Nhow Berlin (Berlin, Germany) 15 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There’s a case to be made that present-day Berlin’s main occupation is artistic and cultural production — which, in a way, means that the Nhow Berlin, in this town at least, is the ultimate business hotel. Where some more traditional hotels boast about their conference space, Nhow points out that it’s the only European hotel with two recording studios on premises. We’ll go one better and simply add that the list of hotels with one recording studio is not a long one." - Tablet Hotels

Absolutely Fantastic Stay – Highly Recommended! Our experience at this hotel was truly satisfying and exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely great and extremely welcoming. A special shout-out to Nico — the service was outstanding and highly professional. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was beautiful and modern. The entire hotel was notably clean and well-maintained. We loved the hotel's music themed concept; it is very creative and excellently executed. The location is also fantastic, offering easy access to the S-Bahn and featuring convenient parking options as well as a beautiful view on the river. A major highlight was the incredibly customer-oriented breakfast schedule on the weekend and the breakfast as it offered a wide range of different options —it made our morning so much easier! We regret not having enough time to use the fitness and wellness areas, but they looked very neat and well-maintained. Thank you for the wonderful experience! We will definitely be returning!

We've chosen this hotel mostly based on the pictures an the virtual tour available on the website. And, well, the very affordable price. When we arrived, we instantly thought: it's even better in real life! The pictures don't lie! The creative concept and theme of the hotel is completed to the smallest details. The whole staff turned out to be very friendly and helpful... It felt like coming home instantly...

Hi-tech Barbie-style hotel located near East Side Gallery. The most colorful hotel I’ve ever seen! The design of rooms is fresh and modern. Musical elevators are another interesting feature. But if you like privacy glass bathroom doors may not be for you. Breakfast is fine and burgers in the bar are pretty good.

Very colourful hotel on the river. Interesting 60s psychedelia decor.. Room was spotless. Very relaxed atmosphere. Staff everywhere were lovely. Although on the river, I found the area a little run down. Some people would call it edgy.

nhow Berlin was amazing to stay at! The rooms are perfectly quiet, no noise from outside at all. The room decorations are stunning like you’d expect from the photos. Good location for local activities and culture. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a great time chatting with Kimberly and Nico whenever we passed the lobby. They recommended local spots after helping us to extend our stay. I also enjoy that breakfast goes until later than most hotels on weekends, letting you sleep in.

Great room with a fabulous view bed and view. We were given a room on a higher floor as we requested. Loved the shop in reception. Customer service could be improved though. We asked for an iron on our first morning and told if they had one we had to come down to get it. We went to the bar on our second night and asked if we could have pizza in the bar or if we had to have it in the room. We were told we could have it in the bar so ordered with drinks. When the pizza arrived we were told we couldn’t have it in the bar again and it’s only for the room. A 4 star hotel needs to have some flexibility and why can you eat burgers and loaded fries in the bar but not pizza!!?? ||It’s a great building in a great location, just think they need to be a little more flexible to claim 4 star.

Staying at this hotel was a truly unique experience—both incredibly amazing and, at the same time, surprisingly unpleasant. I've never felt such a strong contrast in one stay before. I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but I believe this is something that can be easily improved, and the hotel really deserves that chance. Positives – The Hotel Itself: This place is one of a kind. Visually stunning, with a beautiful ambiance and atmosphere, perfect location, and thoughtful design details. Everything feels like it was created with care, love, and attention. You can sense the intention behind every element—from the decor to the layout—and it all contributes to a genuinely special experience. It’s clear the owner wanted guests to feel welcome and have a memorable stay. The place is beyond beautiful and absolutely charming. Negatives – Reception Staff: I honestly feel bad saying this, but I’ve never had such an unpleasant or unwelcoming experience with hotel staff. The reception team seemed disinterested and disengaged to the point where it felt like we were bothering them, even though we interacted with them only a few times. It made me uncomfortable enough that I asked my husband to handle the checkout—I’ve never felt that way at a hotel before. Despite that, I still believe this hotel deserves a 5-star rating, because everything else was just exceptional. I would absolutely recommend this place to others, with the hope that the staff will work on improving their service to match the quality of the hotel itself.

