nhow Amsterdam Rai (Amsterdam, North Holland) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"RAI is Amsterdam’s exhibition and convention center, and the neighboring Nhow Amsterdam RAI is a forward-looking statement by architect Rem Koolhaas’s OMA. It’s a stacked trio of triangular volumes, each one slightly rotated with respect to the others, and inside is the sort of riotously colorful boutique hotel with which the Nhow name has become synonymous. With 650 rooms, it’s the biggest hotel in the Benelux region, but aesthetically it’s as out-there as any little urban boutique. Three small gyms keep guests fit, while a pair of restaurants and bars, one on the ground floor and another on the rooftop, keep them fed and watered." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed here for two nights on a city break to Amsterdam. The hotel is in a good location if travelling from Amsterdam Centraal and is well served by a nearby metro station. For accessibility when travelling into Amsterdam, the location is therefore excellent. ||The hotel itself is a great choice of accommodation for a city break. Rooms are well organised with minimal and only necessary furniture and with good lighting throughout. Albeit only a short stay, housekeeping was to a good standard as reflected in the cleanliness of the rooms and communal areas of the hotel. ||The bathroom had good lighting and amenities. The shower pressure was excellent and towels were to a good standard that ensured they did not moult. ||The hotel gym was well resourced with a range of free weights and machines - it was certainly suffice for a reasonably comprehensive workout.||While the hotel location was great for getting from the station and travelling via the nearby metro, the vicinity itself is somewhat sparse if you are looking for local amenities or wanting to be within walking distance of restaurants and other conveniences. This didn't have a huge impact on us, but it is worth noting subject to your needs during your stay.||Overall, it's a good choice for accommodation in Amsterdam.

We stayed here for 2 nights amd it was an ideal location, minutes drive from the airport and walkable (~50) to dam square and amsterdam city centre. We enjoyed walking but subway station was a few stepts from the hotel. The botel itself was a nice boutiuqe hotel style local gem. Great art and theme to the hotel decor and the staff was professional welcoming. The breakfast manager showeed us around and let us see the restauarant during the day. Our room was nice, had accessories incase you forgot and are eco conscience. Great stay, friendly people and wonderful location.

Really beautiful rooms and great location close to the metro and train. Unfortunately we were there during a very busy weekend with a sailing event which meant there was a queue at the service counter. Every time we needed something; for check in, check out, leaving our luggage and then picking it up, the wait time was significant. They were also not particularly quick in doing whatever we needed done. The restaurant had a terrific menu of both food and drinks, plus amazing views.

The Perfect Hotel for Discovering Amsterdam The location is ideal—just a few minutes’ walk from train, metro, and tram stops, making both the airport and the city center easily accessible. The photos speak for themselves: the hotel looks stunning both inside and out. Its unique style is reflected in the rooms as well—I absolutely loved every little corner of it. Breakfast is served on an upper floor, which you can reach via a lightning-fast elevator. That way, you can enjoy a 10/10 breakfast with panoramic views. There’s no faulting the breakfast—quality and variety are both outstanding. Freshly squeezed orange juice, possibly the best hotel coffee I’ve ever had, and freshly baked waffles. They were also able to provide gluten-free bread and baked goods (brownies, pancakes, waffles). A perfect way to start the day before exploring the city. Whenever we approached the staff, they were always eager to help. Without hesitation, I’d choose this hotel again for any future trip to Amsterdam.

This was our 2nd stay at Nhow Rai and we loved it again. The hotel rooms are clean, very modern and the location is perfect for your Amsterdam visit. So close to the metro and only 2/3 stops away from city centre. ||Highly recommend to stay here! This time we stayed in the premium room and it was big and gave us enough space for multiple day stay. Previously we stayed in standard room which was also fine.

The hotel has a great view of Amsterdam, but the bed was wobbly and the pillows far too soft. We stayed on the 21st floor. For €160 a night, I would expect a much better bed. This made it hard to sleep comfortably and took away from the overall experience. I would give 4 or 5 stars if the bed was better.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had — truly a place that sets the standard. Everything here feels new, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The interior is absolutely beautiful — modern, elegant, and incredibly comfortable. The staff is outstanding: warm, professional, and always ready to go the extra mile. You can truly feel that guest satisfaction is their top priority. This is what client-oriented service should look like. Breakfasts deserve a special mention — rich, fresh, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, the comfort level is simply unmatched. Every hotel should take notes from this one. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back.

