This is a really lovely place to stay in Kampot. The conversion from a cinema to a hotel is very successful. The reception area is spacious with a great dining, bar an pool area. Very colourful. Very Wes Anderson.|The room was spacious - the murals and all the detailing are great. All the staff were a pleasure to interact with. Highly recommend

Excellent stay from start to finish. So glad we booked here for our 4 days in Kampot. Beautiful old cinema building stunningly restored in 2019 in true Art Deco style. Decorated beautifully and thoughtfully throughout in pastel shades, strikingly reminiscent of Ocean Drive Miami Art deco buildings, with an abundance of towering palm trees, plants and greenery in the entrance/reception area with it's open roof. Our room (Superior King Suite Room 108) was huge with an outside private balcony overlooking the pool. Spotlessly clean with superb air-con, a fridge is provided along with a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. Shower gel and shampoo are provided. The room smelt absolutely beautiful of botanicals when we first walked in. Breakfast was a highlight every morning, what an amazing choice, and each breakfast dish was a work of art! Lovingly made fresh to order and presented on a wooden serving platter, almost too pretty to eat!! Top marks to the chef and kitchen staff. The staff and Management were also all wonderful, so welcoming and friendly. Bas the owner, Jilly, Sokun at Reception and a huge shout out to the beautiful Lin who served our breakfast in the restaurant, she was an absolute joy each morning, so bright and friendly, always smiling and so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her. She was simply delightful and what an asset she is to this already brilliant hotel. Location couldn't be better, a stones throw from the Durian roundabout and straight across the road you're immediately in the beautiful small side streets of Kampot where all the bars/restaurants are, plus only a short 5 minute walk straight down to the Riverfront. Don't hesitate to book this hotel for your stay in Kampot but book early as it's popular and you can see why - you will not be disappointed. Absolutely faultless.

Great location! Unique little hotel in the middle of Kampot with a great history. The staff were all wonderful! They organised 2 days of trips for us with local drivers which we enjoyed very much. Communication before we arrived was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Magnificently renovated old cinema - I had a superior king room which was HUGE! Multiple rooms and a ferny and private balcony. Warm welcome from predominantly female staff, and nothing was too much trouble. The food, a fusion of French and Khmer was outstanding and their gin happy hour worth taking part in - try the spicy Cambodian gin. Refreshing pool ( not big enough for laps but a pleasant way to cool off). Breakfast options were varied and tasty. They happily arrange tours for you direct with tuk tuk guides and take no commission. No laundry service but recommended a local place round the corner that turned it round in 24 hours and was dirt cheap. Easy walk to riverfront and Old Town and there are always tuk tuks out the front to take you anywhere. Apart from the gorgeous art deco design what sets this place apart is its friendly and helpful staff. Just be aware that there is no.lift and all rooms are located up stairs - if you have mobility issues this could be a problem. From the moment I arrived I was delighted.

This hotel was exceptional in every way. Rooms thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. Friendly helpful service, tasty food and great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We even booked an extra night. The indoor/outdoor pool was refreshing to cool down after a hot day sightseeing. Book early so you secure a room.

There is soooo much to love about this little hotel. It has been beautifully renovated and the daily breakfast was superb. The central location to old Kampot is perfect for exploring the historical centre and river front. The staff were exceptional and super helpful. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 simply based on the comfort of the bedding. Without a doubt these are the hardest beds I've slept on in SE Asia. It was like sleeping on floorboards. The wonderful owner arranged a mattress topper immediately which made a small difference however it was still super uncomfortable.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but had dinner there one evening and also breakfast. Both meals were delicious and beautifully presented. I would particularly recommend the Kumon shared platter. It’s very peaceful in a courtyard full of plants and lovely local prints.

Staying at The Old Cinema was a pleasure. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a nice cold lime tea and a warm welcome with a thoughtful note, setting the tone for a truly special experience. The hotel’s lush greenery creates a peaceful and inviting atmosphere, offering a perfect sanctuary amidst the charming (but noisy) Kampot. The attention to detail in the design seamlessly combines the history of the space with modern comforts, making it a uniquely beautiful place to stay. What stood out most was the staff. Their attentiveness, warmth, and willingness to go above and beyond made us feel truly cared for throughout our visit. Whether offering local recommendations or ensuring every detail was just right, their hospitality was exceptional. If you’re seeking a tranquil retreat with character, excellent service, and a touch of elegance, The Old Cinema is a perfect choice. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Kampot.
