We spent 8 days at the Hotel Nochendi in September. Our grasp of Spanish isn’t great, and none of the staff has a lot of English, but as another reviewer has said, they are real human staff – we found them all to be so friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our conversations with them despite the language handicap.||||The hotel is small and has only 11 or 12 rooms, most of which overlook one of the small rivers which run through the town. There was a little noise on our first night from the sidreria just below our room, but otherwise our stay was restful. Our bedroom was simply furnished, with a very comfortable queen-size bed. The bathroom was a good size and well appointed. Both rooms were kept spotlessly clean||||Breakfast in the hotel was lovely, but we did try a number of other places too - there are so many places to choose from in Cangas de Onis, whether you are looking for a café or burreria at breakfast time, or a bar or restaurant in the evening. ||||The town is lovely, very vibrant, with a colourful market on Sunday mornings. It is well situated, only a short drive from the coast and some beautiful beaches, and also right beside the Picos De Europa national park. We hired a car and saw many different aspects of this beautiful area, and would love to return some day.

My fiance & I booked this hotel for 1 night after reading good reviews on Tripadvisor. |We wanted to tour Asturias after visiting Bilbao for the Asta Nagusia (week long festival, recommend for a visit).|We had a very good welcome & got room 105 which has a small balcony, I think the only one in the hotel looking from the outside, but not 100% sure.|Room was clean & comfortable. I really enjoyed the beautiful view from the balcony whilst sipping (ok drinking) the brilliant local cider & reading a book in the afternoon or evening. chilling out after a good day out canoeing or one of the many activties in the region.|We enjoyed our time in the hotel so much, we ended up staying for 4 nights, no better recommendation!!!!|Central for everything & did not have to use the car unless we went touring. Great base for visiting Asturias.|The staff were very helpful & informative, nothing was to much trouble. Will go back again next year

Lovely hotel we had an outside room overlooking the river. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They were available to give us restaurant recommendations and helping us find a driver to take us to Picos de Europa. The rooms were comfortable and clean with great bedding.

Lovely little hotel in the centre of town, close to the square and restaurants. Rooms, although small are spotless and the furnishings are modern and neutral. The staff are wonderful, although my Spanish is rusty and their English is not great they really make an effort to help and are always cheeerful and have time to speak with you. Overall a really llovely experience staying here.

In juni 2011 we stayed at Nochendi hotel for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time. Nochendi is a great charming little hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room had a nice view overlooking the river of Cangas. We enjoyed diner in the restaurant El Molin which is situated below the hotel. They serve lovely Spanish dishes from the region and offer wonderful service. Cangas de Onis is a lovely city with many small bars, restaurants and shops. We would love to return some day.

We stayed for 4 nights on a motorcycle trip from the UK into Spain. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier, and they made our stay really enjoyable and hassle-free. The breakfast was excellent, and the rooms are really comfortable. El Molin restaurant downstairs from the hotel was recommended by the staff, and proved to be an excellent choice also.

What some reviewers have found "simple," we found to be stylish and modern. The room was very comfortable and the location was extremely convenient. ||||Our room overlooked the river, which was both a plus and a minus. The view was lovely, but was shared by the sidreria (cider house) below us. Given Spaniards' apparent inability to leave off their drinking and chatting until midnight, the noise and conversations --- quiet and civilized by American standards --- did drift upwards. However, the hotels double-glazed windows effectively shut out the noise. ||||(This is not true of all downtown hotels in Spain, where nightlife tends to intrude until all hours.)||||We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the nearby Los Arcos on the Avenida Covadonga. The food was well prepared. (Dinner service does not begin until 8:30, and the locals did not begin to appear until at least 9.)||||We also enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Confiteria Merino 1920 on the main plaza, just a block from the hotel.

Stayed 2 nites, starting Sept 12th, in room #4 (I think they only have 8 rooms total) and enjoyed the hotel and it's town of Cangas de Onis. Our room had a lg window that opened out to the river and was above the restaurant, El Molin, owned by the 3 brothers that own/operate the hotel. One of the brothers speaks excellent English as does the Dutch gal that works there - the rest of the staff have limited English skills but all try their best to help you and answer your questions. Our room was rectangular and about 10' X 15' with a queen size bed (comfortably firm), desk/chair, plus small table and sitting chair. A new flat screen TV was installed on the wall above the desk while we were exploring the town - great picture but no English speaking channels - but we still enjoyed watching an old Randolph Scott/Angela Lansbury western late the 2nd nite even tho we couldn't understand the dialogue. The hardwood floor was a bit creaky but didn't bother us. The very clean tiled bathroom was large by European stds - about 8' X 10' with shower (plenty of hot water & good pressure), bidet, toilet, sink with adequate counter space, and a small wooden bench - the amenities were nice but the hair dryer lacked zip (lots of heat but weak fan). The in-room Wi-Fi (they pronounced it "wee-fee") didn't work but they provided an ethernet cable and the connection was fine, allowing us to use Skype on our laptop to make calls home. The location was excellent - across the bridge from the little Catholic chapel originally built around 727 AD over a pagan tomb that's viewable thru the chapel floor - a block in the opposite direction to the main town square and another block to the Roman bridge - plus numerous restaurants, bars, shops, and "travel agents" (for booking tours/equipment for hiking, rafting/kayaking and ATV exploring) all nearby. Our room rate of €80/nite (breakfast was an additional €6.50/person but we never got up early enough to partake) was a very good value and we would not hesitate to stay at Nochendi again.
