Heads-up for anyone considering this NH hotel: misleading room descriptions, lots of street noise, and disappointing front-desk service.
We booked a 4-night stay in late December. I’ve stayed at NH hotels before and always had great experiences, so I expected the same level of quality here. The location is honestly perfect, 5/5.
We booked two "Superior Rooms with a View" for our family. Based on the website photos and description, these rooms are advertised as spacious (around 30 m²). In reality, the experience was very inconsistent. One of the rooms was somewhat close to what was advertised, but the other one (the one I stayed in) was nowhere near that size, probably 20m2.
Given that we were paying close to €300 per night per room, I spoke with the reception to see if anything could be done. When you’re staying several nights on holiday, space really matters. Unfortunately, the response was disappointing. We were told that room sizes vary, nothing can be guaranteed, and they even admitted that the photos might not accurately represent the rooms. In practice, it feels like there’s no real difference between “standard” and “superior” rooms, so paying extra doesn’t seem worth it.
The biggest issue, however, is the noise. This is easily the worst sound insulation I’ve experienced in any hotel. The windows are single-pane, and everything from the street comes straight into the room. From our second-floor room, I could clearly hear conversations of people walking outside, on top of noise from nearby cafés and bars. This issue has been mentioned in other reviews too, and sadly it’s very real. Sleeping without earplugs is impossible. Not fun when travelling with kids.
There were also some signs of poor upkeep. The bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned when we arrived, and the door required serious force to open and close, clearly things that haven’t been maintained for a while.
When raising issues at reception, I was offered another room on the same floor, just a few doors away, which turned out to be even smaller. It didn’t feel like a genuine attempt to help, and the overall attitude at the front desk was quite disappointing. On a positive note, the breakfast staff are much friendlier and more welcoming.
If you do decide to stay here, I strongly recommend requesting a high-floor room in advance to reduce street noise. But if a good night’s sleep is important to you, you may want to look elsewhere.
Overall, the value for money just isn’t there, which is especially disappointing for a well-known chain like NH.
