Arrived here for a week-long stay for a conference. All ok at the start apart from the size of the room - small - which was also showing its age (which is true for the whole hotel actually). First night was fine, air conditioning running fine and the room was nice and cool. Night 2 was also fine and I noticed the hotel was very quiet. Change on night 3 as the hotel filled up with a lot of customers. Now keep in mind it was 32 degrees during the day and very warm at night, I got back to my room and the AC was barely producing any cool air whatsoever, maybe a breath of cooling at best. I phoned reception and ended up getting moved to another room after being told that the AC was "old" and that I might have to play around with the controls to get it to cool down.... it beggars belief. Room 2 was the same, room 3 was the same, and eventually I just gave up moving rooms and slept in room 4 which was, you guessed it, exactly the same. In fact I ended up soaking a towel in cold water and sleeping under that to even have a chance of keeping cool. I'd have been better off sleeping in the corridor which was noticeably cooler! During the night I phoned my travel team and got moved to another hotel because NH Poznan couldn't provide the service we were paying for and I'd been moved to multiple rooms, clearly not solving the problem. They refuse to refund the remainder of the stay which is just disgusting given that they don't provide the product. Do yourself a favour, stay at the Novotel or Mercure - Accor group - and you'll have a much more comfortable stay in Poznan, be better located (particularly for Novotel beside the old brewery shopping centre, and very close to tram line), and a much(!) better breakfast included. Price is similar, if only I'd noticed!!! I wouldn't normally leave such a scathing review but am very frustrated because at >£80 per night I expect at least the AC to work! I also expect mirrors not to be broken, the hotel kept up to good standard. NH Poznan simply flatters to deceive.
The hotel has now replied to my review to say that I mentioned that I'd leave earlier due to personal reasons - this is a total lie, there was no discussion on the matter beyond moving rooms with the duty manager during the night and that was solely focussed on air conditioning, or lack thereof! I moved to the Novotel, a hotel that does have functional air conditioning. I checked out of the hotel by handing my room card to reception. Nobody asked me why I was leaving at that point and there was absolutely no discussion beyond me leaving my bag at reception until I would collect it at lunchtime to move to the other hotel. This is the most shocking response I never expected(!) and I'll be passing on this response to our travel partners and legal dept to see if we can recover the money they have refused to refund due to non provision of service advertised. This is just outrageous to blame it on me! I attended the rest of my conference in Poznan and left on the Saturday morning, checking out much earlier in the week. I wonder what personal reasons made me check out but still stay in the city and attend the conference. If anyone reading this has any sense they will give NH Poznan the wide berth it requires. I've had it removed as an option for travellers from my university so no more business from us for sure. Utterly shocking response and at no point did I express satisfaction with my stay in any way whatsoever.
UPDATE: After complaining to NH group direct we got the refund for days not used. Far too much effort, but the right outcome in the end. If only there was a zero star option!