Awesome funky hotel. Lots of attention to detail everywhere from towels to mirrors, etc. Staff really friendly and helpful, quick check-in and check-out ... Kilian was super helpful and friendly on the desk. Thank you for a great weekend! 🙂

Yelp
This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. Our last night in Berlin, my girlfriend, our 11-year-old son, and I stayed at the Nhow in Friedrichshain. From around 23:00, we were disturbed by loud noises from upstairs, which escalated into screaming and shouting at about 01:00. We tried to ignore it, hoping it would be over quickly, but the noise kept returning, and we kept trying to fall asleep again. We also had a little boy with us, so we did our best to do nothing and just hope everything was okay. Most guests wouldn't go immediately to the desk in such a situation. When it all escalated again at 4:45 am, we hoped it would end soon, but it only got worse. After four hours of being awake, I called the front desk. The girl on the phone just said they would check it and then hung up. The screaming stopped temporarily, like it did all night, but 45 minutes later, it resumed and was followed shortly after by fighting. My girlfriend then went downstairs to report the situation again and ask for a refund, as we had been unable to sleep all night. They told her they couldn't do anything and that they weren't allowed to evict anyone. Nobody came upstairs, and it was already 6 am. After another period of ongoing chaos, I called again, now really upset, because nothing had been addressed. The staff only appologized but said they couldn't kick the guests out. At that moment, my son was crying and scared from all the yelling, shouting, and fighting. Our entire night and stay were ruined. In the morning my girlfriend went down again very tired from not sleeping and angry because nothing was done about it. The people at the frontdesk just said they also wanted to check out the story of the guest above us as if we lied about the whole night and called, go down, called again , go down and staying up all night for fun or so. Then my girlfriend got mad of course. And Said we would leave bad review on the internet and left. Later on, I also sent them an email with our account of what happened. The reply I received was unbelievable--full of contradictions and completely opposite to what they told us that night. In their email, they claimed they were with the guests and told them to vacate the room when they continued, despite having told us twice that evicting them was not possible. They also stated that someone went upstairs, but when that person was there, everything was quiet; now they tell us they were really at the door. In the morning, they said they first had to talk to the guests to see what they did. So, the email was filled with conflicting statements. At the end, they even accused my girlfriend of trying to blackmail them by threatening to leave a bad review. To say this after a sleepless, stressful night with our scared son is incredibly unfair and shows how little they care about their guests. We have never had such a terrible hotel experience. Our son was frightened by the yelling, fighting and loud noises. The only explanation was this " The hotel itself provided every service you booked and we acted on the troublemakers who are merely guests of our hotel." Providing every hotel service? That's a complete joke. We didn't get any sleep, our son didn't feel safe, and nothing was handled properly.

Yelp
Black Americans checking in. I loveddddd this hotel. Cleanliness was there, the aesthetic is really cool, people are friendly and it's super close to everything. Bring a wash cloth or exfoliating gloves because they don't have any.

Yelp
I stayed a the week in this nice hotel on the border of the river Spree. It's located at 10 to 15 minute walk to the S+U Warschauerstrasse train station. The interior is modern and hipster and my room was very spacious. On the ground floor you can have breakfast, which cost for 24.50 € if you haven't booked half-boarding. For breakfast you have e variety of options to choose from , ranging from continental to Mediterranean breakfast (Cappuccino and sweets). On the terrace facing the river, you can have drinks in the evening, which is very nice. On some occasions there's even a DJ. The hotel has a very helpful and friendly staff and it was a pleasure to stay at the hotel. Will surely consider it for the next time.

Yelp
Check in. Open Instagram. And your stay can begin! The NHow is by far the most instagrammable Hotel in Berlin! Full of powerful colors, feminine shapes, and instruments - the staff really pays attention to small details! The rooms are spacious and super clean. The room I stayed in was dominated by pink colors everywhere which I loved. However, you either like it or hate it. Free guitar, keyboard, DJ set room service included. The breakfast is a quite expensive with ca. 30€. However, as soon as you'll get to the restaurant and see all the options you have, you won't regret spending so much money on breakfast. From homemade smoothies, fresh fruit, salad, cereals, to sparkling wine - there's nothing you won't find here (except for pancakes ).

