The Best New Hotels in Costa Rica Have Organic Gardens, Beachfront Pools, and National Park Views

"At the Center of Investigation for Natural & Social Resources (CIRENAS) I learned about its sea-turtle conservation program: staff enclose rescued nests in driftwood-and-mesh pens, patrol nightly to protect eggs from poachers and predators, organize turtle releases for visitors, and work with local schools to build support—after an arson attack destroyed the hatchery, rebuilding and awareness became urgent priorities, efforts that properties like Nantipa help to fund." - Gina DeCaprio Vercesi Gina DeCaprio Vercesi Gina DeCaprio Vercesi is a New York-based writer with a passion for adventure, history, and conservation. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and his birthday. Right from the beginning when we coordinated activities with Danielle and Emma, greeted by the front desk, eating meals at Manzú and enjoying an amazing facial/massage at Numu it has been incredible. This was the by far the best most beautiful experience we could have had. I highly recommend staying here. You will feel cared for and refreshed. We can’t wait to come back and celebrate our anniversary sometime in the future. :-)

Nice hotel but not perfect, especially in rainy season (we stayed October). Location is great. Near to a few nice shops and steps from the beach, the whole place is nicely designed. We had a brilliant greeting and the lady (Alina?) that showed us around was amazing. The rooms are nice but note there’s ZERO soundproofing from rain, as they have corrugated plastic roofs all around and presumably above. So when it rains, it’s LOUD and sleep was poor during our stay. But the rooms are nicely designed otherwise and well equipped. The plunge pool was freezing so so kind of unusable. The restaurant was nice, and great location, but the menu is reasonably limited and the service was a mix. The female staff were generally great, the male staff a bit hit and miss - felt a bit ‘macho’ at times. Two nights a lovely waitress ran around doing everything with a smile and seemingly looking after everyone while male colleagues stood around. Also note this is really the only communal space, so if it’s raining you’re here or in your room. There’s a nice pool. Again a bit fresh, but due to rain there was rarely anywhere to sit even in sunny dry spells as loungers were often left covered or were soaked through underneath anyway. Some normal chairs would have been a good addition plus some extra towels (rather than up at reception!). Also zero pool service. I think someone asked us once if we wanted a drink - we’d been swimming or around the pool half a day. The front of house staff were also hit and miss after the incredible welcome. Some were helpful. Others - especially if they didn’t understand English - would just look away and ignore you and go back to talking to their colleagues. Similarly the phone would get hung up if they didn’t understand rather than just explain they couldn’t understand. Both of these didn’t fit with the vibe of the place and left a bad taste. The beach is incredible. But there’s no lifeguards nearby and it’s pretty wild / rough and the currents are strong. It’s a fair walk down to the lifeguard area and they didn’t inspire huge confidence. Also on the beach there’s lots of debris and rubbish at times, and unlike other hotels we stayed at, the hotel doesn’t maintain the area in front all that well. You can collect rubbish and get a reward of a smoothie but we did about six buckets during our stay and never found a way to redeem. It’s a nice idea though - it’s not the hotels fault the sea is full of plastic but they could do more to back up the guests efforts. Also there were a few random characters on the beach some days that made us feel uneasy and we never sensed any hotel security (unless it was expertly hidden). Yoga was nice. Bit of roulette with the mosquitos but lovely setting otherwise. One other note - it’s a beach hotel but they’ve put down a horrible sharp gravel on many paths so you can’t easily walk barefoot. Strange choice. What actually made the place most special was the Concierge. The girls there were brilliant, beyond amazing, and really made the place. Without them it would have been a different experience. So a very nice place but one for the dry season definitely and there’s certainly room for improvement all round.

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights during our honeymoon and had an absolutely amazing time. The bungalows are cozy, luxurious, and private. The beds and linens were super comfortable. The private plunge pool was nice to have. The indoor-outdoor shower... perfection. Housekeeping did an incredible job making sure the room was always tidy and the sheets were fresh. The concierge, Daniella, was awesome in making sure we had a great stay. The on-site restaurant, Manzu, is the best place in town. We tried a bunch of other restaurants and none of them lived up to the bar set by Manzu. Every meal was fantastic. And the wait staff were great. The only part of our stay that didn't exceed expectations was the checkout. They sent an itemized invoice the morning of checkout, which was great. I responded to that email around 7am pointing out a small issue. When we got to reception to check out several hours later, apparently no one had read the email. We were standing at reception for 40mins trying to check out. Which is like 10x longer than we wanted to be there. The person doing our checkout seemed to be in training, but that's still not an experience that guests should have. Overall, I absolutely recommend others to stay here and hope to be able to return someday. Thank you, Nantipa team!

I can't say enough about this place. The space is curated for you to have a full experience. The aroma, the setting of each of the bungalows and the salt water pool, the wellness centre and restaurant are all woven into the landscape of the jungle. The scent of all the products immediately makes you feel calm and welcome. The rooms are beautiful. The showers get hot. It's clean and just so cozy. It's suitable for families! We came here with our almost two year old daughter and they helped us with every little accomodation for her. They warmed her milk in the evenings and brought our dinner to our room if she didn't feel like eating down on the beach. The service is next level. The staff all went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We will be back. This place felt like home away from home. Thank you for everything 🙏🏼💕

Our stay at Nantipa in Santa Teresa was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The customer service and support were on another level—every detail was handled with such care and thoughtfulness, which made the entire experience feel seamless and luxurious. The hotel itself is stunning. Our upgraded beachfront room was high-end, beautifully designed, and came with top-tier amenities. From the delicious coffee in the room to the exceptional cleaning services and thoughtful turndown touches, everything felt intentional and elevated. What really stood out were the personal details that made us feel so well cared for: fresh coconut water upon check-in, staff who remembered and accommodated my allergies at every meal, and small surprises throughout our stay that made it feel truly special. The food at the hotel was absolutely delicious, and the beachfront location couldn’t be more perfect—just steps from the ocean while also being right in the heart of Santa Teresa, close to everything. Between the incredible service, the gorgeous facilities, and the unbeatable location, Nantipa exceeded all of our expectations. It’s easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had, and we can’t wait to return.

Hotel Nantipa is the place you want to stay at in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica!! For starters, we immediately got upgraded to the one of the Villas for free! (It was our honeymoon and my wife's birthday might be why, but we never got a specific reason). Location is always key and this was the best location. Beachside plus right off the main road in Santa Teresa. The service is what really brought it home for us. We have never received service like this anywhere in our lives! Anthony at the front desk showed us around and made us feel very comfortable right away. And Daniela with the concierge team was always checking in with us and was so helpful and responsive with literally everything we needed. The food at Manzu restaurant did not miss one time either. You cannot beat free breakfast on the beach each morning and the dinner menu had a bit of everything.
