Hótel Norðurljós

Hands down the best food we had in Iceland. The burger and cod loin(fished on the same day by the owner’s son!) was out of this world. We’ve been to fancy hotels and restaurants, none beats the food OR the service. Fantastic staff! The view was also incredible. Rooms are spacious, cozy and clean. Shower cabins are a bit small but honestly I’m a huge dude.

We arrived at the hotel past midnight, starving, and the owner kindly offered us a delicious fish soup. He was incredibly hospitable, and we had a memorable stay. The view from the restaurant was also amazing.

We had a fantastic stay, the owner was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We arrived very late and hungry, and he generously offered us a delicious fish soup. The hotel is beautifully maintained, and full of details that show real care. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, clean, and comfortable place to stay.

Although I was not staying at the hotel, and it was out of season, the very welcoming chef prepared a huge, delicious piece of cod with tasty vegetables and preceded by an excellent fish soup, just for me! It was all washed down with an excellent Icelandic beer. Definitely worth a visit!

The hotel owner Holmsteinn went above and beyond to make our photography group feel right at home for our 3 night stay. The food was fabulous! The fresh caught fish was outstanding and the family style Leg of Lamb Sunday dinner was one of the best meals I have had. Holmsteinn, the hotel owner took us on a walking tour of the town after dinner one night. His kindness was legendary and very rare these days. This is the real deal - genuine Icelandic hospitality. Highly recommend this hotel in Northern Iceland!

Was here around Oct'24. Hotel owner is very friendly. he is waiter, and cook for the hotel restaurant. Lamb chop is perfect, best meal in iceland. hope to be back again

We spent three nights here . This was our second time to stay . The hotel features clean, comfy rooms and the restaurant serves excellent meals that feature locally sourced ingredients. What sets this hotel apart from others is that the owner goes above and beyond to make his guests feel welcome. If you want to get away from the crowds and find small town Icelandic culture, you should visit this place.