Yelp
Most of the reviews below pretty much cover it but a couple of important points to note: Pros: - Great location: on the water, near the East Side Gallery, hipster-y part of the city - Friendly staff - Funky 90's 'Saved by the Bell' vibes - Lots of events happening here - Good vibe Cons: - Funky 90's 'Saved by the Bell' vibes don't make it feel like a very modern hotel - Towels are paper thin and ragged - Toilet paper could be confused for writing paper, its so harsh - Rooms are dark even with all the lights on - Food options are limited, and ... not. great. - Service is unbelievably slow. Asked for little things like an iron, took 3 different calls and still never got it. Two days in a row so at different times of day. Called for help with bags, and had to call twice - Concierge is NEVER at front desk - Water (shower / toilet / sink) didn't work (broken pipe) for TWO days. Hotel didn't call to check/warn/or apologize. I had to shower at my office. As its supposed to be a 4-star hotel, the cons really outweighed the pros to a level of surprise. The lack of water for 2 days and lack of effort on behalf of the hotel to apologize / explain or make up for it, really was the end. I was meant to stay for 15 days for work, and shortened the trip to 4 days and was honestly relieved to head to a hotel down the road with basic amenities. Have recommended visiting colleagues to AVOID the NHow, which is a shame since it's right next to our office, and we travel to Berlin quite often. But nhow is really a question, as to 'nhow bad did you think it would be?'

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with the nhow. Particularly after reading many less-than-favorable reviews of the property, and walking in expecting the absolute worst. The rooms are outstandingly well designed. Sure, the wallpaper is enough to throw some into epileptic seizure. And sure, there are the standard overpriced hotel amenities... but it's in one of the best locations of Berlin... the outdoor terrace on the spree is killer... and the overall vibe is decidedly, but not forcibly 'cool'. A great gym. Great common areas. Great breakfast. Unquestionably my favorite thing about the whole property was the Guitar Room Service. When I heard about this, it sounded gimmicky and stupid. Turned into my favorite part about the stay. When I called down for two guitars, they were delivered to my room freshly tuned with two amplifiers. The nhow picks were a nice touch. No charge, keep them as long as you want as long as you're there. So much more fun than any service I've had at a hotel. In a city that's completely full of great hotels, this one's well worth checking out.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this hotel. Was told breakfast was included, but then it wasn't. No roll-away beds available. Getting extra blanket took 4 hours and 3 requests. Music studios not available- all on long term lease. No guitars available. Very weak air conditioning. Front desk understaffed- always a long wait.

Yelp
Funky interior design that is fun and unique. Stayed in a single room. Sparse, but nicely pink and lavender colors that is not obnoxious. Try to stay on the river side for a view.

Yelp
I've been here a few times, for Berlin Music Week and to interview bands. The nhow is pretty new, kind of fancy, and has some cool features for the music-minded, like room service guitars and such. However, would I stay here? No, probably never. The designs of the rooms are far too "groovy" for my tastes. It feels like 1970s meets the Jetsons. That can be fun, but when I stay at a hotel, I don't want "concept." I want comfortable and cozy. And pink and purple and blue colour concepts mixed with psychedelic patterns just don't do it for me.

Yelp
Funky hotel with crazy fun decor. Plus side: - Not boring or bland. Colorful, modern, artsy. - Great breakfast. Loads of options and plenty of them. - Friendly staff at the front. - Music and DJ in the evening. - The restaurant was modestly priced. Minus side: - Pillows and linens were not high quality. - Cleaning staff opened the windows and let in a bunch of insects. - The front desk didn't have my reservation properly in the system (pre-paid business reservation with breakfast), and were unrelenting until I pressed and showed them the information I had on my end. - Every morning I had to emphatically remind the restaurant that my breakfast was pre-paid.

