NH Collection Palazzo Cinquecento (Rome, Lazio) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"What the area around the Stazione Termini lacks in picturesque beauty it more than makes up for in convenience, and thanks to its easy access to the rest of Rome it’s an eminently sensible place to stay. More now than ever before — the neighborhood’s somewhat seedy reputation is slowly changing, thanks, in part, to a handful of businesses that seem intent on infusing the neighborhood with an air of elegance. The NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento is one of these." - Tablet Hotels

Very stylish hotels with great rooms and perfect cleanliness. The breakfast has a wide variety. Location in my opinion is unbeatable (Termini is not the greatest neighborhood but all of the big train stations are like this in Europe). The garden gives the hotel a serene and calm vibe away from the craziness of the city. The staff's attention to detail is admirable. They surprised my friend for her birthday and we always felt welcomed and well taken care of. I think there's basically nothing that they wouldn't do for their guests and it really shows. A big thank you for team for making our stay special. ❤️We would return in a heartbeat.

My family just stayed here for 3 nights. The room is very clean, and the service is really good! Every staff is super nice. The location is convenient. It’s next to subway station so very convenient. I highly recommend.

Absolutely unacceptable experience for a property that claims to be a five-star hotel and is promoted by American Express. Upon arrival, I attempted to enter what is clearly marked outside as hotel parking. The parking attendant was immediately rude and aggressive and told me I was not allowed to park there, claiming it had “nothing to do with the hotel.” He then forced my wife, my children, and me out of the parking area, leaving us with nowhere to stop. I was then forced to drive around the area for over 15 minutes, eventually stopping on the street with hazard lights on just to run inside and check in — while my family waited in the car. This is unsafe, stressful, and completely unacceptable. At the front desk, the staff was clearly not trained to handle guest issues. Despite our rooms being fully prepaid through American Express, there was no empathy, no apology, and no attempt to resolve the situation. Instead, the front desk called the parking attendant, who denied rejecting us, and the hotel simply accepted his version of events. So apparently my wife, son, daughter, and I all imagined being kicked out of the parking area. No apology. No accountability. No effort to make things right. The only reason I did not immediately leave and go to another hotel is because today is December 29, peak season in Rome, and finding alternative accommodations at this point would have been nearly impossible. Being trapped in a bad situation due to lack of availability does not excuse the hotel’s behavior — it makes it worse. To make matters even more tone-deaf, after all of this, the front desk attempted to sell me tickets to their end-of-year dinner at the hotel restaurant. After being treated with such disregard and hostility, I had absolutely no confidence or comfort level to dine there. Trust matters, and by that point, it was completely gone. This is not five-star service. It is not even acceptable three-star service. I am genuinely shocked that American Express associates its brand with a property that shows such a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic hospitality. I strongly advise travelers — especially families or anyone arriving by car — to stay elsewhere.

The staff were fantastic - very helpful, willing to assist, listened to my poor attempts to describe what I am seeking. Housekeeping folks exceptionally good at cleaning our room. Because of the heatwave they ensured our rooms were well supplied with bottles of water. Room seems small but good enough as I think it is palatial sized compared to other Italian hotels. View from the room is lovely. Location is central, and the breakfast buffet is delicious.

We had the best experience at this hotel from the minute we walked in until the day we left 910 days later). The location is golden if you are planning trips with the trains. Its located walking distance to the train station. The atmosphere is pleasant and every person we interacted were very welcoming. The rooms are spacious and very clean, thanks Simona for the care to our room. We found everything we needed in the room. There was no noise during our stay and the amenities were excellent. We found the price a good value for everything that they offer. Our special thanks to Mihaela, which took extraordinary care of us in the dinning area. For 10 days she went out of her way to provide us with a stand out service which you only find in high end resorts. Breakfast is abundant with lots of varieties to choose from. Many thanks also to her colleagues, Gianfranco and Raffaella. Lets not forget to give a big thanks to Buba, the greatest greater of all times which welcomed us with a distinct professionalism! And last but not least many thanks to Alexandro at the front desk who assisted us with the accommodations and offered us a great room with many perks included, and a perfect service. The owners are also hands on and willing to help out. Thank you all for making our stay so magical! We will definitely come back. Soon is not soon enough!

