Hotel Nydeck

Fantastic location in the old town, very charming authentic-feeling hotel, lovely staff & great service. The rooms are basic but it suited us fine for the price. We really enjoyed our stay in Bern and the hotel was a perfect base :)

We had a great stay at Hotel Nydeck. We found it to be a really cosy hotel and loved the central location. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and even went to the trouble of posting us an item that we forgot!

Worst hotel i ever stayed in. Wonder how they got ** stars. Better add some $$ and stay in better hotel, there is plenty in area. Was misled by those 5*reviews, most probably fake, from t-ish accounts, from fresh accounts with no previous reviews. Can't imagine anyone give 5* review for this piece of... The room was trash. In hot weather unbearable hot no AC or even fan, small window with no air flow. Furniture trashed, ceilig so dirty, you can draw on it (someone allready did), mirror broken, fridge covered in mold and very stinky, hole in the wall fixed with duck tape, TV not working (all cables disconected) etc. Fountain just below window, sound of running watter all night long and street noise (cars, troley, bus), as hotel is located on the crossing of multiple streets, if you leave window open. Even got rotten apple for breakfast. For breakfast you get only whats on the photo - few slices of bread, egg, apple, coffe, juice. Photo ilustrate breakfast for two persons, one person gets half of that.

After reading the review I was a little apprehensive about our stay. However we were pleasantly surprised. The room was a good size, clean and the beds very comfortable. The room felt cosy and romantic with a lovely view of the old town. Only a 15 minute walk from the station. The lady at reception was helpful and quick with check-in. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The room had two large windows which opened wide and also an air-conditioning fan.|We would definitely stay again if we were staying in Bern.

Excellent visit, especially host Mike who spoke fluent English. He was exceptionally courteous and polite, and did everything from serving drinks on the patio, tending bar inside, serving breakfast in the morning, and answering questions about where to go and what to see in Bern. It was a pleasure to be his guest and when we thanked him for all his help he THANKED US for staying at the hotel. We definitely go back.

The location was amazing as it was right in the city. The staff was nice and pleasant. However this place was so noisy at night! Music could be heard from the outside until late at night. The room was super stuffy and warm. Had a hard time cooling down the room. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, bread, jams/butters, and an apple. There’s also lots of stairs. You’ll have to lug up your suitcases by yourself up the steep stairs.

Great stay for our last night in Switzerland! We had a corner room with great views of the city! It was clean and comfortable. The staff was also very accommodating and friendly. They held all of our luggage for us the day we checked out since we were catching an evening train. Breakfast was simple, but just what we needed to start our day. Would stay here again!

Good location, friendly staff, but dangerous bathroom. We had a room on the top floor, the glass door of the shower was broken and not holding in place. There also was black mold on the bathroom walls and the accessories like small mirror and hair dryer were broken. The bathroom and room need an update.
