I stayed for 2 nights on a City break with my daughter in a Juniir Suite. Service on arrival atbthe hotel was excellent although despite being after 3pm, our room was not ready. The door/reception staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Our room was perfect for us and the location is so central for everywhere we wanted to visit. I had an issue with housekeeping in that we had none. Despite being away from our hotel most of the day, our room had still not been refreshed when we returned after 5pm and we were unable to get ready for dinner as we had no towels. I was advised that it could be up until 10pm before my room was refreshed as there was only 1 staff member allocated to my floor! Eventually fresh towels were brought but our bins were not emptied, toilet roll not replenished and beds not made during our stay. I holiday in 5 star hotels to be pampered and this service was disappointing. I then had a card slid under my door asking me to contact reception only for them to tell me I had signed costs to my room. I was well aware of this and advised at check in that my deposit of €100 was for this purpose. Our costs totalled €99.20 therefore why was i called? Would this not be settled at check out?

We have enjoyed our stay at NH Collection Gran Calderon both times we have stayed there. The rooms are very clean and in our last stay we had a beautiful view of Sagrada Familia from our window. The service is great! Starting from the time you arrive, the staff is so friendly and helpful! Location is awesome! It is at walking distance to Casa Batllo, Plaza de Catalunya, etc. I truly recommend this hotel for people traveling to Barcelona!

Google
The NH Collection hotel in Barcelona is very well positioned. You have taxi cabs right in front of the hotel and the metro system is down the street. This made the transportation experience extremely easy. the restaurant and specially breakfast was superb. Awesome variety and great food. The only reason why the review is not a perfect 5 was a 4, was due to the rooms. We selected a high floor for a view of the city and it was awesome, HOWEVER the room had no drawers to put our clothes in. We picked the superior room. We basically had to live out of our suitcases, dirty clothes on the floor. For a five day stay this was very cumbersome. The memorable experience that stood the most, her name is DEBORA, if you are new to Barcelona ask for Debora, her hospitality was second to none, she made a personable unique experience to ensure we knew were to go in the city, places to see. ||||Overall, good experience.

Google
Prime location; walkable distance to all tourists attractions. Staff are friendly and helpful; my request for late checkout was fulfilled last day. Room is decent; but sound isolation can be improved. We stayed at a lower floor and the street noises were noticeable.

Google
The hotel’s location is outstanding, right on La Rambla, making it extremely convenient for shopping, dining, and accessing major attractions. While the rooms are relatively compact, they are very clean, well-maintained, and efficiently designed. Rooms with a La Rambla view are a definite plus and add real value to the stay. Overall, a solid choice for travelers who prioritize location, cleanliness, and walkability in Barcelona.

Google
Had an excellent time at this hotel, service is awesome. In particular the ELEVEN BCN rooftop bar was fantastic. Great drinks and our server over a couple nights Imran was absolutely fantastic! Super friendly and excellent service, truly made our experience! The views at sunset are amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Google
We came here for our delayed honeymoon and therefore booked a five star hotel, and decided to spend a bit more money. However we are a little bit disappointed after our stay. Yes - the rooftop was incredible and the view incomparable, but the pool was freezing so we didn't use the rooftop as much as we thought we would. The room was not worth the price, it was quite rusty and had some weird marks on the walls, especially behind the bed. It was a wheelchair room, and accessibility wise it was good. The breakfast was okay, but again not incredible. There was however a really lovely staffmember called Maria who looked after everyone and she was so sweet. The coffee machine was broken and so she made me a coffee. The thing is, if this wasn't a five star hotel I wouldn't be disappointed, but it definitely did not feel like it was. There were a few other things that happened but bottom line is that it didn't feel as nice as we'd hoped. So - if you're after an extra special hotel, I'm not sure I would recommend this one. It just wasn't quite worth the price.

Google
The location is absolutely perfect. It's very central and within walking distance of most of Barcelona’s main attractions, restaurants, and shops. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient. However, the hotel is quite pricey considering that breakfast isn’t included. We initially assumed it was part of the rate, so that was a bit disappointing. The rooms are on the smaller side, but the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious and modern. We did notice a clicking sound from the plumbing pipes after each shower; it came and went but was a little annoying at times. The rooftop bar has great views, but the staff there can be a bit rude and dismissive. In contrast, the front desk staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our stay. Overall, I wouldn’t rate this hotel a full five stars, more like a solid four. For the price, the location makes it worth it, but the lack of complimentary breakfast and some service inconsistencies hold it back from being truly exceptional.

