Was really looking forward to staying at this NH hotel given the reviews and its location. However, despite the hotel being quite beautiful and near so many great parts of Turin, I’d strongly recommend against staying in the summer. Upon arrival we got checked into a room on the 4th floor and were welcomed with a heat box when we opened the door. Naturally, you don’t expect a cool room upon arrival as it would be wasteful, but given the current temperature in Turin is 36 degrees (feeling like 40 according the Apple Weather app), we were looking forward to getting the room to a comfortable temperature. After 30 mins, nothing had changed so we requested the hotel help us turn down the temperature, which they did. Except, it made no difference. ||We asked the front desk if they could help us try to find a room which could help us cool down which they kindly did. However, any room in the hotel has the same air con system which is controlled by the hotel itself, which means that if you do want it colder, it’s restricted. We asked to see the manager, and unfortunately, this was the tipping point. Although I appreciate the hotel won’t allow the air con system to be turned down, the attitude of “it’s fine for the other guests, therefore, you should also find it ok” was less than ideal. I love to be told what I should find comfortable, as it really helps me understand myself better, as clearly we are an abnormality. Additionally, the agreement that we would be better suited at another hotel made the €250 a night point feel even more stinging. ||We stayed the night, but ended up cancelling our remaining two nights given how uncomfortable the room was to sleep in. The one solace we found was that the managers advice was correct, as The Hilton Central did allow us to book in and control the temperature for a far more comfortable visit to Turin. Additionally, the Hilton made me realise again that in 35 degree heat, it’s probably best to allow the guest to control the temperature of the room. ||I look forward to the generic reply which will outline the policy of the hotel and the fact that sweating into the sheets is the done thing.
