Hotel NH Groningen Hotel de Ville

Very nice hotel in an excellent location. The rooms are well equipped and very clean, but could be a little bit larger. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I didn't miss anything at breakfast. Valet parking is available. Definitely try the restaurant, probably one of the best in Groningen.

The hotel is located in center of the city which makes it very good for tourists and travelers who want to visit multiple attractions while staying in Groningen. The Breakfast was also pretty decent. BUT The building of hotel is old and they made a hotel out of it with minimum amount of renovation done inside the building. Hence, the rooms are not quiet. The room locks are old fashion with keys. The worst thing about the hotel was the ventilation. As the rooms have no AC and there is a tiny fan placed in the room to fill the role of ventilation!! If you take a shower in the evening, the dampness of the room at night will persist and can give you a headache. unless you open the windows of the room and welcome the mosquitoes. The bathroom is very bad. The mirror in the bath is located for very high as if for giants and so is the shower head which by the way, to your surprise, is fixed and not movable! The bed mattress are too hard and the lamp on the table stand next to the bed is just a lamp bulb attached to a wire! I don't know how this cheap looking place is labeled as four stars!

Beautiful old hotel. Wonderfully decorated with old yet tasteful furniture. Rooms very comfortable, if slightly old fashioned. Wonderful breakfast meals. On a very quiet street (obviously, it's Groningen!), with very helpful staff. Couldn't fault the place.

I have stayed here for a couple of nights every week over the past couple of months, and I really like the hotel. Location is really good, nice walk from the train station through the city and a lot of local places to go for drinks or dinner. Rooms are comfortable. I stayed in the smallest and also more medium rooms. Breakfast is really good with a great warm/cold varieties of food. They offer free bike rental (if available). All the staff are also really great, never had a bad hospitality experience. They gave several good suggestions for restaurants, places to go for a run and things to see. Special mention to Teun, who is always very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, well located, old rooms! Good breakfast and fine a-la-carte restaurant. " You should consider re-newing the rooms with carpet, new electronics and new beds and decorations. I'd definitely come back to You! Do something for fresh air in the rooms by arrival. "

From the nice front desk folk to nicely appointed rooms, comfy lounge and outdoor courtyard the hotel was great. Our needs were met promptly and the location is great. We didn't try the restaurants but the dinning room looked elegant and the breakfast hall opened to the courtyard. Good price too.

Good: great location, friendly staff, well designed lobby/ground floor level, good breakfast. Bad: black stains (fungus?) in shower, separate water taps in shower (takes time to find normal heated water), free Wi-Fi is super slow (if you want normal streaming speed you have to pay extra) and doesn’t cover the whole room well. Keep in mind that this is a 4-star hotel.

Good geographical location. Breakfasts have variety of choices, including gluten free options. The rooms are nothing special. No AC. Rm 009 had no safe, even though we were told every room was supposed to have one. Wi-Fi is hit and miss in our room. Our room was located beside the courtyard and kitchen, so the noise level was high.
