Yelp
My boyfriend & I stayed here a few weeks ago for our mini New Years vacation from 12/29 - 1/1/2017
We booked through booking.com and called a week prior to our stay to make sure/request one bed and a higher level floor for the scenery.
We spoke to a lady who was very professional. She noted our requests and as we asked about tourist attractions. She said her friend Jerry would be able to answer any questions and help us out once we arrived.
We paid a little over 6,000 pesos ($310 USD) for 3 Nights
We arrived to the hotel a little before 2pm (online it said check-in would be 3p and check-out is 1p, unless its Sundays they offer free late check-out until 3p) The front desk lady (sadly, didn't get her name) said our room was ready for us. Which was super awesome, we expected to wait till 3p if need be but being able to get it a little earlier was AWESOME!
We stayed on the 4th floor, room 404 - (there's only 5 floors- but the 5th fl is the PH which has meeting rooms available, patios, 1 small pool and a gym)
We had a great view of the church across the street.
Honestly, this hotel was NOT worth $100 USD per night.
The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, and the sheets/comforter had stains.
My main reason for reviewing is the service, lack of hospitality and unprofessionalism.
After receiving our keycards for our room, we asked for Jerry, since he was recommended to us. (FYI- before coming here, we did look up some attractions online, so we knew what the prices should be around) But, we wanted to see if maybe we'd get a better deal w/our hotel folks. Jerry gave us a ridiculous price for the Safari tour- $650 pesos per person. While, online its only $350 pesos per person on the site. You guessed it - we went elsewhere for our safari tickets. (Across the street from the Zocalo - next to Santander Bank, there is a tourist attraction station) We were able to get the same price as the safari site. Dodged a $600 peso bullet!
The same day we arrived, we came down after getting ready for the night. My boyfriend asked a different front desk lady, just to inquire about the Pool area, if its only open for certain hours and the lady didn't even have the decency to ask for his name or room number but said "sorry, I can't give that information out." Uhmmm..excuse me we're staying here. While being calm all my bf said was "actually I'm asking for information because I'm staying at this hotel in room 404, you can check if you'd like." Her face switched up and all of a sudden she had manners. "Oh sorry, yes its open 24 hours."
Next incident-I believe its important for all employees to know the same information. At least, the minimum for their job. Late Saturday night (maybe 11p or so) before heading up to our room, we stopped to ask the front desk lady (different girl again) Since it was Sunday, if we could check out at 3p as the website offered. Without hesitation or even asking what our room number was to see if there was a booking or not. All she said was "No, check out is at 1pm."
We went up to the room without arguing back. I said forget it, we'll ask again in the morning.
Another encounter of unprofessionalism/lack of hospitality
We came down a little before 10am, asked a new front desk lady (I believe her name is Laurica- or along those lines.) If it was possible to check out at 3p because on Booking.com it did offer a free late check out on Sundays. She also with no hesitation said, "that's completely fine". She asked our room number and pressed some keys on her computer and said we were set. We were happy, thinking we could enjoy a few more hours around Puebla. We went off on checking some sceneries out. Came back to our hotel literally 10 minutes after 1p and got to our room and our keycard didn't work. So, we went back downstairs- while we were walking up to the front desk to the lady (Laurica) she looked at us and walked away to talk to some other co-workers away from her computer. So, we went to a different girl (which was the original girl who gave us our room- I wish I got her name. Since, she was the only professional person who seemed to work there.) We told her the situation about the free late check out till 3p. In less than 30sec. she re-did our keycard for the room and wrote our room down on a piece of paper. It was quite annoying to see the lady that had told us earlier that morning it was fine, standing right behind the lady that chose to help us and do her job that Laurica couldn't do but yet ease drop on us having to tell the same situation we came to her about earlier.
We will NEVER stay at this hotel!
I understand people have off days, but a whole staff of people that can't do the simplest of things. Ridiculous price and service!