This review is intended to recognize Jon Paul from the night shift, who provided us with exceptional customer service. We experienced some confusion with the room I booked through Amex and were charged a significantly high fee for an extra person. After a long flight, we were exhausted and didn’t have the energy to ask questions about the additional charges at check-in.||||Later that evening, after settling in and going out to dinner, we returned to the hotel and were warmly greeted by Jon Paul, who welcomed us with a big smile and asked if we needed anything. The following day, after exploring Rome, Jon Paul greeted us again, which prompted me to ask about the extra charges and to mention that the sofa bed in our suite was broken. He sincerely apologized and immediately assured us that he would have it checked as soon as possible. He also promised to do his best to help reduce the extra person charges.||||Jon Paul truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant stay. He followed through on his promise and successfully lowered the extra person charges. Aside from the hotel’s convenient location next to Termini, I would gladly return to and recommend this hotel because of Jon Paul and the excellent service he provided.||||Thank you, Jon Paul!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento. We arrived early, and the staff kindly accommodated us with an early check-in. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Massimo, Nice, John Paul, Elviro, and Claudio, who served us with professionalism, respect, and dedication.||It’s clear that the staff take pride in their work and genuinely enjoy being part of the team. I especially noticed Claudio, the head waiter, who prioritized the well-being of his colleagues by covering their responsibilities while they were on break. Such thoughtful and team-oriented service made our experience even more memorable.||We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning!

Google
The hotel staff are brilliant and the hotel itself is lovely, especially the roof top terrace with lovely views of rome. I found one or two bits in the room looking a bit tired but it was immaculately clean which is most important. The location itself is great for the train station but it a little walk to down town so whether you deem it to be a good location is dependent on your needs.

Yelp
We checked into the hotel mid-afternoon and the younger front desk staff seemed new and unsure of his answers. We asked about the gym and he had to enable the access to our cards which was strange because it's usually automatic. We asked about the breakfast cost and he said it's 40 or so euros per person which is expensive but we had our hotel credit so we decided to go. He also told us that we needed to go to the front desk the next day and tell them we were going to get breakfast since we didn't buy it prior as part of our stay. The following day the front desk staff member told us we didn't need to inform them and that we just needed to tell the breakfast staff our room number. Breakfast was not worth it. It was mediocre and honestly underwhelming for everyone who raved about it online. Breakfast was later charged to our room for around $25 per person which is less than what the front desk man said which is a relief to know that it's not as expensive as we thought but it's still overpriced. We had to go to the front desk to inquire about the room charge because we had a credit to use and they had to fix the room charges to apply the credit so be warned if you have hotel credit that it's actually applied. The gym is in the basement and is all the way at the end of the hallway. It's literally a small room with 2 bicycles, 1 treadmill, 1 row machine, a bench and a small rack of weights. Much like breakfast, the gym is underwhelming and mediocre. They have a basic and a paid wifi. I don't think I've ever stayed at a 5 star hotel where they had a tiered wifi selection. Usually this is something I've seen in cheaper hotels. We went back at night after a day out and the same young man was working the front desk. We asked if we could have an extra bottle of water sent to our room and he looked shocked. He told us the one in our room was complimentary but we would have to use the mini bar after that. That felt strange like a 5 star hotel couldn't afford to give another bottle of water and was forcing you to use their mini bar. Maybe we're used to water being free at hotels and this was a culture shock but the interaction felt off. I think if he said we could use the mini bar or buy water elsewhere, it would have felt less nickel and dime instead of pressuring us to use the mini bar. There's a doorman who will open the side entrance door during the day and at night because it's partially locked at night. When we went to leave with our luggages and backpacks in the morning, one of the doorman didn't even help us with the door. He watched us struggle to open the door to leave and then just came down the stairs to close the door behind us. The rooms are nice and spacious. They let in a lot of light and the window can be opened for fresh air. The bathroom is spacious, but I wish there was more counter space. There was an air purifier in our room which was a cool feature, but we didn't realize it was there for a purpose until our last night when our room smelled like cigarette smoke. Staff members in the Uniqlo across from us were smoking and we could smell it in our room and had to use the purifier in the bedroom. You can also check out online and leave your keys in the room but double check any charges you have for accuracy. The location is great and right near the terminal which is convenient for accessing the metro or high speed rail to other cities. There's a market in the terminal and around it so you can buy water or other supplies. There's also a food market in the terminal to check stuff out and grab some food when you arrive. Overall I'm not sure would recommend for the price despite the convenient location.