What a lovely hotel ! Five main points: 1. Clean rooms , super professional and supportive staff. 2. Great location, there are two big supermarkets nearby and 10 minutes walking distance for restaurants. 3.Nearby train station where you can go 10 minutes to Dam Square. 4. Zuid station 200 meters where you can travel abroad like Germany or Belgium. 5. Quiet neighborhood. I would strongly recommend this hotel. Keeps it up !

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying in this Art project turned hotel recently. The architecture is quite something, as are many buildings in Amsterdam. Our group of 50 booked it out, and the entire hotel is quite beautiful. Centrally located across from the Convention Center and near the Metro, we found it very convenient for our four day stay. The staff were friendly, and efficient checking our group in on the second floor; brilliant. The rooms are interesting: long hallway into a room with two single beds right next to one another. There were two of us (women) and it was a bit cozy. There are many amenities: including a lovely espresso machine to start the day before you head up to the 17th floor, gorgeous view for a spectacular breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly, but if you don't tell them while you are away from the table gathering more goodies they will clear your table in a blink. Happened to me twice, before I got wise. The buffet includes everything you could hope or imagine for breakfast which is my favorite meal of the day. A waffle bar, granola bar, glass shelves display of charcuterie, English breakfast complete with scrambled eggs, beans, tomatoes and sausages. Two capuchino stations, one completely plant based, and you can make as many as you like. If you prefer to take food with you, that is an option as well. The hotel has a restaurant, and a lovely bar. Food at the restaurant has a limited menu but there are many eateries near by to choose from for dinner. My only comment to improve my stay I would have liked to have had a luggage rack as my large suitcase had to go on the floor. This is a boutique hotel I don't think most of their guests bring a great deal of luggage. The bathroom was beautiful with a raindrop shower in a wonderful glass enclosed area. You need to utilize the door to the hallway if you want to keep the water in the shower. Lots of warm comfy towels are available if you ask for them. There is also a towel warmer on the wall. Nice touch. I am not completely sure how this hotel compares price wise with others but its uniqueness in decor makes it stand out. For artist enthusiasts be sure to check out the second floor; lots of places to sit and enjoy your stay while enjoying the decor.

Yelp
Interesting not to say stunning architecture by Reinier de Graaf. The hotel was overall a good place to stay despite it not being near the center. But the metro made it actually very easy. The check-in was terrible as I had a confirmed upgrade and a confirmed early check-in but guess what: an early check-in for the upgrade did not exist. The ultimate room was very nice, spacious, well designed, comfortable bed. The including morning breakfast had a lot of items but nothing was particularly outstanding. Alltogether, it was a good place to stay and a place associated with wonderful memories.

Yelp
The nhow is a great business hotel, convenient to the RAI convention center, Zuid business area, and Metro stations. Part of the nh chain, the decor here is an eclectic Asian and Latino mix. Nice modern rooms. But here are my complaints: 1) beside the wonderful breakfast buffet that ends at 10:30 AM there are NO FOOD options until 6 PM when the dinner place opens. Walking distance to food offsite is several blocks away. 2) WiFi is so weak it is barely useable. 3) the only content on TV is news, and only three are in English but no CNN 4) there are no streaming services on TV 5) the toilet is blocked by the bathroom counter. I can't surf the net on the toilet. But WiFi sucks anyway, so why bother? It's a great place for a business trip, if you don't plan to spend much time in your room. But for tourists, you might want to search other nh hotel options in the city.

Yelp
I miss traveling, and I miss Amsterdam. I haven't been traveling lately because of the Pandemic, so I am practicing social distancing. One of the hotels I have stayed at was the Hotel Nhow Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I love this hotel. Very modern and artsy. The hotel is okay since there's a lot of restaurants and grocery stores. I prefer to stay downtown, but the hotel is close to the train station. The staff is professional and friendly, and the rooms are clean.

Yelp
This hotel is perfect for attending functions at RAI. If you plan to spend more time at Central Amsterdam, it is a bit of a walk... the rooms are smaller, but functional. The breakfast buffet is good and has a lot of variety. The elevator bank is confusing, but after a couple days you get used to it.

