Hotel NH Budapest City

Very clean and well located. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. The most important thing for me, which was being able to quickly reach tourist attractions on foot and having a metro/bus nearby, definitely worked out. The mojito at the bar is very good!

Staff was friendly and helpful. This was the nicest thing we experienced during our stay. Otherwise, the room was quite outdated, with visible marks of usage, stains and defects on the ceiling. There was mould between the bathroom tiles in several places. The room did not meet a 4 star hotel's standards in my opinion, and a renovation is definitely needed. Breakfast was okay, but plates were dirty. This is really not okay, especially considering the rates of the hotel.

I could take good time in Budapest. The city was so beautiful.

The location is quite nice. I liked the spa section, although some showers there were not working. The room we got definitely needs a bit of maintenance work - the shower was not working properly and also the wall was not complete. The breakfast was tasty. Overall, it is a 3,5/5 experience for me.

We stayed at HN Budapest City Hotel, and honestly, it’s nowhere near a 4-star hotel. The room was very dusty. After the first night, both my husband and I woke up with completely blocked noses because of the dust. We even had to go buy allergy pills. The windows have poor insulation, so you can clearly hear noise from outside. The toilet kept making noise all the time, which was pretty annoying, especially at night. In the bathroom, there were even hairs on the ceiling. There weren’t even basic things like slippers, which you’d normally expect in a 4-star hotel. Overall, we were really disappointed. Definitely not the level we expected, and we wouldn’t stay here again.

There was black mold in the bathroom on the ceiling. Very dangerous for health. I'm surprised it's grown to this point without being noticed. I had originally asked for late checkout but I decided to run out of there when I saw it. There were some other issues - the sink didn't drain well, the tissues were empty (just 2 remaining), there was no cooling in the room which is standard I guess but the room was warm and the window had a note to not leave it open due to insects. So I couldn't adequately cool the room. Finally, I don't understand the half glass on the shower.. Water spills out so easily whole showering. This is 2025! 😅 Finally their wifi reception was so bad in the room. I had stayed in NH Ingolstadt in Germany many times and had the same issue, and put a review which they acknowledged but many years later it wasn't fixed. I guess poor wifi is global NH hotel issue. If you just want to sleep for a couple of nights and not really need stable wifi, it's fine but a bit pricey for that. Location is quite nice though.

Pros Excellent location – perfect for exploring both sides of the city, with very easy access to public transportation (tram, metro, bus). On-site parking – not free and spaces can’t be reserved, but still a big advantage. On-street parking nearby is more expensive and far more complicated. We left the car there for the entire stay and walked or used public transport. Very polite and helpful staff – friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They assisted us with directions, recommended the correct transport lines, and even provided handwritten notes with station names. Very good breakfast – wide variety including eggs, salads, breads, hot and cold beverages (coffee, tea, five kinds of juice), and even a morning soup. I tried almost everything — all of it was tasty. Cons Beds are very firm – clean and comfortable, but firmer than I personally prefer. Also, there was no availability of a double bed during our stay. Bathroom layout – the shower is inside a narrow bathtub, which feels unsafe and uncomfortable, especially for larger guests. Getting in and out is awkward, and the sink counter tends to get completely wet. Towels were thin and rough. Noise & ventilation (room-dependent) – our first room had no outward-facing window and an issue with the air-conditioning. We had to sleep with the window open and could hear everything happening in the lobby and reception area. Important note After speaking with reception the next morning, the staff immediately understood the issue and moved us to another room with an outward-facing window. This made a significant difference, although the room itself was otherwise identical. Overall I truly and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for its location, staff, parking convenience, and breakfast. If you are a light sleeper, as I am, I strongly recommend requesting a room with an outward-facing window.

The lady who assisted us at check-in was very nice. My request for extra pillows was granted. We also got a late checkout at 5 pm the next day so it was really super convenient. Room was nice, beds were comfortable and my only complaint would be that Housekeeping did not clear out some food item left in the fridge by the previous occupant. Since we were only staying 1 night I didn’t fuss as we didn’t use the fridge anyway and hopefully the hotel will ensure this doesn't happen again in the future.
