Hotel Mrak was a great find in the historic part of Ljubljana. We avoid chain hotels and like to stay somewhere with a bit of charm and character in a nice neighbourhood. Hotel Mrak ticked all those boxes and we'd definitely stay there again if we return to Ljubljana.||We were in room 205 which was pleasantly furnished and very comfortable and clean. We overlooked a quiet side street. We would have liked a longer lead on the kettle but we were grateful to have a kettle! We also had a fridge which is always a big bonus.||There was a car park only 3/4 minutes walk from the hotel which was a big bonus as parking in cities can often be quite challenging. The car park cost £21 for two nights which was a very good price for city parking. It also felt like a safe area.||We didn't eat breakfast at Hotel Mrak as the dining room didn't inspire us. There was an outside 'garden' area for breakfast but it was a completely internal courtyard with a canopy of vines overhead with no view as surrounded by buildings. We were very pleased with Le Petit Cafe a few doors away which was a delightful find for breakfast/brunch. there were also a lot of very nice restaurants a short walk away for the evening as this is a very lovely and pretty neighbourhood. The man on reception was very helpful and gave us a couple of great recommendations which we did for the two nights we were there. We hope to return to Hotel Mrak one day.

Modern and refurbished to a high standard, breakfast was excellent as was the service (rooms were cleaned whilst we were at breakfast). Liked the links in the rooms to specific historical points...it made us go look for things we wouldn't have otherwise sought out. Hotel is on a quiet street a couple of minutes walk from the river - you walk past an excellent breakfast spot if you don't have breakfast included. You can hear traffic noise from the main street if you have the window open...but you are in a city, it is what it is.

Cozy Hotel, comfortable, close to city center, well furnished, good breakfast. Only problem the few space for parking which forces to make use of private parkings which are very expensive in case of long stay. Very good service at reception: highly appreciated the suppoirt by Milos in a night where all the streets were clodsed for a concert, and he personally helped me in a kind and professional way to find the way back! Excellent, thanks Milos.

Great location just far enough from the main tourist hotshots while being ain a quieter area. Rooms are compact but comfortable for a 2/3 night stay. Breakfast is fabulous with the bulk of offering being homemade or locally sourced. ( named farms etc) All staff encountered were friendly, polite and very helpful. Possibly slightly pricey but offset by everything else.

I stayed at Hotel Mrak last year, and while the accommodation and atmosphere were generally great, with an excellent breakfas. I often switch hotels in Ljubljana, and though there are worse and better options, I chose Hotel Mrak again. The receptionist (a lady) wasn’t particularly friendly, possibly due to a language barrier. We were assigned a recently renovated room, but it looked poor at first glance—misaligned mattresses and cheap, see-through bedding. The room was extremely noisy; you could hear hallway doors opening and closing, footsteps from the room above and beside us, and conversations from neighboring rooms. The sound of flushing toilets at night was disruptive. There was also a strong damp smell—initially aired out, but it returned once the windows were closed. We barely slept, which was awful. I mentioned this to the male receptionist in the early morning, and he apologized, but when you’re on a tight schedule, missing a night’s sleep affects your entire week. If you prioritize a great location and good breakfast, Mrak is a solid choice. However, if you need rest, sleep, or peace, this isn’t the place. The renovations seemed incomplete, and something was definitely off.

Among the best and friendliest of any staff on our 3 week Central Europe trip. Loved the made-to-order menu for breakfast, in addition to the buffet. We stayed in Apartment 3 - Loved the spaciousness and modern interior. The lighting in the bathroom makes it hard to see well for shaving (men) and make-up (women) and the light controls take some getting used to.

We visited for 2 nights, party of 5 divided into 2 rooms. Breakfast was a lovely experience, terrace under old vines a special setting and location is perfect for inner city exploration on foot. We were satisfied with the rooms, it was clean and updated, a huge plus for the employees

The hotel is overrated, overpriced, and the service was terrible. I arrived late in the day in Ljubljana. Mrak was one of the few hotels with availability. I paid $200 a night and received a disappointingly small room in return. I checked into the room around 7 p.m. I quickly noticed the room had not even been cleaned. The bed wasn't made up. There were empty water bottles in the bathroom, and the trash had not been emptied. I spoke to the attendant at the front desk who admitted he'd been busy and had forgotten to service the room. I expect more from a hotel with that price point, which didn't even include breakfast. That night I was moved to another room and had to switch back the next day. The front desk person apologized, but that was it. When I checked out, I politely told him there would have been many ways to turn that negative experience into a positive one, such as offering me breakfast. Mrak management needs to do a better job with customer service. I suggest you look elsewhere where you can probably get more for your money and better service.
