We didn’t stay in the hotel as we were staying nearby but we went to the restaurant in the evening for a meal. We called in earlier in the day just to check about booking and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. He told us all about the history of the building which was fascinating. We booked for the evening meal as the menu looked good and very reasonable. Well we weren’t disappointed! In fact it was one of the nicest meals we’ve had in Spain. We had the most beautiful grilled vegetables to start and then hake in tempura batter with lemon alioli and calamari with kimchi sauce which was to die for! For dessert we shared Pan de calatrava with some delicious nutty ice cream. This was the best calatrava we’ve ever had in Spain! Again the staff were lovely and very helpful. The owner was around all evening making sure everything went well. If you’re ever staying in Belmonte go here!! We were only passing through sadly!!

We ended up here when the hotel where we intended to stay in another town was closed for renovation, one of those lucky, serendipity things that happen sometimes when you are on a trip in unfamiliar places. This hotel was wonderful, and the restaurant dinners were very good. It also has a parking garage, which is a nice amenity when you are traveling through Spain by car. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, but knowledge of some conversational Spanish is helpful, because this is not a touristy chain that caters to English-speaking guests---which is part of its charm. Be sure to visit the castle in this town while you are there, as it was one of the highlights of our trip through Spain.

We booked this hotel as a stop over between Madrid and Valencia and as a base to visit the windmills of Don Quixote area of Castle La Mancha. The building is old with a lovely rustic décor. We visited at the end of June 2009 and the hotel which has 36 rooms, was practically empty. There is a large unused courtyard and gardens with outdoor bar (locked up) – so someone was expecting tourists. There is a lock-up garage with free parking as street space is limited. ||||Belmonte is beautiful but extremely quite so don’t come for the nightlife! The castle was closed for renovation but is magnificent from outside. The cathedral is worth a visit too. ||The highlight of the area are the old windmills of the Don Quixote trail and we visited Moto del Cuervo, Campo de Criptana, Consuegra and El Toboso. ||||Our room was clean with a country feel and the most magnificent view. We paid €37.50 pps including breakfast. The Air Conditioning was satisfactory. The staff were very friendly and helpful – however you will need a smattering of Spanish, as they have no English. Breakfast was very basic. ||||We had two evening meals here, taking the menu del dia at €22 each – which is expensive for rural Spain. Belmonte has nowhere else to eat which is probably the reason for the high price. The first meal was satisfactory. In hindsight we believe this was because the restaurant had a large local booking for that evening. The second was very disappointing and which we think was ‘assembled’ by the waiter. There were no other diners or staff around. We did not complain because of the language barrier, because we got what we ordered and because the waiter was so nice but he knows we got poor value.

Stayed here in June 2021. We had a very good time here. First of all, the help by Juan Antonio to help us organize a wine tasting close to Belmonte worked out great. Asked him where we could dine as the hotel restaurant was not open, covid time you know. He then proposed to have a dinner made for us, a group of 8. Asked him to prepare a dinner focussed on local specialities. And so we had a super meal, served by a very friendly staff, a clean and very nice hotel, and fantastic help. Thanks to you all people of the Palacio!.

Fantastic and lovely place to stay and enjoy very good quality local products with very economic prices. We are also very grateful to the owners for their attention and treatment

This is a very old hotel and, at 68 Euros, somewhat expensive for a two star. When we arrived, the bedside lights were not working, it turned out they were not even plugged in as the cables could not reach the socket! Extension leads had to be provided. Window blind could not be used as it was broken and tied up with a piece of string. The headboard of one of the beds had come away from the wall. Other than that, the room was o.k. Very spacious and clean with a great view of Belmonte Castle. Breakfast was a disappointment - stale croissants and tea that tasted fishy.

We are here with a group. While the food was alright, it was not great. Pretty average to be honest.
