateries Downtown. The Hotel Lobby is cozy featuring its restaurant Anvil + Ax, which many people frequent for cocktails, a quick bite to eat, or breakfast. Coffee in the morning is superb. The hotel staff are friendly and work hard to make your stay perfect. There is a nice fitness center past the elevators and down the stairs. The hotel has convenient parking across the street off the side of the Iron Horse Tavern too. I don't know why people would stay anywhere else in Morgantown; Hotel Morgan is the place to be.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! The renovation and rebranding has truly transformed the Hotel Morgan into something magical. It's absolutely STUNNING! I'm originally from Morgantown (but now live in Austin, TX) and I've stayed here many times pre-renovation during visits home. We had the pleasure of staying here a few months ago and were blown away. The design choices are so sleek yet cozy, and they still managed to maintain so much of the original character. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We went to the bar to have a drink before dinner, and the bartender did not even say hello did not smile! absolutely no customer service. Some of the staff were smoking out front of the entrance. Such a pretty hotel for such terrible service.

Yelp
One star for the location that it's in. Another star for the historic nature of the hotel. That's unfortunately all I could muster for this place. I love an historic hotel...with "character" as much as the next person. Driving 16 hours for this, though, left a lot to be desired. We arrived (after 14 hours of driving) around 2pm and check in wasn't until 3pm. My mom had called earlier and because we were in a block of rooms for a wedding, we were told we were "good". Unload the car onto a cart in the small area up front and told we couldn't check in yet! The fella at the front desk didn't seem like he'd go out of his way to accommodate anything. Offered to keep our stuff but not on the cart "in case someone needed it". That's fun, check out is at 11 and you're certainly not letting anyone check in an hour early...so who needs the cart? But, I bit my tongue and loaded the car back up and we killed an hour. The room was "cute" and certainly had character. The pull out sofa bed, well, the frame itself was broken but I managed to get it out. My daughter tried to sleep on it and I didn't want her getting tetanus from a spring stabbing her so I ran to Walmart and picked up an air mattress. Then the fun began. The window A/C unit...the loud A/C unit....decided it didn't want to work. So I called the front desk and she stated she'd "try to call the maintenance person". I'm the meantime I decided to open a window and found it had no screen. So, that got closed. Some time passed and the maintenance man came by and lo and behold it began working. Fast forward to the next night, the A/C cut out again but wait, I found the culprit. Every time I changed channels on the TV, the A/C turned off!! What?! I called the front desk and they said they'd send someone up...nothing. Oh well, as long as I watched one channel, I was golden. Then there's breakfast included. Cool. My 13 year old daughter went to make a waffle but she wasn't allowed to. The lady working said she doesn't allow kids to use the waffle iron! Again...WHAT?! I get it. Let's not have a 5 year old do it but she's...THIRTEEN!!! I could go on and on like the bartenders "first night alone" on a Saturday, during a wedding. But I figured you stopped reading by now. Here's what I will say: you can lay your head down (not on the sofa bed) and have a roof over your head for the night.

Yelp
Hotel Morgan is my place to stay when I have to travel to Morgantown for business! It is conveniently located near West Virginia, University and West Virginia University hospital. It has a cozy atmosphere, quiet and clean rooms, and amenities around it to make you feel right at home. There is also a well stock bar and a decent menu for food with both breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always ask for KYREN will take very good care of you while staying at Hotel Morgan.

Yelp
Staff is lazy and looks miserable at all times. They do not communicate well but the place itself is okay. Not worth the $$ but it's okay.. I'd probably give it 1/2 stars if I could

Addison C.

Yelp
Got espresso martinis and they were not made according to the menu. Did not see Tito's, no espresso, worst espresso martini I've ever had.

Yelp
Have stayed at this property previously. The facility is nice but the service is lacking and overshadows any good. They charged me for a meal I didn't order and for 2 rooms for the same night. Worst is I have trouble finding anyone that will talk to me and fix the issue. The phone is not answered at times and repeated messages left for the manager to call me are unreturned. They have not had the courtesy to call and talk to me. I can't believe people in the hospitality business are so bad. Stay away as it is not worth the headache. It has been almost a month and can't get them to talk to me.