Yelp
I stayed at NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderón for a week, and by the end, it truly felt like a home away from home. My room on the 9th floor was spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The bathroom was also roomy, with plenty of counter space -- enough for both of us to spread out our things easily. I really appreciated the Nespresso machine, which got daily use, and housekeeping was generous with restocking pods, water bottles, and toiletries. The housekeeping team did an excellent job tidying up every day -- it always felt fresh and welcoming when we returned. The mini fridge was another plus -- there was actually space to store a few personal items (a rare treat these days!), unlike those weight-sensitive setups you find in Las Vegas that charge you for just picking something up. Our room had lovely city views facing toward the coast, and the bathroom even had a charming peek-a-boo view of the Sagrada Família -- such a fun surprise! If I'm being picky, a couple of small details showed a bit of wear: the tub drained slowly, and the A/C never got super cold (thankfully, I travel with a small fan, so that helped a lot). But overall, the positives far outweighed the little quirks. The location was excellent -- convenient for everything we wanted to do -- and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It might be a 4.5-star experience on paper, but it served us so well that I'm happily rounding up. Five stars from me -- I'd absolutely stay here again!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in February. We had to bring our dogs last minute because our pet sitter had a medical emergency. The hotel was willing to accommodate us at the last minute. Location: It is right in the heart of Eixample with many tourist attractions within walking distance such as Casa Battlo and Casa Mill. The Passeig de Gràcia subway station is right around the corner. There are lots of tapas places within a 5 minute walk. Room: We booked a premium room and it was very spacious, with a separate living area. The bed was very comfortable and there were two separate closets to store our stuff. There was also a small balcony. Staff: Everyone was wonderful from the front desk, housekeeping, valets, and managers. They brought two dog beds, bowls, and treats. We also received a welcome gift of food that was in our room. Breakfast: The buffet was generous and there was so much to choose from - all of which was tasty. The hostesses were extremely friendly and made our dogs feel welcome (we were able to bring them to the restaurant in their stroller) My only complaint is that I wish they had better cappuccinos at breakfast. The machines make weak coffee and one didn't work properly. There is a machine in the adjacent restaurant and we would have preferred to order one, even if a fee was to be charged. We had a great experience staying here, in large part, because they made us and our dogs feel like VIPs. We would happily come back here and have discussed doing so again soon since Barcelona is only 5 hours away.

Yelp
On recommendation from friends in Barcelona, we booked four nights here and it was an excellent choice of places to stay in this vibrant city. Location is walking distance to transportation and just off of the very busy main street. Just outside is a more quiet street with a restaurant/cafe "strip" in between this two-lane street. Walk out the door for a drink, snack or meal. Very convenient. Our Premium XL double rooms was quite nice, which included breakfast. I booked it on the internet and the staff were very responsive, in English, as we jockeyed among room and amenity options. They were so nice that when my wife and I finally got in, I asked the registration people if I could meet the office people to thank them. Out the four of them came, and they were a little embarrassed at our thanks. Count on them to take care of you. The daily breakfast was great. A full assortment of serve-yourself fruits, breads, meats and a small menu of cooked items, like omelettes and eggs to order. Very nice coffee machines were there, along with a good variety of fresh juices. Staff were very nice and most all spoke or could understand English. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Items stolen from room. My family stayed at the NH BNC last week. When out for dinner someone accessed our room and stole my wife's Hermes shoes, two nice hand bags, air pods.... and actually went through my toiletry kit and took a bottle of cologne. We altered the front desk. They investigated who accessed our room, saying that it was only Housekeeping. They asked the housekeeper if she stole anything and shockingly, she said "no" We selected this hotel through AmEX, who we have also spoken with. The hotel has done very little to resolve this, other saying we need to file a police report, which they told us after returning to the US. I was able to track my airpods, they seem to be having a great time back in Barcelona. Amazing city, just stay at a different hotel.

Michael A.

Yelp
I stayed here for the weekend before leaving on a cruise. I forgot my medicine in the fridge for about an hour. I came back, front desk, and house keeping staff said my medicine was not there. But all my syringes and other medicine case was there. Someone on staff stole the medicine after being left in the fridge for just a couple hours. Be careful what you leave here in the room. I should have listened to the other reviews on theft in this hotel.

Yelp
Very cool spot - only stayed for a night but would definitely come back! Great neighborhood and the hotel employees were extremely friendly.

