Hótel Norðurljós

Although I was not staying at the hotel, and it was out of season, the very welcoming chef prepared a huge, delicious piece of cod with tasty vegetables and preceded by an excellent fish soup, just for me! It was all washed down with an excellent Icelandic beer. Definitely worth a visit!

The hotel owner Holmsteinn went above and beyond to make our photography group feel right at home for our 3 night stay. The food was fabulous! The fresh caught fish was outstanding and the family style Leg of Lamb Sunday dinner was one of the best meals I have had. Holmsteinn, the hotel owner took us on a walking tour of the town after dinner one night. His kindness was legendary and very rare these days. This is the real deal - genuine Icelandic hospitality. Highly recommend this hotel in Northern Iceland!

We spent three nights here . This was our second time to stay . The hotel features clean, comfy rooms and the restaurant serves excellent meals that feature locally sourced ingredients. What sets this hotel apart from others is that the owner goes above and beyond to make his guests feel welcome. If you want to get away from the crowds and find small town Icelandic culture, you should visit this place.

Stopped here for some fish and chips, which was the best! Super friendly, beautiful view and great hospitality. Could not have had a better experience. I believe when we talk appt our trip to iceland when we return home, this will be one of the places we rave about.

On our road trip through Iceland, we visited the small town of Raufarhöfn and the Arctic Henge monument, Stonehenge’s younger brother, which is just a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle. It was already lunchtime and we decided to stop at the restaurant at the Nordurljos Hotel. We were welcomed by the owner. An extremely friendly gentleman, who in addition to offering us delicious food, also gave us lots of interesting information about the place and the region. I highly recommend it!

We came here looking for a place to eat and drink, and we were welcome in the most nicely way. The restaurant was fully booked, but the owner made sure we were properly accommodated. And found a little time to talk with us, he's probably one of the nicest man on the Iceland :)

The sweetest people I’ve ever met I think. We got to the village around 19:00 and nowhere to eat. Even though they were closed they let us in and served us food. When we wanted to tip they wanted to let us of with paying less than the bill actually was. In the end we convinced them to take the tip because if anyone deserves it, it’s them!