Yelp
Beautifully redone old hotel. The quietest rooms I've ever stayed in. Super absorbent towels. Very friendly staff. Amazing value for the price.
google avatar

Paige N.

Yelp
While the room and stay was quite lovely, I am disappointed in the fees (13% tax, ended up paying slightly more than 21 dollars in taxes) and $12 for parking. Most parking is free and I am unfamiliar with such high taxes. On a smaller scale, their parking is confusing. There are no signs and many one way streets, it would be okay if there was parking in the vicinity but there is not, only their parking lot a half block away, with no signs indicating this. Just a side note, there are no beverages at the free breakfast. Not worth any star decline, just something that disappointed me for paying $197.32 for a room. Juice or milk would've been cool.
google avatar

Yelp
6/4/18 They say you get what you pay for, sad but true, I shopped around for a good price in Morgantown due to the fact that the last week on the road has cost me quite a bit more than I had budgeted for. When I found the Clarion it was about $24 dollars less than the cheapiest of the other chains that I usually stay, so I booked the Clarion (my first time staying at a Clarion. When I arrived, I mentioned to the desk clerk that I have been doing a travel vlog while traversing the country, traveling for the most part on Route 50 that goes from Sacramento Ca. to Ocean City Md. I told him as I entered the city I saw an old crappy looking hotel with the name Hotel Morgan on the side which I verbalized on my GoPro, then to my surprise I saw the Clarion name on the back!!! After relating this to him I asked him "will I be happy here" he informed me that they have had few complaints. The hotel was renovated in 2008...It was built in 1927... After unloading my car and stashing everything in the room, I then parked at a lot about a half a block away that the clerk assured me was well lit and that it was frequently patrolled by security, and the Morgantown PD... The first problem when I got to the room was that the door would NOT shut without slaming it, due to the missalignment of the door or the door jam being loose. Later when I returned and was getting out of the shower I reached for a towel to dry off and noticed that all of the towels were damp and had an odor to them... ( so glad MDW was not with me )... I totally was skeeving from this and called down and complained to the clerk who was very apologetic and said he would immediately bring fresh towels up...I told him when he came up that I was very upset and was going to immediately shower again. He acknowledged the fact that the towels were damp and had an odor, and again sincerely apologized. I also showed him the door that had to be slammed to shut it. As a aside, the room is quite large and the TV was placed so far away from the bed you need a pair of binoculars to watch it... To add to the pleasure of staying in this room was the fact that I was unable to leave the bathroom light on when I went to sleep because the bearings were going bad in the exhaust fan and it was emiting a high pitched squeal when you turned it on, one switch controlled the light and fan. Along with the loud compressor running in the gigantic window AC unit I did not get a good night sleep and was dressed, packed up, and ready to leave the next morning at 4:30am... Going downstairs there was dirt on the elevator floor... I filed a formal complaint with the desk clerk because I wanted to be reimbursed for my stay at this hotel, she wrote everything down for the manager (she said the manager came in at 9:00am, and I asked her to have her call me since I would be on the road after she reads my complaint... At 11:45 since I received no call I called and the clerk told me the manager would not be in today... I was transfered to her voicemail and gave her my complaint on her voice mail. I told her I would give her the courtesy until the following day to call me before contacting Choice Hotels, Clarions owner... I never received a call and have been in contract with Comfort Inn, and my credit card company to get it straightened out... This is a hotel IMO that you would do well to bypass when looking for accommodations in Morgantown WV....

Yelp
Historic building with an eye catching sign, you have to wonder what it could be if it was owned by a more "prestige" brand. It's a very standard Clarion hotel. Nothing bad, nothing great. Rooms are all quite spacious with couch, mini fridge and microwave. The lobby bar is pretty good also-at least drink wise. Didn't eat. Ballroom is gorgeous, and the lobby woodwork is wonderful. Honestly the price is right for our purposes, a quick overnight escape from Pittsburgh. Close to bars and restaurants and 123 pleasant street, an incredible music venue. Next trip to Morgantown I'd probably still stay here.