Yelp
This stay was pleasant enough but I don't think it runs the way a hotel of this caliber should. We came in through the backside from Roma Termini next door. Glad we did, because I would have had even more sour feelings if my first impression was the disgusting construction project in front of the hotel. I will warn you now, if you go that way, you will have hours before the horrendous smell of human urine leaves your nose. I actually witnessed people peeing there when we came back from a bar the first night. It's really bad. We were waiting in line to check in and the guest relations person decided to jump in and help us, after coming up to us and saying that the guy in front of me didn't cut and we would be next. Super odd as we hadn't been waiting that long. She didn't have to do this because the desk was clear of all guests by the time we stepped up. I really couldn't tell if she was messing with me or if she was being nice. She kept saying that I must be "so special" for using American Express. I'd like to believe she was being nice, but again, I wasn't sure. She is not a front desk agent, so she had to keep asking someone for help and she also tried to charge us again for the pre-paid stay. I went down later in the evening when she was gone to correct it. The agent told me she should have never been helping and that she did make things harder for me. Our room was "upgraded" and I wish they gave me the room I paid for. The bathroom was a nightmare. The shower was in a dark corner, with a trickle coming our of the dirty, clogged showerhead. The towel warmer is around the corner, above the bidet and I hit my head on the temp gauge. I had a bump on my head for two days. The light switches didn't work unless you slammed or pressed them for a very long time. And to top everything off, while we were packing our last night, around 1030pm, the bed broke. The wheels flew off when my husband put his hand down to adjust his seating. We had to change rooms and were given the same style of room I paid for. So much nicer! Upon checking out, again more issues, them saying we had checked out the night before (when our room was changed) and that they couldn't do anything about the room being charged twice. That was not an answer I wanted to hear but she said she would "try" to fix it and send the receipt via email. Luckily, the pending charge did drop off but I never got a receipt.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with a great ambiance and exceptional customer service. From the front desk check-in to the servers at breakfast, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast host, Nicola, was amazing. We ate breakfast on the beautiful patio overlooking the garden and he protected us from the birds and bees so we could enjoy our delicious breakfast in peace. This hotel is centrally located near the bus station and not far from the Colosseum. It is waking distant to great shops, bars, and restaurants. I definitely recommend anyone to stay here when visiting Rome.

Yelp
Really clean inside. I thought it was a really nice hotel. Super friendly staff. Breakfast was good. I loved the location of the hotel. (Right next to the train station) Although the location at night is pretty sketchy..... still didn't stop me from wondering. Used the lime scooters to get around. Everything is about a mile. 20-30 min walk, or 10 min scooter ride. For late night snacks.... You have a McDonald's across the train station open 24 hours. (sketch at night) The guest relations manager (nice is her name) remembered my name and room number. Our room was 413. Directly across from the church. I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
First time in Rome traveling by rail from Venice, so I picked this hotel from the Costco Travel offerings given that it was a short walk from the train station. There's literally dozens of smaller ristorantes dotted all around the train terminal area as well as several eateries on several floors within the station. The suite we booked was home for four nights and we found the overall location, front desk, housekeeping, morning buffet breakfast and hotel security to be top notch. Location was right next to the Roma Termini so we easily caught Roma Metro subway to various parts of the city. But I would say splurge, save yourself the headache of getting totally lost or fending off would be pickpockets and just grab a cab outside the front door. There's a taxi que 30 yards from the front door but security will happily hail you a cab bypassing the long waiting line. When out in the city, especially the ruins, beware there are few if any streets signs and your phone GPS is literally spinning and useless. Always, look for a taxi stand and spend a few extra Euros, buses and subways are awful. Better yet, sign up for a Golf Cart or private car tour with hotel pickup and drop off, your legs will thank you for them. With all the good things the hotel has going for it, at these prices ($600+ per night), for one thing we really expected more adequate drawer and/or closet space. And on a more serious note, there were no towel hooks or safety grab bars anywhere in the large bathroom. None. Zilch. Imagine stepping gingerly across a soapy slick tiled shower floor with nothing to grab onto anywhere. Even a Motel 6 in the U.S. has enough sense to screw in a couple of $1 towel hooks or protect themselves from lawsuits by installing safety grab bars in and out of the shower stall. The shower in our room must backup quite often as the bathroom door two feet away has started to rot away at the bottom of the door casing. Understandable but unacceptable at luxury hotel prices.

