Our initial intention for staying here was just as a stopover during our travels through Italy. We most certainly underestimated the beauty and charm of Spello, and of this hotel as well. Our overall experience at Hotel Palazzo Bocci was very good, and it started with the first impressions and helpfulness of the gentleman who checked us in. Felt welcome right away. Located in the heart of Spello, this hotel exhibits plenty of old world charm with several beautiful and comfortable sitting rooms, old fashioned keys, and rooms with character! Candidly, the rooms may lack a sense of “polish” and modernity to some; but we found our rooms to be absolutely charming and comfortable while still being a bit “rough around the edges.” We found the housekeeping to be very good and overall condition of the property to be good. Our room had a small sitting area as you walked in, with two steps leading up to the bathroom and bedroom. A patio was off the sitting area with stunning west views of the surrounding region! Candidly, the patio (with its chairs) could have been cleaned up a bit more to remove the moss and vegetative growth. Our bedroom had a small window which faced the street and church across the street. The bed mattress was surprisingly comfortable; overall room size and comfort were satisfactory. The building has s small elevator. The complimentary breakfast “spread” was amazing! Best of our 12 days in Italy! The assortment of breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, etc were outstanding. Coffee (served individually in your own coffee pot) by the waitress was excellent. This hotel is a “gem” that could use a bit of “polish,” but we would most certainly stay here again, and suggest other adventurous travelers to give consideration to stay here. This is a central “base” to explore the wonderful town of Spello. (Special thanks to our host for getting us a “last minute” dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant. Also, for those arriving by car, free parking is located a few meters away in an open air lot)

My husband and I visited the hotel in August of 2018. In as much as it is right in the middle of the city, we found the hotel to be very quiet and peaceful. The room was very clean, well light and spacious. We found the hotel perfect for rest and relaxation. They have a well stocked library that is comfortable and quiet. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts. All the pastries are done in house and the layout is in abundance. If you love your coffee, they do it just right. The staff were also very friendly and the cleaning lady seemed like an elf. We always found our room clean whenever we came back from breakfast. The only thing that kind of dampened my stay was the super slow internet connection which was also non existent at times. I was on a working vacation so needed to respond to emails every now and then but their internet connection made it difficult. Spello is a very beautiful hidden gem that made me think I never knew Italy at all. As an art lover, I found the experience breathtaking and very memorable. I look forward to staying at Palazzo Bocci on my next visit to "Spello bello" as we have christened it!

This hotel is in the perfect spot. Easy walk to the piazza, which was unfortunately under construction. But it was still beautiful Staff was very friendly. At first we were given a room that smelled of smoke very badly. We asked for a different room and were happily accommodated. Parking is easy - they give you a tag for the dash. Nicely appointed hotel. We bought some wine and cheese at a local market and enjoyed in the little courtyard with olive and other fruit trees where there is a lovely view of the valley. Would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Palazzo Bocci and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The hotel is charming and the staff are wonderful, going out of their way to provide service. There was also free parking in the lot across the way from the hotel - what more do we need? ||I booked a junior suite with a view to the hills at a very reasonable rate. Others have commented on the hotel as being “dated” and there is a bit of truth to this, but it’s also an old building and maintained well. I prefer to think of it as a faded but lovely antique, which has its own inherent charm. The room was a decent size for the 2 of us with a sitting room and 2 large cushioned chairs. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, while slightly dated, worked well, and there were nice amenities provided. ||The view, while pleasant, also overlooks the roads (a distance away), as the more majestic views are on the other side of the road. ||The breakfast rooms are small, but there is a good buffet, providing both savory (cheeses, meats) and sweets (pastries, croissants, etc), and the breakfast staff will make coffee to order. ||I loved the common spaces, including the large terrace area, with chairs and tables and a few lounge chairs. |I agree with others that the WiFi was inconsistent, though, and this would be valuable to improve. But we also found this problem throughout our 5-week trip in other locations throughout Italy. ||Spello was very busy with tourists when we were there at the end of September, but we did find it easy to get away from the crowds. One of the days we were there we took a fabulous walk along the ancient aqueduct. This was one of our favorite activities of our trip! |We had a wonderful time visiting Spello and really enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo Bocci. ||

The hotel is very central. Easy to walk to the Commune di Spello and close by a beautiful elegant restaurant. The staff are very friendly, the rooms clean and just a nice place to stay. The room was big enough to accommodate photographer, beautician hairdresser etc. Just one issue. As soon as the hairdryer was running for a couple of seconds, the fuse went off. However, we managed.

Located only a few minutes walk from Centro (Piazza della Repubblica), this hotel was more like B&B with friendly staff. They were very generous to offer a free parking space (maybe not in high seasons) across the street. Since we visited in early April before the town gets crowded for flower competitions etc., we had to sympathize with the staff for having to work on everything for only a few guests. Rooftop terraces had great views of part of the town downhill.

Good sized room and bathroom, tho awkward tub/shower comb as seems common (shower faces narrow vs long ways). Room was large with one comfortable chair, bed was OK/firm, pillows a bit hard. A large common area (see pic) has comfortable couches and great murals. We sat there and happily read while it rained. Continental breakfast; hot eggs available for additional charge. When we were there they had one woman working breakfast (making espresso, refreshing food, cleanup) and running the front desk, meaning she couldn't quite keep up despite trying. Overall a pleasant stay.

It is advertised as a "Palazzo", this is quite misleading. It does have a nice frescoed room, but otherwise this hotel is quite dumpy. Parking is free across the road, breakfast dissapointing. They did have a nice seating area in the garden. I think this place used to be quite something in its day. It is now badly in need of an upgrade however. The rooms are also particularly void of any charm.
