Where to Stay in Copenhagen When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"A few blocks south of the cemetery, Hotel Nora occupies an ornate 19th-century building with 42 high-ceilinged rooms; I liked that rooms have refrigerators, electric kettles, and air conditioning, and guests can request Danish or international newspapers in the morning." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Copenhagen (Updated2025)

"I stayed at Hotel Nora in diverse Nørrebro, housed in an ornate 19th-century building with airy, bright rooms that let in a lot of natural light and feature minimalist décor with bright carpet that pops. Rooms include a flatscreen TV, work desk, minifridge, coffee/tea maker, and free Wi‑Fi; bathrooms are a little dated but have good water pressure and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast is a fresh Danish spread that you order the night before, and I liked the small touches like receiving a bottle of water and a beer at check-in. There’s also a small rooftop terrace where you can hang out and enjoy views over the city." - Matthew Kepnes

Disappointing Experience – Broken Shower and No Accountability I wanted to like this place – I try to support small, family-run businesses when I travel. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. During my stay, the shower in my room was not working correctly and only had boiling hot water coming out. I tried to report the issue immediately, hoping for a quick fix or at least a reasonable solution. However they have no staff in the evening to help, and no number to contact for any help. Not only was the problem never resolved, but I was also told I would still be charged the full rate for the room. When I asked for a partial refund, the management declined, citing that they were a “small family-run business” and couldn’t afford to offer compensation. I responded asking them to reconsider their position, and they have chosen to ignore my requests. While I sympathize with the challenges of running a small operation, I also believe guests deserve to receive the services they pay for. A working shower is a basic expectation—not a luxury. Refusing to take responsibility for that kind of failure, especially when brought to their attention, is not good hospitality. I hope they reconsider how they handle issues like this in the future. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend this property to others until they take guest concerns more seriously.

Hotel Nora was recently renovated and is just lovely. Our room was spotlessly clean and very spacious for a European hotel room. It included a large closet, mini-fridge, and table with two comfortable chairs. Our bed was comfortable. The rooftop patio was so cozy and offered great views of the neighborhood. I also enjoyed the location of this hotel- in a bustling area, fairly centrally located in Copenhagen and near the lake. That being said, there is street noise at night, which didn’t bother us but it might bother others. The breakfast was very nice and worth the price. We will be back!

Great location in Copenhagen! Breakfast is good, you select ahead of time, but the staff is accommodating if you want something extra. The rooms on the street side can have a bit of noise from nearby restaurants and bars, but is otherwise quiet. The rooms on the upper floors can be a bit warm by the end of the day but will cool down.

Hidden gem in København! Simple and very high quality rooms. Fast WiFi, great front desk service, beautiful rooftop terrace. The staff here is incredibly-friendly, and the location is excellent. I really appreciated the opportunity to meet the owner, and he was immediately accommodating of our check-out needs even if we couldn't get the late departure due to the hotel being fully booked. Highly recommended.

Very decent hotel. Friendly staff, pre-ordered breakfast served at table (less food waste compared to a buffet, apparently). Good location (walking distance) between Nörreport metro station and University (Maersk Tower). Room facing courtyard was very quiet, bed comfortable. Small minus for very small bathroom (sink was tiny), but this may be common in older hotels in the area.

The cozy rooms have a lot of space, the breakfast is exceptional and there is a table near the dining room and reception with newspapers, candy, and apples! Rooftop terrace has breathtaking views!

Perfect location. Walking distance to all the major parts of the city. Close to subway/train. Welcoming staff. Very helpful. Rooms are clean and feels modern (except for the bathrooms - they need a makeover). Only downside is that the rooms facing the street gets very hot and there is only a fan. Sleeping with the windows open was possible but there’s a LOT of street noise.

Very delightful little non-chain hotel in the Norreboro neighborhood of Copenhagen. We have visited this city many times and stayed mostly in airbnb apartments. This neighborhood is dynamic with lots of bars and restaurants, and easy walking to the inner old city and buses/metro/trains. It is also noisy! If windows are closed in a street facing room it is quiet but stuffy so if noise matters request a room away from the street. Everything was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is simple and specify choices are made the day before, but it’s quite adequate and well prepared. This is an expensive northern European city and the room cost seemed quite reasonable to me - would definitely recommend!