Yelp
We enjoyed staying here at this hotel. The decor was modern and the beds were plush. The shower pressure and water was hot with a rain shower head. The shower soap in the bath was really nice and had a great fresh smell. The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful and helped us to the room. The ice machine was on the floor below us and no breakfast was included but they had a coffee and tea bar. We had to pay $12 to park our car over night. Great stay!! There are many nice restaurants within walking distance.
google avatar

Yelp
This older hotel has been redone and updated. The room features modern furniture, retro style refrigerator and radio. Our room had a shower no tub. The ax and anvil restaurant and bar for food and drinks. Morning coffee in the lobby
google avatar

Jon A.

Yelp
Reopened in February 2021 after a major renovation. Rooms are nice and big, with a retro-chic vibe. Staff was very friendly. Comfortable beds. The self-park parking lot ($12 a day) is confusing. It's a public, metered lot directly across High Street from the hotel entrance, but you have to drive around the block and enter from Kirk Street. Don't use the parking meters (even though the signs say that you have to), but get the hang tag from the hotel instead. And don't park in the lot that says "Hotel Morgan," because that's for the valet parking only.

Jeramy S.

Yelp
Have a super long day traveling, we arrived on an early Friday morning around 0200. The room next to us were up and talking so loud, we learned they were college students who were not doing well in school. That last until 0330. Then at 0600, they were back at it as two men knocked on the door and the loud talking started again I asked the front desk to be moved as we aren't wanting loud noises all night. They moved us...right under a party from the 5th floor. They didn't even here me knock. Nor did the hear the front desk call or knock until the 3rd time. Unbelievable! Bar area is good for 10 people. The night desk clerk loves water painting not assisting. Good luck trying to get your points too. Our future trips will never be in this overpriced hotel.

Yelp
Clarion Hotel - Morgantown, WV The Perfect Place to stay in Downtown Morgantown The Clarion Hotel is the perfect place to stay in downtown Morgantown. With its central location and so much to offer within walking distance, there was no need to move my car once I'd parked it (I was even able to walk to Black Bear Burritos where I was performing). The street side exercise room was very welcome after the 8-hour drive to get there, especially when a storm rolled in preventing a stroll to shake off the ride. The Tavern across the street offers excellent food and atmosphere (I recommend the Beet Salad) and is easily accessible given the slow pace of traffic on the one-way street. The room was exceedingly spacious, offering a comfy couch with a coffee table and 4th floor views of downtown Morgantown, along with the usual's such as television, an in-room coffeemaker and hair drier. It was clean, quiet, cooled just right and the comfy bed made for a sound night's sleep. Most of all though, the Clarion offers the atmosphere of historic Morgantown charm. The Ball room/dining room is the perfect space for an important event, with elegance and character, and given the location and charm of the building, I would say this is the perfect place to stay when visiting Morgantown for business or pleasure.

Yelp
Terrible terrible terrible. We stayed at Hotel Morgan from April 3rd to the 5th. When we got home we discovered they charged us for the room twice. I have now been calling for three weeks trying to get a refund. The staff has been incredibly unhelpful, every time saying it will be fixed and nothing is done and management will not reach out to me. I was finally able to get the number of the general manager Chance Martin who has done nothing. He even called me and asked me to "help him" because contacting hotels tonight (we originally paid through them and hotel Morgan staff charged our card for the full price of the stay a second time upon leaving) was too difficult from him. He also called me darling on the phone which is extremely disrespectful as I am a grown woman and not his child. Chase Martin also told me that no higher up contact for Wyndham exists when I asked, apparently general managers are the end all be all of hotels haha. Will be going to my bank for a charge back and contacting higher support at Wyndham. Literally don't stay here unless you want a month of annoyances. Chase Martian has offered no apologies and said that it was just an accident. If it was just an accident then it shouldn't be this hard to fix and send an apology. Terrible experience.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Morgantown. Front desk management severely incompetent.