Yelp
Bed is comfortable. It's clean Bathroom is nice Living room space Two tvs And it's close to everything! Including the market! I would say it's a good spot. I've been to the other NH hotel in Rome and this one is a lot nicer and newer.

Yelp
Having the pleasure of staying at this very nice hotel, having our luggage Delayedfor 3 days was not a great way to start a holiday in Rome that we waited a life time to experience. The front desk staff was amazing as well as other departments . I tip my Hat to those that made or stay terrific. Being in Hospitality myself, they are a great staff.

Yelp
We booked this hotel through a vacation package with Costco Travel. It's located right next to the train station, which is a lot more attractive than it sounds. It was a short walk to the metro station and allowed us to easily catch our train when we left Rome. However, it is a bit of a walk or taxi ride for sightseeing, so be sure to check the city map if that might be a problem for you. The Premium XL room we booked was huge. More closet and storage space than I think I've ever seen in a hotel room. All the amenities you need are provided. The breakfast buffet each morning was amazing. More choices than I can list and they would whip up an omlette for you if you asked for one. Any buffet that includes Prosecco is perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They gave us some solid restaurant recommendations and were able to quickly summon a taxi for us on a few occassions. I give them 5 stars, but I do have a couple of things that were disappointing. We arrived about 10:00 in the morning. I had chatted with customer service via the NH Collections website in advance and they told me they would notify the hotel in case they could get us in our room early. When we arrived there was no record of this request and they held firm to a 3:00 pm check-in time. I asked to break my 20 Euro bill for something smaller while we killed time until 3:00. Nothing doing. They wouldn't break the 20. That day. I tried again a couple of days later and the new team at the desk gladly broke it for me. It's a small thing, but offering water while we sat in the lobby would have been nice. Occasionally late in the day during our stay, they would bring out bottled water in the lobby for guests. Not every day, so I'm not sure what their strategy is. But, just please acknowledge that I've been flying for 24 hours and could use a cold beverage. We were supposed to receive a "welcome drink" anyway as part of our reservation, but that was never offered either. Otherwise, a great hotel and a wonderful stay in Rome. I'd book this hotel again.

Yelp
Right next to the train station which isn't the greatest area but it's convenient if you are traveling. Easy and efficient service plus big comfy modern rooms. Stated express check out but apparently you have to actually stand in line like everyone and check out even if you don't have a balance to pay. Average bar and restaurant with breakfast buffet. You have to call the front desk to regulate the room temperature which was annoying and having to call a couple times. Flashing light all night on the ceiling which I assume was a smoke detector and very annoying.

Yelp
I came here with my husband on our honeymoon and the entire stay here was a great experience. We checked in after a long day of traveling from Spain and we were exhausted. The check-in was quick and friendly and our standard room was quite nice for our three day tour of Rome. I showered after unpacking and inadvertently flooded our bathroom. Scared the ceiling in the room below us would leak, I called the front desk for towels and assistance. They immediately transferred us to a larger room with a great city view since they took responsibility for the flood (it was truly my fault). The next day the manager of guest relations, Marta, sent me a handwritten note and a box of truffles along with her business card. We exchanged emails and then met the following morning for a chat. She made my trip! Get the breakfast included. My god. What a spread. Fruit, eggs, bacon sausage cereal yogurt pastries meats cheese prosecco juice espresso and cappuccino. Pasties... panna cotta. Mouse. Tiramisu. For breakfast. Can't wait to come back.

Dan B.

Yelp
The lighting in our room didn't work and a hotel employee got stuck in an elevator malfunction while coming up to take a look. The laundry service also wasn't available the days we were told it would, and the hotel couldn't provide any help besides "Maybe try to find a laundromat nearby.". Getting access to the tiny fitness center was also difficult, a bit like pulling teeth. I am sorry for the bad review but at this price point these types of problems really shouldn't happen.

Yelp
Great location and amenities. Great staff. Nice' took care of our golf arrangements; she went above and beyond.

