Hotel NH Ourense

A perfect spot to explore Ourense , the hotel was comfortable with a great breakfast, the room was comfortable and large with a vi of the street but it was quiet, the staff are very friendly, the location is great for local restaurants.

Couldn’t have had a better service. Quality price this hotel doesn’t disappoint, and ever since we walked in, staff were amazing, helpful and polite. They give good recommendations on what to do and where to eat, always with a smile. The hotel itself is cute, well-decorated and looks like it has been recently renovated. Rooms are big, and they have everything, plus free coffee/tea and water. The only negative point was the bed, which looked comfortable at the beginning but it’s way too firm. Pillows were great, though. Overall, great experience and they have €15/day parking available if you need it, less than a minute walk to the hotel. Lots of things to do around walking distance as it is a small city, so the location is great! Last but not least, we were the “wow” clients of the day, so they gave us a voucher to grab something to drink for free at the amazing terrace, which was a plus!

Relatively small hotel, but excellent location and swift staff. Rooms somewhat difficult light wise. Rooftop could be a money maker given its best view of the city. But. Open 2000 till 2330. Limited choice of some beers and some other drinks. Food option just some tostadas. So dear management, get your act together and turn this place into your eye catcher!

After I do a week of walking on the Camino de Santiago I like to spend a couple of days at or near hot springs. I had been to Ourense before, as a day trip (short train ride) from Santiago de Compostela, but this time I stayed for a couple of days. It was my first stay at an NH hotel, and I was very happy with my choice. Had a very pleasant room with a small balcony, overlooking the traditional street so I could enjoy being part of the city's life. The design of the room was quirky, but I enjoyed being in something different, but very comfortable. The hotel/chain has obviously kept up with the changing times by providing a working space with desk, apparently in what was the second closet, and I did use it. ||||The hotel makes up for not having its own restaurant by both being near many others and having an efficient room service operation. Between my time on the Camino and then walking out to the hot springs at Outariz and back, by dinner times I didn't feel like leaving the hotel, so I took advantage of having my meal in my room. Small but good food selection, and excellent service. The buffet breakfast is also a plus, and more helpful service, including suggesting and making me an omelet to order.||||And that is what made my stay so VERY good--the people who work there. Helpful, pleasant, cheerful. I'll be back. ||||P.S. Not sure if there was no street noise at night or if I am such a sound sleeper that I didn't hear any!

A friend made a reservation for 2 rooms. When we checked in we explained how the rooms were to be billed separately. But when we checked out, the separation had not been done and the clerk had great difficulty making the correction. I was not impressed with the service in what is usually a great hotel chain.

NH is one of our go-to hotel chains and this particular hotel in Ourense did not disappoint. Eva C at the front desk was particularly helpful to us. I had a lot of questions about getting to the thermal baths and she addressed them all. We were very pleased with the room, which was a good size, and a perfect base for two days. The shower was hot with strong water flow. If management is reading this, I have only two negative comments and one minor quibble: First, the rug outside the elevator on the floor our room was on was extremely stained and dirty. It was a little off-putting, to be honest, and should be addressed. Second, the situation with the clear walls in the bathroom should be further rectified. Putting a window shade on one side does not fully solve the privacy problem, as the door is still fully clear. To this end: readers of this review should note that you should check out whether the room you will be staying in has a clear bathroom wall looking out onto where the bed is. If so, it would not be a comfortable room to stay in with another person unless one is on very intimate, not self-conscious terms with that person. The minor quibble is that it would be nice to have a small bar of soap on the bathroom sink. The liquid soap was in a metal holder that was not mounted close enough to the sink. In fact, the lotion was mounted closer to the sink than the soap! It made hand washing very awkward.

The roof itop bar has an excellent view of the surounding city and hills. Beautiful. Service excellent. Need to pick your seat with the sun in mind. We had fun.