Yelp
We booked a premium XL Room that supposed to be on a high floor, 2 beds and it comes with Culinary amenity upon arrival . We arrived after over 24 hrs of traveling and after we checked in at the front desk and they collected the deposit they informed me that the room is not ready so we waited and no one came or called to let us know that the room is ready .. we found out 1.5 hr later when I went again to the front desk to check the status! The high floor was the 3rd floor .. horrible views to a construction site , instead of going to relax after the long flight, we had to hear the construction noise and the construction workers screaming the whole time. Sheets were so dirty and have holes all over. Weed smell in the hallway. They left a small chocolate as the (Culinary amenity upon arrival) I informed the front desk of all the complaints and showed them pictures of dirty sheets. They had me meet with the manager and all she could help with was to separate the beds in the room to have 2 beds or DOWNGRADE my room . I agreed to separate the beds and refused the downgrade and her offer to give me a voucher for a free drink at one of the restaurants at the hotel to compensate for all the dirty sheets, construction noise and everything else that was going wrong . Been 3 days and I'm still waiting for the beds to be separated!! Been sleeping on the dirts very uncomfortable pull-out sofa . Will never book in NH hotel ever again.

Yelp
I've stayed at other NH Collection hotels in Italy and Spain, and this one didn't measure up to the others. It was ok, but not great. During our 5 nights at the hotel, they were hosting business conferences. So be aware if you are having breakfast at the hotel buffet, you are competing with business people trying to finish breakfast before their meetings begin. There is only 1 coffee machine (for espresso, americano, latte, etc) and you must wait your turn. One morning I finally got to the front of the line only to find that they had run out of coffee cups. They need to improve this process. My advice is: track down a server (they don't always come to your table) and order a hot breakfast from the kitchen. It is much better that what you will find at the buffet. You are also competing with the business conference folks to use the elevators. They tell you that check in is at 3:00 pm. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes since rooms were not available. There were others waiting for their rooms with us. The front desk people are very nice and helpful. It's not their fault the rooms are not available. It seems to be a management issue. The room is very sparsely furnished for travelers. Small tables instead of nightstands. One small closet that also has the safe. Minimal places to put your suitcase. Just not furnished with a traveler staying for 5 nights in mind. And the furniture is plastic and chipped in places. Like what you would expect from a hotel that is turning overs business conference attendees on a regular basis. The location was very central. I would recommend this area if you are sightseeing. Several Yelp reviewers enjoyed the rooftop bar. There are nice views up there. There is a dedicated elevator for people going to the bar that appeared to be available to anyone. So, you don't need to be a guest of the hotel to go up to the bar for a drink and to see the view.

Yelp
We had the best visit to Barcelona staying here. The rooftop pool and bar has the most INSANE views of the city. And it's in such a central location, so easy to get to anywhere you want to go.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow this place is great. Found a good last minute deal and enjoyed every minute of this place. The rooftop area is great and the pool is so much fun to use. swimming while seeing a sprawling and beautiful city skyline is just an amazing experience. It might be more expensive than other places but the location is great, the staff are amazing and the building is quite lavish. The bathroom mirror has anti fog so you can still see yourself after a hot shower. Just wow.

Yelp
Barcelona was our first stop on a two city love affair and boy did it wow. The entire experience was made spectacular thanks to the excellent staff and care at the NH Calderón. The breakfast is the best I've seen at any such hotel. The choices were fantastic and the service was outstanding. The location is beyond excellent; you roll out of bed and fall into Rambla Catalunya which is the hub of all the best restaurants and tourist attractions. We had amazing dining options just around us and walked everywhere. The cab drivers are extremely friendly and are located right outside the hotel. We didn't get to use the rooftop deck but honestly it's worth going up there. The views are brilliant as is the pool and the lovely setting. The room itself was incredibly comfortable with a well designed layout. We had privacy, comfort and relaxation to make the jam-packed days more bearable. The internet is not the fastest but it's free; they have a paid option as well but we made do with what we had without too much inconvenience. Truly impressed with this hotel, the caring staff and the location which is unbeatable. We will be back and definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Great staff, great location! The rooms and hotel are super clean! The pool on the 11th floor is beautiful as well as the rooftop bar 11! The pool has about 15 lounge chairs which is not great if large groups are coming to the pool. The lobby is beautiful. The location is right by la Rambla and all shopping from high end to regular stores. Plenty of restaurants right outside the hotel. Highly recommend and would def come back!