Yelp
This place was probably nice at some point. That point would have been many many years ago. The two stars were only earned because the staff is pleasant (albeit dressed unprofessionally) and there were no bedbugs. I stayed here based on the hotel booking sites number of stars. They obviously make no effort to verify the validity of their star rating. The toilet is the type in a rest area or truck stop. The bathroom was just very old and outdated. It seemed relatively clean. The vanity was old and chipping. One lamp was broken in such a way that it fell apart in my hand and the bulb remained glowing even though it was switched off. Smoke detector hanging from ceiling. The lamps and nightstand appeared disheveled upon my arrival. Like someone moved them or plowed into it all and no one straightened it. The headboard is falling of the wall. The free hot breakfast was interesting. It was edible. But, i believe it was all made in a microwave. The girl was dumping the scrambled eggs, cooked, from a plastic bag and the biscuits were odd on top. Like moist. The plates used for the breakfast buffet were the Dixie printed paper plates with a design on them. (I know, it's petty. But I'm just trying to paint a picture here.) Parking is across the street and behind another building. There is not valet so you have to walk around the other buildings. It's not far but it was raining and freezing during my stay. The lobby bar was also closed upon arrival due to staffing issues, however, in all fairness I believe they got it reopened quickly. The design and decor is extremely outdated. Behind the front desk is a hodgepodge of stuff. The first floor elevator area smells like urine. Not the best first impression.

Yelp
I was stuck with this hotel last month, the hotel was not my choice, and it was absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't even walk barefoot in that room. Went to talk to the front desk about the dirty room, dirty ripped sofa, dirty pillowcases, broken and fallen toilet paper holder, busted light in the bathroom, and first thing she said "but you're not really going to sleep on the sofa though, right?" and tried to dismiss me, so I showed her all photos of the room with my phone and she opened her eyes where you could see the white around them, and said, well we don't have any other room except one with a broken air conditioner, so we took a look at that room and yeah, it was like an oven in there because it's summer, and that alternate room was not much cleaner, so we had to sleep in that original disgusting room. The entire 7th floor hallway smelled like a sewer, our room smelled bad as well, in a different way. We felt like throwing up every time we had to walk to our room. The one functioning elevator had trash in it, the hall and room rugs were spotted, there was a vomit looking spot outside my room door. What a nightmare place. No, it wasn't that cheap for what we received. I think we paid about $180 for the night. Even if the hotel were to cost $50, why would anyone in the hospitality business leave a beat up chair that in their guest rooms? I heard from one of the employees of the building that they were going to close the hotel soon because the owner was selling? I hope it's not a rumor, I hope they close it and deep clean everything in there. Or throw all their junk out the door and start fresh.

Toby R.

Yelp
This is a good hotel, just not my cup of tea. The historical architecture of the hotel is very nice and the decor was all historical (including the room furnishings). They have a decent hotel gym. The conference room was a little small but suitable for most events. All of this considered, the price was definitely excessive of the value of the services. Unless the historical experience is important to you, I'd stay somewhere else

Yelp
It's old. And you can feel it. Not in a charming way but in a dilapidated and needing a refresh kind of way. Bathroom tub had hair in it of the body variety-and we have little kids so it was gross having them in a tub-and showering wasn't easy. The beds and pull out couch were lumpy and uncomfortable. Pillows were cheap and not large enough for a king size bed-it felt like they were toddler pillows. I think we slept 2-3 hours at best. The front lobby is beautiful and you can tell that maybe at one time this was a glorious place to be-but not anymore. It also smelled musty. I'm surprised this is a Clarion Hotel-as I understand choice hotels that is intended to mean top notch for this chain. Can't imagine what the bottom looks like...

Yelp
The hotel - as far as modern hotels go - leaves a lot to be desired. Rooms are eh at best. Wallpaper is peeling, tacky drapes and popcorn ceilings, rugs are stained, and beware the sofa pull out bed- super cheap and flimsy. Bad to sleep on and small. This could be a GORGEOUS place if Clarion cared at all. It was obviously very luxurious at one time many many years ago. It's not now. Breakfast was not great. But the biscuits and gravy were ok. The parking is ok. It's across the street. The staff here however are SUPER nice, friendly and helpful. It gets 1 star for location, 1 for the great staff and 1 for the elegance that could be...

