Palazzo Grillo is a very old building transformed into a great modern hotel yet retaining many of its classic features. The hotel is in an historic piazza which adds to its appeal. Before we went the hotel was very helpful in suggesting things to do and in recommending restaurants all of which were spot on. Check in was easy and friendly. We had a Deluxe Double room with a view over the piazza. It was a really good room with everything we needed. As there is no traffic in this part of the city the room was very quiet. The hotel is well positioned so that most of what you will want to see is within walking distance. All the restaurants we went to were less than a five minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast is in a bright room on the fifth floor and has a small terrace. The service and products at breakfast were excellent. Everyone working in the hotel was very friendly and greeted you when coming and going from the hotel. There was a nice atmosphere. On the second floor there is a beautiful room where you can relax, read a book or just have a coffee. I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Genoa.

Perfect little hotel for families--they have dropped a very minimal, modern hotel into a beautiful old palazzo with crumbling frescoes and grand staircases, but a glassed-in living room with great furnishings, and beautiful modern amenities. The hotel has very spacious rooms, modern bathrooms, and excellent location. The price was very low given that it was a suite that included space for me and my three teenaged children to sleep, with a loft-style bedroom. We had a car, and the hotel's parking is off-site, but the hotel is easy to find and only a short walk. We had great food in Genoa--the hotel's recommendations were excellent. We enjoyed wandering the streets, and happened to be there on a Sunday when things are less crowded, but many of the sites are still open (most shopping isn't open on Sunday in Genoa, so be advised). We found it so relaxing. The staff are really helpful and friendly.

I really enjoyed my two night stay at the Palazzo Grillo. The location was very central in Genoa, the building was absolutely stunning from an architectural point of view (I imagine it was a listed historical building). Rooms were very clean, temperature was good, the mini bar was well stocked and there was also a kettle, tea and coffee available. The bed was very comfortable and spacious with lots of pillows. Shower/bathroom were very spacious. I also enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning, they had a great selection of continental breakfast as well as sweets/pastries. After checking out we were allowed to leave our baggage in the storage room for a few more hours free of charge which was very handy. Staff was very polite and spoke really good English. Would highly recommend and if I visit Genoa again I will definitely be staying here again!

The hotel was lovely, a fresh respite in a crowded, difficult to navigate old city. The front desk folks were so helpful and kind. Breakfast was complete and yummy. The room was a bit Spartan but the general cleanliness and order of the entire hotel more than made up. Being IN an historic home was a treat!!! I heartily recommend Palazzo Grillo. P.S. don’t miss going inside the church just outside the hotel’s front door. Amazing!! Breast taking!!

Platizo Grilli exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, providing maps, recommendations, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.||||The hotel itself is stunning—housed in a beautiful historic building with original staircases and charming architectural details. Yet, the rooms are completely modern, immaculate, and thoughtfully designed. The bathroom was spacious, with great toiletries and a sleek, contemporary feel.||||The location is fantastic, set in a small square with a lively café perfect for an aperitivo. It’s an excellent base for exploring Genoa, offering both charm and convenience.||||Beyond the beautiful setting, what truly sets this hotel apart is the exceptional service. The staff are some of the kindest and most helpful I’ve encountered, making my stay even more enjoyable.||||Considering the quality, comfort, and service, this hotel is an incredible value. I would absolutely stay here again—it’s easily one of my favorite hotels!

L'hotel è fantastico, il servizio eccezionale, la posizione ancora meglio. Peccato che la colazione non abbia molte opzioni vegane. Palazzo Grillo was embellished with a rich prospect of marbles and frescoes of the famous painter Gio Battista Castello called the Bergamasco on the request of Domenico Grillo. The Palace is known for its interior picturesque cycles, the subject of a careful restoration, and the architectural decorations of the prospect almost completely disappeared today, that Bergamasco painted, creating a unique effect, of monumental and airy combination. At the end of '600s another great master, Domenica Piola, was engaged to decorate the interiors, some of his vaults remained, one is particularly, of rare beauty.

Positives: The location is amazing!… can’t get better. The library and entrance lobby beautiful and the perfect place to relax in. The hotel is beautifully maintained and very clean. Mediums. Breakfast is ok. Fresh each day. But after 3 days of staying we were already bored of the exactly the same food without any variety and you can’t order anything from a restaurant as there isn’t one!… tea and coffee all self service, which for me is bizarre for a 4* hotel. Negatives: The service is non existent. There’s nothing. If you want a snack after breakfast, good luck as they only offer a biscuit or piece of fruit. This applies to anytime after breakfast finishes at 10:30 No room service. Nothing No bar. Good luck if you want a drink of anything other than water or coffee. Water: we were incredibly annoyed to be charged for drinking more than the singular bottle the room was provided with. I mean, come on… being charged for water! It’s incredible and simply tight fisted. Car park. There isn’t one. Which is totally fair enough and they offer a little shuttle van to the car park on the marina. But.. if you arrive after 15:00, which you will as check in is after 15:00, they stop providing this service and you have to arrange your own taxi and pay for it!… oh, you also only get 50% discount on the car park. Again very tight fisted and not good hospitality for a 4* hotel! This hotel is beautiful, but its misses all the basics you expect when staying in a 3* hotel, let alone a 4*… the owners need to step up and provide hospitality, not just the take take

This is a beautiful palazzo in the very heart of the city. Furthermore it has been decorated with a very tasteful modern touch. It’s gorgeous! Unfortunately the management does not live up to the expectations (neither to a 4 star status) and is more suitable for a Ryanair experience. No staff to take your luggage, they’ll charge you for water, they’ll just cover for a fraction of the parking, not all, no shuttle to the hotel after 3.30 pm and you’ll see a similar breakfast at the Premiere Inn. So it all feels like they really dont care and dont understand their clientele. Which is even more silly when you have such an amazing palazzo… Change the management and this could be stellar