Yelp
I was a guest at nhow Amsterdam for 4 days and I had an excellent stay! The hotel has a great uplifting, modern vibe. The lounge is decorated with bright colors of furniture and gorgeous wall murals. The front desk staff, (especially Roji) is so sweet and helpful. It was Roji that checked me in and out and she went above and beyond when it came to helping me with getting my Covid test. My room was comfortable and clean. I turned down housekeeping an because of that, nhow rewards their guest with a coupon for 2 free drinks at the bar. I received 3 coupons so that's 6 free drinks! The bartender was great and even gave me free pinapple and orange slices. The hotel is conveniently located a 5 minute walk to the metro and the train station which gets you to the airport. I loved my room view on the 21st floor. Another perk of staying here is the free candy and the front entrance! Every time I got off the metro and saw the hotel just a few feet away always made me feel reassured and welcomed. I knew I was walking back into a place of comfort and as a solo traveler I felt safe. I would definitely return and highly recommend!

Yelp
I was staying at the nhow for a conference, and it was in a great location - walking distance to the conference center and near public transit. There is a train that takes you to and from the airport directly outside of the hotel which was super convenient. The hotel itself has nice elevators and a good amount so you're never waiting around. There is a small help yourself convenient store that also sells alcohol for those times the bar is closed. If you refuse room cleaning any day, you get a free drink voucher. The most amazing aspect of this hotel is by far the breakfast. There are tons of options that are super quality. Bread and cheeses and olives / meats / etc., croissants, waffle station, yogurt station, donuts, other cakes and pies, fruit, English breakfast (beans, sausage, eggs, and mushrooms. There is a great variety of fresh juice, and champagne or vodka for any particular morning beverages. There is also fruit infused water and a coffee machine. I would stay here again just to have the breakfast.

Yelp
I go to Amsterdam regularly and stayed in this hotel January 2020 within the first week of it opening for a work trip with a long group. It is one of the top ones I stayed at. Overall the group said we'd go back. What I liked: 1. Rooms were nice, nice location, and good views. 2. Breakfast was good with fresh squeezed orange juice, made to order omelets, and nice view on the 17th floor. 3. Good value - nice clean, fresh hotel. Friendly staff. 4. Places to eat, and a bowling alley in walking distance. What I didn't like: 1.They had multiple "pocked gyms" on three different floors, but I would have liked a larger gym so we could work out together. 2. I thought the towels were not soft and a bit rough. 3. The elevators were fast, but didn't always take my key scan to get to my floor. I am guessing it is an opening issue. 4. My colleagues were surprised the bar closed at 11am

Yelp
Inside the stacked triangular wedges of noted architecture firm OMA's assertive three-part form, every detail of the rooms is thoughtful, from the subtle, damask-patterned wall coverings to the round carpet under the bed. The smallest rooms are just the right size, with a desk large enough for a laptop and guidebooks and a lounge chair for taking in the views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. There is no extraneous art on the walls, and no art is needed, since every surface is interesting, whether mirrored, textured, or wood. With its flattering lighting, the bathroom features a first-rate rain shower head and unusual but intuitive controls, and the heated mirror doesn't fog up. The only drawbacks are, if you're on the 18th or 19th floor, minor sound transmission of voices from the restaurant terrace below. But nighttime sleep was totally quiet. Elevators are plentiful and fast. The approach from the north is anything but quaint, and elevated roadway obscures the first experience of the dynamic form; it would be improved by removal of the hundreds of cigarette butts in the joints between the brick walkway and by re-thinking the mediocre landscaping. But the convenience to the M52 subway at Europaplein and the Sprinter to and from Schiphol at the RAI station--only two stops away!--makes the location exceptionally convenient, and at 1/3 the cost of comparable options a bit closer in, nhow is a fine choice for a visit to Amsterdam.

Yelp
As a US-based corporate event planner, this is my go-to hotel for all groups attending conferences at RAI Amsterdam. Attendees rave about the cleanliness, creative decor + proximity to the convention center. Highly recommended -- I must give Cindy a shoutout -- she is a joy to work with + saved the day for one of my clients. I look forward to my future stays here.