Yelp
The Hotel Morgan was built 1925 and considered as one of the premier hotels in the country. When you first walk in, I noticed the old school chandeliers and original fixtures. So vintage and beautiful. The staff was friendly, but was really short. They did not mention Continental breakfast or any other information that we may want to know. Our rooms were not that bad, you can tell that it was renovated (beds, carpet, tv, etc) but kept most of the original parts. Just the smell of the building, hallway and rooms you can tell it is vintage. I don't mind it, but some people do. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. Wifi was free but was extremely slow. There is also a restaurant located in the building as well. The only thing I did not like was their breakfast. The waffle maker did not work, the biscuits were cold and the lounge looked dirty. But overall it was a great experience to stay at the oldest hotel in the area.

Yelp
I've stayed here a couple times when visiting family. When away from you, one looks for a comfortable place to stay. Hotel Morgan has been quite comfortable! It is situated in the heart of downtown Morgantown, close to dining areas, local events and the university. There is a nice walking path along the river, just a couple blocks away. The hotel is an older building which brings its own charm. So, if you feel more comfortable in something more modern, there are other local options. The staff have always been polite, friendly and most helpful; from the front desk, the bartender, continental breakfast to support staff, they were always helpful. Check-in has gone smoothly. There is a small unloading space to park in front while you check-in. Their parking lot is about half block away. So, I suggest unloading first and then parking your own car. (I did not find any valet option.) Rooms have been quite nice and roomy. Check-outs have been fast and convenient. Beds have been very comfortable. Rooms have a sofa couch, cable tv with HBO, small desk and dressers. I will say the Wi-Fi in the rooms are weaker signals, but I found the lower floors such as the mezzanine have a stronger signal. Complimentary continental breakfast is included with your room. They seem to have a bigger selection of options than just cereal & doughnuts. Usually there are hot meal items like scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage and biscuits. (Bacon could be cooked longer.) I love their make your own waffle machine! Much better than those pre-packaged toaster kind! Plenty of coffee, tea, milk and juice. They offer fresh fruit, a variety of cereals, yogurt, bagels and more. Many places don't offer as much as what they offer here. They do have a restaurant in the building, but I have not used it. There are a lot of different local spots around that I have always ventured out for the walk, the older downtown architecture and try out a variety of the local restaurants and pubs. I definitely enjoy the old-fashion charm this hotel has to offer and will definitely stay here again on future visits.

Yelp
DONT STAY HERE! Someone from the staff stole my Samsung smart watch worth $300. I left it on the bed and didn't realize this until we were hours away. They also charged us twice for a 1 night stay. I've talked to two people on the phone and e-mailed them. Staff is so rude and no one has contacted me about either issue.

Yelp
We tried, but no welcome here. In a family emergency, we found ourselves outside the WVU hospital at 3:30 a.m. May 31, exhausted after a grueling and sad day. Needing a place to rest for a few hours, my son booked two rooms at Clarion through Priceline, not realizing that they would automatically be for the following night. Immediately we realized that and called Clarion. They were not at all helpful. No rooms at that moment, no chance of canceling. They said call Priceline. Called Priceline. No help there - nonrefundable, even though it was within 10 minutes of initial contact. They say call Clarion. We ended up staying at a different place, paid for two rooms we couldn't use, a bitter ending to a bitter day. And Clarion could not have been less helpful.

Yelp
I've stayed here a lot over the past 20 years. And it's always been a football weekend which means 3x normal rate or 300+ bucks. Location is great but lack of anything else is horrible. Keys don't work and need to be fixed every time. Rooms haven't updated since the 70s plus room service doesn't seem to come anymore. Am told the place is closing to fix these issues and hope they do.