Yelp
We had two rooms as there were three of us. We were staying in Rome for three days after a cruise. The first night the hotels air conditioner broke, just for the rooms, not the entire hotel. We all kept waking up all night because it was so hot. When we complained the next day we were told that it was being repaired but not given any compensation. On our final night I went down stairs to the restaurant to order some food to bring up to the room. I was told NO!! I could not do that. I wanted to order a pizza for 14 euro(s) but the lady bartender told me they would have to charge me 10 euros to bring it up to me. She was so rude and I wasn't going to pay 10 euros to have them deliver a pizza I could bring up myself. The staff (except for one young lady) were all pretty rude and unhelpful. We had stayed in Barcelona pre cruise for two nights at the NH Collection and they were very helpful, very pleasant and very accommodating. The folks here in Rome definitely need to learn some customer service and perhaps some manners. If these folks are trying to get tourists out of their country, they certainly drove this tourist away. This was my second time in Italy and I definitely won't come back here. If anyone I know wants a recommendation as to where to stay I would recommend you stay somewhere else. My friends were staying in another room and said that their shower had all sorts of mold in the shower, GROSS!!!

Yelp
Love this hotel. Room was HUMONGOUS. The spacing from the beds to the desk...it's like you can have a breakdance battle. Very clean, nice looking, and simple. My tour group also ate at their restaurant for dinner. Very elegantly plated food and delicious. They have breakfast in the same area and everything is laid out nicely and there's a lot of variety. It's located right next to the train station. Pricey hotel but worth the price!

Chris F.

Yelp
No clothing storage in our room, 2 small drawers in a narrow closet by the entry. I spoke to reception and they told me it's because I only booked a junior suite. There's a big empty space in the bedroom where a dresser should be, but I guess they prefer we live out of our suitcases. Also the lighting plan is ridiculous. Switches that don't do anything, switches that turn on lights in the OTHER ROOM. And while we waited 3.5 hours for our room to be ready, we paid 15 euros for two soft drinks in the bar. Not a great start to our time in Roma.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel during our Rome visit and we loved everything about it. The location is very close to the metro station and only two stops from the Colosseum Plaza. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Modern and clean. Our room was small. The front desk staff were so-so. Good location. The train station is very close and has a nice upscale food court.

Yelp
We thought this was a very nice hotel. We travel a lot and usually stay at Marriott's but decided to give NH brand a chance. Glad we did. If you're going to use the train or busses at all this hotel is right next to the main train station. It is a very luxe hotel. It's also secure with a big iron gate and part of the original Roman wall around it. The doorman who greeted us was wearing a top hat and tails! small but well appointed lobby. Check in was easy (I booked the room last minute on hotel tonight) we were only staying for one night. Everything was immaculate. We stayed on the third floor. Room 315. The room was small but adequate for us. A king bed, plenty of space to put our things, nice chair and ottoman and a bench at the foot of the bed. The bathroom was big and had really good amenities. Loved the hand cream. This is a not your typical European hotel way better! Even though it's in a busy location you do not hear a thing in the rooms. Great sound insulation. There's a roof top deck that has amazing views we brought our wine up there to drink. They have complimentary coffee, juice and pastries in the lobby 5-7 am. We ate at the breakfast buffet which was amazing. See my pictures! This is a good place to stay on your way in and out of Rome to other locations in Italy. Easy train ride on the Leonardo express to and from the airport. Close 10min walk to the trevi fountain and other sites.

Yelp
Great service! Nice, clean, updated rooms. Nice breakfast buffet. Staff is friendly and professional. Conveniently located next to the train station. Will stay there again in the future!

Yelp
Currently writing this review from my room here. To be honest we randomly booked this room from hotels.com and were pleasantly surprised at how great it is. Very large and modern room (hard to find in Europe especially city centers) and literally across the street from the train station which is only two stops from the Colosseum and about a 15 min ride to the Vatican. The staff was very professional, English speaking which is helpful and even mapped out for us how to get around using the train. They even rang our room about 10 min after getting settled in to make sure everything was to our liking. Now excuse me while I go enjoy some drinks on their rooftop

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, very modern and clean. The location is AMAZING!! Steps away from the trains, bus and cabs. They offer a breakfast package with your stay. Most of the staff is very nice as well.
