Hotel Obertor

Very nice hotel, close to sights around the city. Rooms are quite large and homely. Reasonable prices for drinks too. Thank you so much, would definitely stay again!

A fabulous hotel within the walls of Ravensburg.|It is worth paying the slight bit extra to stay in a de-lux large room, there is infinitely more space than in the standard room. Our room had an authentic feeling of history and at the same time the bed was excellent and bathroom perfect.|Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast very tasty.|Secure parking behind the hotel also a bonus.|Highly recommend.

We needed a place to stay during a family visit and took the apartment on offer from the Obertor. The Apartment was very roomy, enough place for a family of 4 (baby bed included) and all you need for a short visit in Ravensburg. Being situated directly at the Obertor - one of 3 old medieval tower-gates of Ravensburg still in existence and namesake of the Hotel, you have a perfect view down the Marktstraße (one of the main and ancient roads of the city) and you can easily start on a stroll through town. Know as the city of short walking distances, this is ideal to discover everything. Breakfast is served in the Hotel across the street (if you opt in for that) and its fantastic and the Staff is super friendly (the hotel has been in the same family for generations by now). The hotel itself and the apartments are older buildings, but that's part of the charme in living in a medieval city. So no elevators. Parking is available close by in the courtyard of the Hotel. We will definitely drop by again next time we are in town.

We ended up in a family room which had a lounge room plus a second bedroom. The staff were just lovely and helpful. The location was excellent. Breakfast was very good. About a 1.1 kilometer walk or 2.4 kilometer taxi ride. We did both, fare about 7.5 euro. Old town was beautiful, made the experience by having a festival.

Lovely hotel in a prime location, I stayed for one night only and the property was perfect for my needs. Clean quiet room, very friendly and helpful staff and very nice breakfast included. The hotel is situated just inside the historic wall of this gorgeous town adjacent to the narrow entrance. It all felt very quaint and most unusual compared to the standard homogeneous hotels us business men usually stay in.

Perfect location right in the city center and the Rütenfest parade started right out front! The free parking in back was convenient. Rooms were perfect. Comfy bed, spacious room but small bathroom. It was fine for just myself. The buffet breakfast had ample choices from meats, cheeses & eggs to cereal, breads & fruit.I would definitely stay again if I have the opportunity to return to Ravensburg.

I spent a weekend in Ravensburg and was looking for a central hotel. The Obertor Hotel is definitely that. I booked a single room, which was quite small but clean and comfortable. Next time I would try a double to get more space. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but I guess there used to be as they have a large area for this on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Nothing special, but just a simple small hotel.

With what seems to be a variety of small-ish but nicely appointed rooms and several ground-floor dining and gathering areas, all decorated in traditional and authentic old-German style, the Hotel Obertor exudes charm and comfort. While it doesn't strive for luxury, it lacks for nothing and has the welcoming, at-home feel of your favorite grandmother's carefully-maintained house. Staff are uniformly friendly, capable and eager to please; breakfasts are simple but fresh and with good variety; location just inside the upper gate ("Obertor") of the old city wall is excellent; wifi is free and fast; and the included parking, in an area where parking is much sought after, is a big plus. This is a place I'm happy to return to.
