This is Crete Hospitality at its best! A great family run place with people who genuinely care about their guests. I cannot recommend this place enough. The welcome you get as you walk through the door continues for all your stay. They go out of their way to ensure that guests have the best time. Their local advice was greatly appreciated for all the hiking around the area. Helping us with drop offs both for us and our luggage when the gorge was closed was so kind. A lovely choice of food for the evening meals all home made with local produce. A great brekky to get you going for the day and picnic lunches available too brilliant as no shops in Omalos! Rooms are simple and clean with a small balcony too. A nice terrace to relax on after a days hiking with a cold beer. Thank you to all the team for a great 3 night stay, for us it was perfect.

An absolutely surprising and memorable experience. The hotel is completely off the beaten path — you have to want to go there. And we did, because our goal was to stay somewhere remote, far from civilization and crowds. And we got exactly that. But what truly surprised us was the incredible atmosphere of hospitality and the unique charm of travel from decades past. I can’t quite explain it, but we felt fantastic there — as if we had taken a journey back in time. Surrounded by peace and quiet, with warm and welcoming staff, good food at the hotel, tasty breakfast, and a large free parking area. It's close to the entrance of the Samaria Gorge, and there’s a bus connection right from the hotel. The room was spacious enough, comfortable, with basic furnishings. The bathroom was like many you find in Cretan accommodations, and there was a small balcony.

There is nothing this family won't do to make sure you get the best from your stay at this hotel. We had two great days hiking and were due to walk through the gorge on day 3. The gorge was closed so they helped us change plans and organised our luggage transfer to our next hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again.

Family run hotel ,very cosy and warm. What sets the hotel apart is the wonderful friendly staff, you feel like being at home. An extra bonus they are dog friendly, where our little dog felt like a v.i.p.the best place in omalos.

My husband and I stayed for two nights to hike the gorge of Samaria with our two school-aged children. The single rooms have very comfortable beds, the hotel is quiet and the space is more than enough to provide a restful stay. Very friendly hotel staff who truly went out of their way to assist us. Easy access to the entrance of the Samaria gorge as the hotel offers a mini van that takes you there in the morning free of charge. We returned back to the hotel after our hike from Sougia by public bus (ΚΤΕΛ). The public bus dropped us off right at the hotel. Dinner was always fresh and delicious. Service at the restaurant was excellent. I have recommended the Neos Omalos Hotel to my immediate greek family and we will definitely return to this hotel for other hikes in the area next time we visit Crete. Having hiked the Samaria gorge a few times myself, I find that driving to Omalos the day before the hike of the gorge of Samaria and spending the night there is so much easier for families than getting on a very early bus from Chania. The car drive to Omalos from Chania is not difficult at all compared to other areas in Crete. I highly recommend this hotel. Special thanks you to Mr. Giorgos for his hospitality!

A real mountain hotel. The rooms are small but clean. They however excel in friendliness, both in the hotel and in the restaurant you are treated as family. They serve typical Cretan cuisine with fresh products. We missed a place with comfortable chairs to read an relax but for the rest this offered everything you need an a hiking holiday. Certainly value for the money!

Good location if you are to engage Samaria gorge. My single room at least very simple, no airconditioning which wasn't an issue in September due to altitude. Ventilation not well-designed in terms of incoming air. Water quality from tap exceptionally bad (smelled and tasted moldy), again not an issue just drink and rinse of bottle. Amicable staff, food reasonable yet portions small. Breakfast portioned. Free rides to the Gorge trailhead every morning. I paid below 50 a night which was reasonable value.

A lovely, friendly hotel, with great food. Excellent advice given on local hiking trails, and hospitality was fantastic.