Yelp
Crazy decor... This is the funkiest hotel I've ever seen: there are neon lights everywhere, the lobby bar has a stage and there's live rock music on weekends, and rooms are all PINK! When I say "all PINK", I literally mean EVERYTHING IS PINK. The bed sheets, the pillows, the bathroom tiles, the bathroom sink, the bathroom freebies and amenities, the towels, the slippers... even the telephone is pink!! This will be shocking for most people, can be a little disturbing for some others. Overall, the hotel is very good. Clean rooms, free wifi, cool bar, nice terrace with views of the river, friendly staff, good restaurant. As a rule of thumb, if you're cool with the funky decor, then this is a hotel you'll enjoy; if you're conservative and/or prefer classic hotels, do not go to this hotel.

Yelp
All in all this Hotel is very nice! This spanish hotel group does have a very interesting idea of design and shapes, beside functionality... but yeah! You can borrow guitars or stumble on one of the light sculptures in the lobby. The hipster staff is very friendly and helpful! Also: the breakfast here is just amazing!

Yelp
I really had a great time at NHOW due to several reasons (that are not all objectives!): - the weather was awesome so I really took benefit of the nice terrace facing the Spree. - It's a peaceful haven perfectly located in a great neighborhood - although a bit kitsch, settings/design are really cool and original, there is a real identity compared to other boring NH hotels. I really felt a good energy/vibes - I got upgraded to a nicer/bigger room which was also very nice and comfortable (I love the bed sheets at NH) - I was there during the Berlin Marathon and from 5am there was a free buffet with everything runners need (energy bars, yoghurt, water, fruits, ...), very thoughtful - Staff was friendly. For the anecdote, I asked to eat my own food in their restaurant to sit with my friends and there was no problem at all. - The spa settings are nice! - I paid with points so it felt like a free night. Still, prices are decent for what you get! I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
This is definitely one of those times where I wish Yelp had .5 stars because nhow Berlin deserves more than 3 but is a few perks away from being 4 stars. I am DEFINITELY glad that I stayed here, but I am not sure if I would return. Although, honestly the main reason is the location. It is beautiful to be on the water and near the East Side Gallery, but I wish I had stayed more centrally. I was deciding between here and Circus Hotel and opted to stay here since I thought I'd be hanging out more East anyway and I liked the idea of staying at a chain hotel because you know the perks will be better. nhow Berlin is one cool hotel. The design is awesome and every element of it was a delight to experiences - from the rooms, to the bar, to the outdoor patio. Many of the unique design details are pros, e.g. the sockets in the wall with outlets to be used as bedside tables, although some are not. Our bathroom would not have been okay for anyone other than a couple who is very comfortable being seen by and not having privacy in the bathroom, e.g. the shower is see-through and doorless. I don't know if it's different for a room with two beds though... The service is exceptional. The room service is fast and reasonably priced. The morning buffet is overpriced for sure (22 euros) but it is delicious and without many local eateries, we definitely went a few times. And it was easy to take some of it to go or to eat enough to not have to eat for a while. My other two complaints are that the beds could be softer (I am partial to soft mattresses though. If you're not, you will be fine.). I also wish there was free wifi in the rooms and free local calling. There IS free wifi in the lobby/lounge/dining areas, though. If you're already interested in staying here, definitely do it. If you're on the fence, just consider these things. The pink also didn't bother us. I know some people commented about that but honestly if you didn't realize it was going to be pink after visiting the website, I'm not sure how...

Yelp
This hotel has more personality than any other hotel I have ever seen. It is hard to explain, you just have to experience it. Though you might get an idea from visiting the website or from hearing that they will deliver a Gibson guitar to your room via room service. I stayed here for a conference last week and I really enjoyed my stay. The beds were very comfrotable, the room amenitites (slippers, toiltetries, etc) were nice. The view of the river Spree is great, especially from the higher floors. The best part of the hotel is that the staff and many of the services are at the level of a truly fine hotel (St Regis, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons). I am not saying the hotel is that nice - it isn't. It is more like a W level than a St Regis level. But the staff is that friendly, professional and helpful. The concierge was outstanding. Working with the concierge Jan was no different than working with a concierge at one of the best hotels in the world. Laundry/dry cleaning and room service were also top-notch in both friendliness, promptness and product. The conference I spoke at paid for my room and I am not sure what the rate was, but I understand it was reasonable. Wifi was free to all guests. It did pay for room service, drinks in the bar and laundry service, and they were all very reasonably priced. So I think this hotel is a great value.

