Turin, Italy Travel Guide

"Set around a peaceful courtyard in the city center, this four-star hotel occupies a building with 17th-century roots refreshed with modern décor; the on-site restaurant serves local specialties like vitello tonnato and pasta, while the ground-floor bar is convenient for a nightcap." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina (Turin, Piedmont) 22 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Plenty of Italian hotels are located in historic convents, wineries, and farmhouses: here in Turin, the NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina is located in a historic landmark, too — originally a Regio Albergo di Virtu, or Hotel of Virtue, an institution where impoverished youth were trained to work. The place has been entirely refurbished, of course, with amenities to match. All guest rooms and suites come with a range of luxuries that the Italian teenagers of yesteryear couldn’t have possibly imagined: private balconies, pillow menus, coffee machines, free wi-fi, sleek modern bathrooms with custom-made bath products." - Tablet Hotels

Was really looking forward to staying at this NH hotel given the reviews and its location. However, despite the hotel being quite beautiful and near so many great parts of Turin, I’d strongly recommend against staying in the summer. Upon arrival we got checked into a room on the 4th floor and were welcomed with a heat box when we opened the door. Naturally, you don’t expect a cool room upon arrival as it would be wasteful, but given the current temperature in Turin is 36 degrees (feeling like 40 according the Apple Weather app), we were looking forward to getting the room to a comfortable temperature. After 30 mins, nothing had changed so we requested the hotel help us turn down the temperature, which they did. Except, it made no difference. ||We asked the front desk if they could help us try to find a room which could help us cool down which they kindly did. However, any room in the hotel has the same air con system which is controlled by the hotel itself, which means that if you do want it colder, it’s restricted. We asked to see the manager, and unfortunately, this was the tipping point. Although I appreciate the hotel won’t allow the air con system to be turned down, the attitude of “it’s fine for the other guests, therefore, you should also find it ok” was less than ideal. I love to be told what I should find comfortable, as it really helps me understand myself better, as clearly we are an abnormality. Additionally, the agreement that we would be better suited at another hotel made the €250 a night point feel even more stinging. ||We stayed the night, but ended up cancelling our remaining two nights given how uncomfortable the room was to sleep in. The one solace we found was that the managers advice was correct, as The Hilton Central did allow us to book in and control the temperature for a far more comfortable visit to Turin. Additionally, the Hilton made me realise again that in 35 degree heat, it’s probably best to allow the guest to control the temperature of the room. ||I look forward to the generic reply which will outline the policy of the hotel and the fact that sweating into the sheets is the done thing.

I stayed at NH Piazza Carlina hotel between 12-17 th July 2025 and from where should I start my review ?? When I’m confused on how to start my review it’s generally a good sign. And it surely is as this hotel has taken me by surprise. The exceptional service from check in to checkout was second to none. |This hotel is centrally located in Turin which makes it close to all amenities and places of interest. Staff at the hotel were always friendly and courteous. I was on a B& B basis and the buffet breakfast was always very good with a high selection of hot and cold varieties. I had a superior double room which was quite spacious and housekeeping was always on the dot. I also enjoyed my goodnight sleep as the room was also soundproof. I never heard anything from my room which makes it a huge plus especially for a person like me who is a light sleeper. WiFi was also excellent all throughout the hotel. |I would like to thank once again all the staff for their exceptional service and let me thank in particular Paolo at the reception who even offered me free water and gummies courtesy of the hotel on checkout. It’s these little details that count at the end of the day which make your stay all the more special. So I highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting the beautiful city of Turin and I hope I’ll be back some time soon.

The staff were courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing. The restaurant for dinner was delicious. We had an early departure time and the staff prepared breakfast boxes for us to take away at 4am, what amazing service. The views are great and the location on the plaza meant easy access to restaurants and shopping. The only downside was they had not turned on the air conditioning in early June despite the day time high temperatures being in the low 30s Celsius. The room was very warm as a result. Otherwise, a definitely positive stay with the most accommodating and helpful staff.

Central located, this is a modern, stylish hotel with spacious rooms and excellent service from very friendly staff. The beds are super comfortable and the AC works well. The shower cubicles are rather small by UK standards, by that may be an Italian thing.

The hotel is in a perfect central location. Every member of staff was polite, welcoming, and always smiling. They even prepared a bed and a bowl for our dog, which we really appreciated. The room was spotless, very comfortable, and we slept wonderfully. And most importantly, the breakfast was absolutely amazing!

Great location. Friendly staff. Quiet room. Comfortable bed. Food in the bar a real let down:|Day 1 - On arriving ham bread roll was not fresh. |Day 2 - Ordered lasagna,it arrived burnt black. Sent it back next another lasagna arrived cold in the centre on a cold plate. Looks like badly reheated food, not freshly cooked.

Yelp
This is my choice hotel for my frequent business trips to Torino. Quaint, quiet and clean. Easy walking distance to restaurants and pubs. I recommend a courtyard facing room for extra peace and quiet. The hotel has a small, comfortable bar and the breakfast is speedy and reliable.