Yelp
This is the fourth hotel we've stayed in on a 5 city excursion and it has the other four beat. We've stayed in Venice, Florence, and Rome and this hotel has all the best features of the other hotels combined. First- aesthetics. Appearance is sleek, modern, with clean lines and splashes of color to make the hotel welcoming. Second-service. Staff is friendly and welcoming from front desk to reception service and friendly dining room staff. Third-location. The hotel is one block away from a major metro location connecting you to everywhere you need to go. Plus, the district is filled with food and shopping spots galore. Fourth-amenities. Slippers, robe, towel warmer, big shower, spacious and organized closet space, large tv, and outdoor patio attached to room with view of Sagrada Familia Basilica in the distance. These points were not listed in any particular order other than the order in which they occurred to me. Thank you to the staff for providing us with a lovely stay.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I picked this location primarily because of its location to most major attractions in Barcelona. It's also just a short 10 minute walk from the Aerobus stop in Plaça de Catalunya. The hotel isn't exactly the fanciest hotel and has your typical, European-sized room, but the location can't be beat. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Barcelona.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
This hotel is AMAZING! Room has all the essentials and then some. Slippers, robes, lighted mag mirror in the bathroom, and even a wine bottle opener (which is rare to find now a days). Front desk staff are phenomenal. We book a tour 3rd party that canceled on us the night prior. The young lady working was able to book us a tour at half the price we paid and at a better time. Breakfast is way above average. Fresh pressed juices, cooked to order omelets, I even found chia pudding one morning. The rooftop bar and pool area is what sold me on this being my new favorite hotel. Great lounge chairs with umbrellas, views of the ocean, mountains, and La Sagrada Familia. At night bar Eleven is the spot to have a night cap. Bartender even brought me a bowl of snacks and a blanket while I slipped my cocktail. The atmosphere and service here is top notch. If I find myself in Barcelona again, without question, I would stay here again.

Yelp
Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Our stay included breakfast and I would strongly recommend this package. The breakfast buffet consisted of a plethora of options from freshly squeezed fruit juices and smoothies to honey dripping from an actual honey comb to use on your yogurt or in your tea, endless meats, cheeses and pastries (including gluten free options) even customizable omelets. More standard, less thrilling options were available as well (cereal, bagels, hard boiled eggs). We never tired of the impressive breakfast during our stay and was a very nice included perk. Our room came equipped with USB outlets built into the nightstands which eliminated the need for converters to charge our American devices, a huge convenience! Also, the free WiFi was a godsend for us foreign travelers without international cell phone packages. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding us with any sightseeing/travel queries we had. The hotel lobby also offered a flavored water option, changed daily, which was nice to have upon our return from very warm days out in the sun (they also changed out their gummy options daily - a nice, sweet, free snack!) Situated in the Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona, the location is wonderful with access to the metro right around the corner. And on the actual corner you will find the delicious Ciudad Comptal (so yummy, check it out). But there are loads of nearby food and shopping options. And enjoy some pool time or a night cap on the lovely roof! The views are breathtaking.

Yelp
It's hard to evaluate hotels when they are outside of the U.S. - even if you are in a pretty crappy hotel, you'll still generally have a decent amount of space. Especially in Europe, the room space can diminish significantly. Nevertheless, on the recommendation of my parents (who had been here before), my then-girlfriend and I stayed at Hesperia Ramblas for several nights when visiting Barcelona last year. It's right off of Las Ramblas, so you're pretty close to a lot of the action already, although if you are interested in the area around Barceloneta and the beach, you'll have to walk a bit. The folks at the front desk speak credible English, and they're helpful in terms of getting a cab for the early morning cab ride to the airport if needed - very useful. That said, the room itself is indeed pretty small, and I did notice that there was a fly or two that would show up most of the time. Another issue I had was the Internet connectivity in the room - the Wi-Fi was quite slow, and on occasion the connection would die entirely. I'm sure you can use the business center they have if you need a solid connection to the Internet, but it was nonetheless a bit displeasing to endure the spottiness. You're in a prime location here, so you can't beat it. It's not super cheap (as an American, you'll be surprised that close to $190/night gets you a room that ain't all that big), but the bathroom amenities are modern, and it does the job - namely, giving you a solid spot to sleep at night.