Yelp
The atmosphere--particularly in the lobby and bar--is fantastic for a hotel in thus price range. The furnishings in the rooms are a little old, and the continental breakfast is nothing special, but the Morgan is otherwise pretty nice. The rooftop deck is lovely when the weather is nice vwe did not try the food at the restaurant, but the bar staff was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely amazing! The lobby is incredible, older yet fabulous! The rooms are to die for, modern and has everything you could need along with unique features like old fridges and radios! Also is a great location! Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
This hotel was fine. The best thing about it is location. If you're looking to do a night out in Morgantown, you are in the right spot. There is also a Sheetz located conveniently right nearby. The staff was very friendly. They had a little free parking lot a short walk away. The building itself is old, like real old. This place could definitely use some updates. The first problem was that our key did not work very well and that the door only closed after slamming it. The room was a bit dingy but spacious. The bathroom didn't have a lock and the water pressure was pretty low in the shower.

Yelp
The rooms are HUGE and bed extremely comfy. It is almost 100 years old and has a lot of vintage charm. The. staff was very nice and friendly. Parking was a little confusing but we did fine. In the heart of downtown morgantown. Within walking to everything.

Yelp
The room was fine, for an old historic building it was pretty good. But BIG WARNING TO MOTORCYCLE RIDERS. Do not park bike out front the way they say you should. Especially on weekends during school season! Some drunk students knocked over my bike and caused damage at 3am. The front desk woke me up but didn't catch the vandals on camera or anything. Not a safe neighborhood on weekends

Yelp
I love staying at old hotels. This was a very nice renovated hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Front desk personnel was friendly. Nice little bar.

Yelp
Really big thanks to Chuck A review and several others! I would have probably never looked into this hotel, if not for Yelp. The rates here are wonderful, especially on a football weekend with Marriott Hotel charging $350/night and 2 night minimum. Here, you will pay $145 plus tax for a luxurious suite with comfortable queen bed, sofa, television, free wifi, and included breakfast. The location is in downtown Morgantown with everything in walking distance. Staff at the front desk are super accommodating. They called in for a cab and described the transportation system to me. Parking lot is half a block away. AND one of the greatest things is the vintage decor of the hotel. There is a lounge on the first floor as well. I would definitely frequent this hotel, if in the area. Beats chain hotels by far!

Yelp
The venerable old Hotel Morgan (now managed by Clarion Hotels) in conveniently located in downtown Morgantown, where you'll find a wide array of eateries, drinkeries, and shops where you can buy all kinds of fabulous little gorgeous things. The hotel itself is eight stories of old-fashioned elegance, especially the lobby with its high ceiling and dark woodwork. The rooms are a bit small, so families with kids may wish to look for accommodations elsewhere, but for a business traveler it's more than adequate. Heating and A/C is by way of a window-mounted unit which is NOT quiet, but if you're like me, the "white noise" helps you sleep. Parking is in a lot about half a block away. For ME one of the best things about the Hotel Morgan are WINDOWS THAT OPEN, so you can get some nice fresh air into the room if needed. Price-wise this place is a bargain, and the government rate is only about $75/night. There's a nice restaurant/lounge on the top floor and a cool little tavern adjacent to the lobby. Each room comes with a coffee maker and a microwave. The "free breakfast" on the mezzanine is adequate at best, but I'm not that picky about such things, especially since it IS free. Some people prefer cookie-cutter hotel chains, but when in Morgantown I prefer the gracious, old-fashioned charm of the Hotel Morgan. One final note: If you make a reservation, ask if a corner room is available. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
We stopped here a couple of years ago on a road trip and had an amazing evening. Maybe it's because we weren't expecting anything, but this hotel has a lot of character. It's historic as it first opened in 1925. It was a luxury hotel back before luxury hotels. You definitely get a feeling like you've stepped back in time from this place even though it's been renovated and updated. The highlight for us was having dinner on the roof. I don't know if the roof is still open--I couldn't find any information on the hotel's website, but if it is, do it! It will be memorable and romantic.

Yelp
It was dark out, past 5 PM after a long day of driving, so I stopped in to get a room. They said their were rooms available but, as it was a "game weekend" for the Mountaineers, they stated I would have to stay two nights. I would like to give a better review of the hotel itself but these folks prefer to have empty rooms than help out a weary traveler. Luckily this isn't the only hotel in town.

Yelp
Loved staying at this beautiful historic hotel. The lobby bar was one of the better hotel bars I have seen, and again I love the vintage design of the building. We had a great night's sleep, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet and clean. Would definitely come back.
