Hotel Oberkirch

If you are visiting Freiburg, no hotel offers a better location. Communication in advance was excellent, clear and accommodating: we ended up with exactly the room we wished. Staff went out their way to please, especially front desk and the breakfast staff. Breakfast was very good. The room was spacious and impeccably clean. Freiburg is a great place to base a visit to the Black Forest. The hotel restaurant is very professional and courteous.

After three days in Germany, my wife and I finally had our first real meal at Oberkirchs Weinstuben—and it was unforgettable. The food was authentic and beautifully prepared, the service was professional yet warm, and the ambiance captured the charm of Freiburg perfectly. Nestled in an excellent location near the cathedral, this spot is everything you’d hope for in a traditional German dining experience. Highly recommended!

Spring rolls were cold in the middle and most of the potatoes were raw in the middle. The summer salad came with half a cherry tomato, for 25€ you’d expect at least a whole one. Service is very slow. The restaurant is a gouge. Extremely disappointing for the prices on the menu. Avoid.

Location was pretty good once we found the correct entrance! No AC- there was a fan which was fine. Bathrooms were nice.

Prominently located on the main market square, this place offers delicious traditional cuisine from the region but also modern German cuisine. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was attentive and friendly.

Location is great, just on the famous square, people/ owners are very friendly. We have received a free upgrade of our room with a much bigger bed. Breakfast is good, service -excellent. Rooms are clean and cosy. Definitely recommend . Worth coming back again.

A lovely hotel in a superb location next door to the Historisches Kaufhaus and facing Freiburg Minster.||I had a superb evening meal in the hotel restaurant on my second night.||Special thanks to Mr Sczesny, in reception, for informing me that breakfast was included in the booking-otherwise I would have missed out on two wonderful breakfasts, excellent sparkling wine included!||Very highly recommended

This is a great choice if you are looking for a spot in the old city. The building is charming, but despite its dead-center location and a busy restaurant downstairs, we experienced a completely quiet and serene stay there. The lady at the reception was wonderful and knowledgeable, and the service during breakfast was attentive. Keep in mind that with a room in a medieval building in Germany in a tourist hot spot, you will not have all that much space, but this joint is superbly clean and quiet, and breakfast is ample and varied.

Great location. The food is average. I had breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is above average but the choices are not much. It was crowded for lunch. Quality of service is just average.