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights during my trip to Barcelona. I booked the hotel through Expedia.com. The actual check-in process was very simple. The room that we were in had a decent view of Rambla Catalunya. The rooms come standard with 2 full size beds, a closet area, and a desk. The rooms are relatively spacious. The bathroom was well kept and had all the necessary amenities. SERVICE: The concierge was very friendly. We had no problem checking in. They also spoke decent English which was helpful. There FREE wireless internet though it's REALLY SLOW. Also one had to use a new access code every day. Not to worry though since they have tons of those wireless code papers in the front. ENVIRONMENT: The hotel itself is well-kept and comfortable. It is also in a prime location so if you're hungry just walk outside and you'll find food. There is also a nice rooftop pool. There are several lounge chairs for hotel guests to lie on. Actually one doesn't have to be a hotel guest to get to the top. Overall, decent hotel place to stay at in Barcelona. It's on the busy street of Rambla Catalunya. The staff was great and spoke decent English. The prices were also relatively standard for the area and the rating of the hotel. I believe we payed a little under $200 a night. The hotel is about 20 minutes away from the airport. I would stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
Location, location! Not in the dreaded Ramblas, but close enough to walk and take a peek, this fine hotel is well situated for most of the tourist sights: the Gaudi Houses and the Sagrada Familia, the Passeig de Gracia, the Old Town and The Port. The spacious rooms are beautifully fitted and supplied with wonderful toilet products. There is a swimming pool and terrace on the roof, with great views across the city. The breakfast could be made to last half a day, with extended opening hours and every type of food imaginable, including cava if you want a Buck's Fizz for brekky. Another great advantage is that the Calderon is two steps away from what I believe to be one of Barca's best Tapas Bars - the Ciudad Condal Cervecería; even if you don't stay at the (pricey) Calderon, you simply must eat at the Ciudad Condal!

Yelp
Just flew in from Paris and had stayed at the Sofitel Baltimore arrived to this place. I am so disappointed and NOTHING and I mean NOTHING like the Sofitel. No one to get our bags, did not greet us as we walked in. It's our first day here and the stupid room wood floors buckled, patio door to deck broken, and barely any room to walk through the room. The most unfriendly staff- seriously not even a smile as they walk by you. We couldn't take the way the room was and we asked to change rooms. Instead of how can we make it better, we get the rolled eyes. No apologies for the inconvenience. Nothing. Whoever stayed previously and gave this hotel 4.7 stars rating has not stayed at a hotel like a true 5 star hotel. This particular hotel has given the rest of the NH Collection a very bad reputation. So disappointed.

Sherman O.

Yelp
The front desk was not friendly from the moment we checked in. Nobody at the front desk was friendly our entire 3 day stay. Rooms are very small. There is approximately 4 inches of space from the toilet to the bidet to the shower. Good luck moving around. Rooms are clean, but the fact that you have play a game of twister to get in and out of the shower and toilet is kinda nuts. Hair dryer has a time limit. Once it gets hot it needs 5 to 10 minutes to cool down before it works again. Stay here if you want to waste your money.

Yelp
Great updated hotel in the centre of town. Good Service nice breakfast and clean rooms. I would happily come back here for short breaks.

Yelp
Barcelona is our fourth stop on our Europe tour and included in our package is NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel. Its location is right at the center of everything. Literally a few steps from here are great restaurants that we have tried and are so pleased. The Hotel has quite a modern vibe with clean and comfortable rooms. Another great addition is their Free Breakfast Buffet with a variety of awesome choices and even included is their 'smoothie bar'. We are so satisfied with this Hotel and not to forget the AWESOME and GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE they have. immediately we were greeted by JOSE LUIS. JOSE was such a gentleman and really on point with whatever you need and of course the front desk were so friendly and accomodating. They assist us in whatever questions and inquiries we have. Overall this was a highly recommended place to stop by if you happen to be in this lovely city.

Yelp
Can always count on NH Hotels to be up to par with the cleanliness and the trends, outfitting and technology. They understand importance of Free WiFi, LED TVs, quiet air conditioner, healthy choices for room service, and other standards not so common in buildings in Europe. I stated in NH Hotels in Livorno, Palermo, Rome and always got same exact set of standards at affordable price,- True value for money! Love it!

Yelp
Pro: Great location, roof top pool and very modern design. Con: Construction, dust, noise and non-functioning air condition system in room and restaurant. Assistant manager acknowledged our room air conditioning system was broken that combined with the continuos construction noise and inconvenience makes this hotel a place not to stay. We stayed two nights and nothing was done after we complained. Try another hotel...

Debra R.

Yelp
Stayed 4 nights in oct 2019. Hotel was nice. Good location. Always people around the front desk for anything you needs. Friendly and eager to help. Room was nice. We upgraded to a 2 room suite. The second room had a couch that was a sofa bed ( we used it as a couch). It's not a fancy hotel but well kept. Cleaning staff also very nice. I would recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Loved our stay. Staff friendly. Breakfast buffet the best free buffet. Room fantastic. Location perfect in between Los rambles and gracia. Rooftop bar has perfect view.
