Gstaad Guide: Where to Stay, Eat, and Shop According to Dr. Barbara Sturm and Her Daughter Charly | Vogue

"Charming and simply a must-visit in Gstaad, Hotel Olden’s restaurant serves consistently delicious dishes; most people go for the penne alla vodka, while my favorite is the more classic pasta known as scuié scuié—a simple but mouth-watering version of a pomodoro—and I never leave without having the crêpes Suzette." - Elise Taylor

Hotel Olden (Gstaad, Swiss Alps) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Glitz and glamour have become synonymous with Gstaad, the Swiss ski resort beloved by A-list celebrities. But at Hotel Olden luxury is on the quieter side. The handful of suites are tastefully dressed in creamy neutral tones with traditional but not over the top touches such as rustic beams, checked curtains, and painted Alpine motifs. Restaurant Pinte more fully embraces chalet style, this is the place for a cozy après ski dinner, whilst at the signature restaurant elevated dishes are complemented with wines from the hotel’s excellent cellar. The team prides itself on its high level of service, so don’t hesitate to ask about Gstaad’s year-round activities if you want to explore beyond the slopes." - Tablet Hotels

I had a lovely short break at Hotel Olden and couldn’t be more pleased. It truly feels like a home away from home. The room was very warm, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast selection was amazing. The service at the restaurant was exceptional as well. Overall, my experience was excellent, thanks to the wonderful house staff and the restaurant team. Everyone was kind and friendly, going out of their way to ensure my stay was worth every minute. Thank you!

We booked a table for 8 people last week and unfortunately had a very poor service experience. Upon arrival, the head waiter strongly pushed a platter of fresh fish. We politely declined, saying we preferred to order something else. From that moment on, our table was largely ignored. When the first course was served, only 4 out of 8 guests received food, while the rest were left waiting. When we raised the issue, the response was extremely arrogant, with an attitude that felt like we should simply accept whatever was decided for us. We spoke to the person in charge, but instead of listening, we were told that we had requested things this way and that the staff was “well trained.” There was no effort to acknowledge the mistake or improve the situation. The overall feeling was that we were not considered important enough guests or not spending the amount of money expected. One waiter later apologized privately and explained that decisions come from management and that he could do nothing about it. This is particularly disappointing because the food is very good and the restaurant and hotel are beautiful. Unfortunately, the service attitude and management approach completely overshadow the quality of the food. I usually avoid writing negative reviews, but I believe this feedback is important and hope the ownership takes it seriously.

We were recommended Olden by many local friends, hence we were very excited to try their famous penne al vodka. Honestly, very average food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. I think its a place to see and get seen, but the food quality which is what matters most to us, was rather on the low side. Either of us didn’t finish the pasta, and the salad was rather normal. The hotel is beautiful and as I said, the service was excellent, apologies for the honest review.

It was our first time at Olden, and despite being fully booked, Massimo made every effort to accommodate us with a table. Since there was zero availability upstairs, we were taken to La Cave downstairs, where we enjoyed live music—it couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff were attentive, and the food was excellent. The schnitzel was generous, and the crepe Suzette was delicious. I will definitely return and make a reservation in advance, as it seems to be a popular venue. Highly recommended.

Bad experience and too expensive ! Further I just ordered one bottle of water and asked waiter to wait if I need another bottle but still he brought another bottle of water and it had cost me 24 Swiss francs just for two 47 cl bottles. Additionally, just one simple pasta plate costs 50 Swiss francs. The food was also average taste. Definitely not recommended ! Else if someone wants to have looting experience

Dined in for Christmas Eve; average food, portions of schnitzel was too big and we were not told. As a result lot of food was thrown away - staff was ironic as they told us we should have known that in advance Cloackroom staff amateurs and not polite

I did not stay at this hotel, but I went there with my wife for lunch. Unfortunately, the food quality was extremely poor and honestly inedible ,so bad that we couldn’t eat anything, yet we still paid the full bill. When we politely mentioned that the food was not good, the staff reacted with anger, waved his hand dismissively, and said it didn’t matter because they would take the money anyway. This was a truly terrible experience. It is completely clear that this place suffers from extremely poor management. You should never trust them, not even for booking a room. The staff are very rude and show absolutely no respect to their guests. This is unacceptable and I strongly advise others to avoid this place.

The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The only downside was that the second course took a bit longer than expected, but it was well worth the wait. The service was exceptional: incredibly kind, attentive, and made the experience feel genuinely warm and welcoming. Would definitely come back!