Yelp
"The only music hotel in europe" looks very promising from outside, and does not dissapoint from the inside. Perfectly located on the magical triangle Mitte, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, it is best suited for young couples or groups of Friends. The terrace is directly at the spree river, and there are even huge building blocks from the old berlin wall times to have a nice conversation about. Do not get surprised if you meet a couple of artists, and wannabe artists running around with their gittares or trophy girlfriends. The only thing that prevented a 5 star rating here, is the food quality. The sushi rice was not even cooked and tasted like rubber, and the wine was kinda cheap.

Yelp
Avoid! It's new and it's clean and all that...but the design is irritating. Apparently the interior is a 'Karim Rasheed designed' orifice...just horrid. The exterior is nice enough as is the location.

Yelp
As a Metrosexual type hotel, this is a poor version of Duomo in Rimini or Room Mate Oscar in Madrid but hey this is angular Deutschland so ordered, functional Metrosexuality is the order of the day. Bright pink rooms, free guitars on room service, and fantasticly psychedelic bar overlooking the river, it has all the components. But still felt a bit cold and not very rock and roll. Plus it seems to be MILES from anywhere you want to get to.

Yelp
I found out about this hotel by watching Gadget Man and it looked like they have some beautiful river views of the Spree and had some fun perks like being able to borrow a guitar or keyboard. So when it came time to travel to Berlin, I was happy to see that it was also an affordable hotel, close to the train and in-between Kreuzberg and Fredrichshain! We got an upgrade to a suite the second night and so far it has been my favorite hotel I've stayed in, in Europe. The bathtub was nice, there were 2 bedrooms, the desk was useful, bed comfortable... Everything was really well-thought out and I appreciate that. They also had THE BEST sweet potato fries I've ever had. The staff wasn't outwardly friendly but that isn't culturally expected in Berlin. Some friends of mine likened this hotel to a "Hard Rock" hotel like we have in the US but it is actually far better from that!!

Yelp
We had a great time at this hotel. I had contact by email before we went there and they respond very fast. Staff is very friendly and the service is great. The room, standard double, looks great, beds are a bit on the hard side, bathroom is great, TV is rubbish, specially the sound. We were mostly there to sleep and shower so that was fine for us. If you try to sleep at day, it can be noisy. Slamming doors from neighbors and moving chairs. Not as sound proof as they promote, but at night it's very quiet. We would go back there for it's neighborhood, the overall looks and the super friendly staff.

Martijn B.

Yelp
Staff in hotel bar is highly incapable. They have no idea what's going on in and around their bar. It takes them at least 20 minutes to take your order and restocking the bar has the biggest priority. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Lorraine P.

Yelp
crazy decor-- pepto pink, crazy neon lighting everywhere. It was if a 13 yr. old on acid decorated it. No built in American outlets even and they ran out of converters. fairly rude bar tenders and service in general. hard bed (which I like). It was clean and quiet though and location wasn't far from the subway/train. If I went back to Berlin, wouldn't be in a rush to stay there at all. I would try something in a less sketch area of town.

Rachel B.

Yelp
NHow was a fun and beautiful hotel right on the river. Most of my work was happening nearby so it was the perfect spot to come back to every night...and while the downstairs might have been very lively, the rooms were quiet and comfortable and allowed me to have a great night's sleep. The service was fantastic. Sandy in the restaurant was super friendly and helpful and even got me a togo Americano when I needed a little more energy before work. I also needed to stay an extra night and was aware the hotel was very booked up. However, Khaled at the frond desk found a space for me which made me happy beyond words. It was done effortlessly and with a smile and I think what really makes a hotel is how their staff work, and the staff at NHow go above and beyond. I would definitely stay there again when back in Berlin.
