Hotel Palacio Blanco, Velez-Malaga, Andalucia, Spain - Explore & Book

"Down a cobbled street lined with ceramic-tiled Andalucian houses, a massive nail-studded door swings open to reveal 3 levels of rooms spread around a delightful colonnaded courtyard. Once an 18th-century Bishop's palace, the building was painstakingly renovated with lashing of TLC and now has a pleasing blend of modern and Moorish decor, with cool chequered floor tiles, cushioned iron chairs, chandeliers hanging from vaulted ceilings and splashes of deep red in cushions and flamboyant art - olé! Popular with young couples, friends, groups and families, Palacio Blanco is well located in the heart of Velez-Malaga, a traditional Andalucian town yet to succumb to the flood of tourists elsewhere in the Costa del Sol. You'll be warmly greeted and given a mini tour of the hotel, before being shown to one of the 9 rooms. Decked out in tones of cream, gold and silver, or ox-blood red and crimson, they are contemporary and spacious with large beds, comfy seating and capacious shower rooms. Hot from your journey? Don a soft waffle bathrobe and pad to the rooftop pool for a paddle. The views from here are stunning, over the town, castle and mountains beyond. Help yourself to a drink from the honesty bar and settle in for sunset. Highs Wandering around the pretty backstreets of Velez-Malaga and sampling local tapas Long lazy breakfasts in the breezy courtyard and starlit nights on the roof terrace listening to the rumour of the streets beneath Good value for money, though note that prices don't include tax or breakfast Velez-Malaga is largely untouched by the Costa del Sol's tourist masses but is within easy reach of beaches and nightlife, and just half an hour from Malaga airport Lows Noise from the street in rooms at the front; light sleepers should choose rooms 2, 5 and 6, which face the side and rear, and if these are unavailable, bring earplugs Not enough shade by the pool but sail shades over the bar area Parking is difficult. With buses to the beach and to Malaga, and everything else within easy walking distance, you may prefer not to bring a car Rooms get a bit hot in summer; phone ahead to give your arrival time so that air con can be put on in advance" - Heidi Fuller-Love

The hotel is beautiful, with exquisite Moroccan decoration, and the rooms are very spacious and cool (which is appreciated in the hot Malaga of September). Our entire family stayed for two days, and we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel and its terrace with a small pool. The only thing that detracts from the experience is that when it comes to services, credit card payment was not accepted, and on the day we had to check out, the hotel manager was in the hallway giving orders to the cleaning staff, and we felt quite uncomfortable and pressured to check out quickly even though there was still an hour left until check-out time.

Beautiful ‘home from home’ - entering through an ancient wooden door off the street one finds oneself in a cool porticoed central courtyard with lots of white marble . With rooms mostly facing inwards (some don’t - ours faced the road but traffic is very light) Maria is a kind and attentive host at breakfast and there is an ‘honesty’ bar for the rest of the day. Vélez-Málaga is a charming old town and its bars and restaurants are a short walk away The beaches of the Costa del Sol are an easy taxi ride away

It's been nearly 3 years since we visited our favourite hotel for "Palacio" time. And it is great to see it is still as good as it ever was. From the moment we arrived Maria made us feel at home. Maria told us all about the changes in the town in terms of new places to eat which was really useful.||The beds are so comfortable and rooms so well appointed. The breakfasts are excellent and the honesty bar is brilliant allowing you to chill out in the sun and quench your thirst whenever you need to. We were in Velez during a festival and the atmosphere was electric. Great to see the town buzzing.||A big thank you to Maria. Thinking about the next visit!

What can I saty about Pacio Blanco other than....it's just perfect. We've been coming here since just after it opened, and are already planning our next trip back. The place is just soooo relaxing, and the roof terrace is the perfect spot for a glass (or bottle) of cava - it's a total suntrap. ||The rooms are stylishly furnished, and very comfortable. The breakfasts are buffet style, and very tasty. ||If you prefer the beach, Torre Del mar is just a short cab ride away, although the beach is gravel rather than sand, but once you're on a sunbed you don't really notice! The local bars and restaurants are great - and there are often new places to try during every visit. ||All the people we've recommended this place to that have visited, have always returned... that, to me says it all....||Keep up the good work!

Off an unassuming street, this haven of tranquillity gives you an opportunity of discovering the interesting historic Velez - Malaga. We spent a week at this delightful small ( 9 rooms ) boutique hotel.||It is a short bus ride to Torre del Mar for the delight of a beautiful beach and seafood restaurants.||Maria is a wonderful host with knowledge of where to go , what to see and where to eat. The courtyard for breakfast is a delight and the rooftop pool and bar offers complete privacy for sunbathing and relaxation.||We will be back !!!

If you are looking for a boutique hotel which gives you the family feel, is far enough away from the tourist madness, but close enough to everything you want during a holiday, this is the place. Velez-Malaga is quite a sleepy Andalusian town, but its location is very central. Just 15 minutes drive to Torre del Mar and the beach and not much more to get to the mountains. |Hotel Palacio Blanco is a fantastic place. Run by a very passionate host, Maria, who understands customer service and will make sure you feel at home. |We stayed here for 6 nights and had a great time. Thanks Maria for your incredible hospitality and for making us feel at home.|We hope to be back all the way from Australia.||

We have stayed at Palacio Blanco many times over the years and have just returned from another 10 night stay. I suffered a nasty stroke just before Christmas which the owners Jan and Christa knew about and they had passed this info on to Maria who was managing the hotel. I can honestly say that as well as the hotel being every bit as wonderful as it always was, Maria really made sure that I was looked after and that I had everything I needed. She was happy for us to have breakfast later on the mornings that I had needed to sleep in. On some days we stayed up on the roof terrace all day which was fab and just what the doctor ordered! I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it really is first class and a credit to the hard work that Jan, Christa, Maria and the wonderful Sicilia who looks after the rooms have put in to it. Love them all 😘

We stayed here for 2 nights during the beginning of Semana |Santa 2019. It’s a beautiful hotel in the heart of the old town. Maria, the owner was so helpful and welcoming. The room was beautifully decorated and her breakfasts are amazing. Can highly recommend
