We stayed at the Northbridge Hotel on Lake Street for a Sunday night getaway (room 206) , and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.||Check-in was off to a rocky start — our room wasn’t ready at 2pm, and we were told this was due to only one housekeeper working Sundays to avoid paying penalty rates. Not a great first impression.||After about 20 minutes we were checked in and went to the room. It was tired and in need of serious maintenance:||- The bed was uncomfortable, and the duvet was too small for the mattress — if you tucked it in on one side, the other was left exposed.||- The spa bath, which was a key feature advertised, couldn’t be used because there was no bath plug.||- The window was faulty, the ceiling above the bath had visible stains, the extractor fan above the shower didn’t work, and one of the light switches was also faulty.||- The in room safe was out of order, and considering the note with it, has been for some considerable time.||Adding to the disappointment, the in-room information promised a complimentary meal and drink at the pub/restaurant. But when we asked, we were told it doesn’t open on Sundays — again, due to having to penalty rates — and no alternative or compensation was offered. This wasn't mentioned when we booked.||The location is undeniably excellent, but the hotel itself feels neglected and under-resourced. With some investment and attention to detail, it could be a great spot. As it stands, I wouldn’t recommend it for a relaxing or reliable stay.
