"Formerly the private residence of Gioacchino Murat, king of Naples and Napoleon’s brother-in-law, Palazzo Murat has the mark of aristocracy—white-walled interiors are outfitted with elegant antiques, oil paintings, and decorative tiled floors—but also the welcoming atmosphere of a dear friend’s home. The 18th-century villa is tucked away behind cascades of bright bougainvilleaand greenery-filled grounds fragrant with jasmine and citrus trees yetcentrally located in Positano’s pedestrian zone, making it an ideal base for shopping holidays and seaside idylls alike. The pool is especially impressive, flanked by a lawn studded with chic sunbeds and backed by a storybook scene of pastel-hued houses stacked higgledy-piggledyalong the hillside. Just steps away is the charming Al Palazzo restaurant, which incorporates ingredients from its vegetable patch and twinkles with candlelight in the evenings. As for the guest rooms, soothing white spaces are accented with pops of blue and lemon yellow, and French doors open onto lovely balconies with views of the gardens, town, or sea."
What an absolute gem this place is! We instantly fell head over heels for this stunning property, and the vibrant, welcoming staff made our experience unforgettable. It felt like we had discovered a serene oasis right in the heart of the lively energy of Positano! The hotel’s location is perfect—just a stone's throw from the beach, local attractions, and shopping. Yet, as soon as you step onto the grounds, you’re whisked away into a breathtaking garden paradise. The restaurants are incredible! The dishes are wonderful and the service is professional without the pretense. We loved the breakfast on the terrace & the dinners under the lemon trees! ||A huge shoutout to the owners and management—our stay was truly enhanced by the incredible hospitality of the staff. They were not only professional and accommodating but also empowered to connect with guests, making us feel genuinely welcome and valued! As hospitality professionals, my husband and I are rather picky about where we stay, and this place totally blew us away—Bravo & Brava! We will definitely return! Grazie!

This is the perfect hotel. The staff, the rooms, the facilities, location, everything about this place is perfect. I really can not fault this place. The room was perfect, great size, clean, the beds and linen are amazing. The entire complex is gorgeous from the gardens, the pools, the entire building, staff. Great buffet breakfast and restaurant. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to everyone.

I cannot leave better reviews about this hotel!! The location is amazing. You’re right next to the port/beaches, restaurants and shops. The staff was amazing (personal shout out to Leonardo, Carlo and Elena). Our room was upgraded upon arrival without asking. The restaurant (breakfast and dinner) were both amazing. Great drinks, fun pool area and gorgeous views. Rooms were so clean and taken care of.

From the moment we arrived at Palazzo Murat, we knew we found “our place” in Positano. Stepping off of the crowded street, the noise fell away. Quietly elegant but welcoming, with beautiful landscaping (one pillar is carved out to accommodate a trunk of bougainvillea), we all felt the stress of travel fall away. Check-in was a breeze, allowing us to quickly enter our stunning family suite. Tall painted doors and high ceilings gave an authentic “palazzo” feel, mixed with well-chosen modern accents. The spacious suite accommodated our family of four (two teens). The property flows well, from large dining terrace to intimate covered outdoor restaurant to pool overlooking enchanting local church and the stunning Tyrrhenian Sea. New gym offers modern machines with a view that cannot be imagined. The staff are knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind, adding extra touches where they could to make our stay that much more special. We will be back!

Only stopped in the courtyard for a drink but this place feels magical. They have live music in the late afternoon and a great cocktail list. And there’s a beautiful lemon tree in the courtyard. Great for a break, a romantic stop, or just some cute pictures

We stayed at Hotel Palazzo Murat for 4 nights in May with my husband during our stay in Positano. We used the hotel as our base to travel the Amalfi Coast and we could not have been happier with the choice of hotel. The location of the hotel is exceptional. The rooms are beautiful, bright and clean. The service provided is exceptional throughout the hotel from top to bottom. The food was incredible and the concierge recommendations spot on. Any and every table they booked or for us was top of the range. A special thank you to Leanoardo for taking such good care of us and all the excellent recommendations. Will definitely be back!

The critical thing about this hotel is its location. It’s about as central to Positano as it is possible to get and therefore is a 5 minute walk from the beach and the harbour and is in the midst of the main street with its bars and boutiques.|The hotel had organised a car transfer for us from Naples airport which was very efficient. It dropped us at the rendezvous point where our bags were taken to the hostel and we walked down through the pedestrian area. Check in was very smooth and simple and we were greeted with a glass of prosecco. Our room was fully equipped and overlooked the restaurant as well as having views of the church. |Staff were very helpful and English was well, and widely, spoken.|Concierge service was very good too, and assisted with a restaurant reservation as well as onward car transfer. There was also an evening boat cruise with views of Positano and other areas of the Amalfi Coast.|The hotel was very popular with American visitors.|Positano gets incredibly busy and the hotel is an oasis of calm tranquility in the midst of all of this. |The restaurant was good too and, again, staff dealt with what could have been an issue in a calm and sensible manner.

My wife and I just returned home from our trip to Italy. In celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary, we went to Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast. We ended our trip with staying at Hotel Palazzo Murat in Positano and could not have hoped for a better way to end our celebration. From the beginning, the hotel manager, Leonardo, and the staff were welcoming, informative, helpful, and caring. The beauty of the hotel and its amenities alone could have been enough, but the wonderful staff and incredible food, solidified this hotel as one of the best on the coast. We were sad to leave but excited for the day we will return as we've come to view this place as "our new home away from home"!

Yelp
Incredible. Absolutely incredible at every turn. I've been all around the world and I can say without even the slightest hesitation that Hotel Palazzo Murat is my favorite hotel i've EVER stayed at.
The service. Leonardo is simply the best of the best. First of all, hello Robert Downey Jr?? Let's just say he not only looks just like Iron Man himself, but also has all of his charisma as well. He truly made our time here unequivocally special and honestly just made us feel so welcomed. I will never forget when the hotel had live music on Wednesday night and he danced with my mom. The environment he cultivates for his guests is unlike no other. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful bar team too. All of the boys were so kind to me, they made me feel like royalty. Needless to say I was blown away by all of the wonderful people working here.
The beauty. The hotel is showered in beautiful pink flowers and gardens that are impossible to ignore. To say the views are spectacular would be an extreme understatement. I don't have the words to fully convey how truly magnificent this hotel is. I already miss it greatly and it's only been one month. If there is another time where I should find myself lucky enough to be in Positano again, it will not be up for debate where I will be staying.

Yelp
Exquisite hotel
Excellent Customer Service
Both restaurants are very good!
The grounds are beautiful and we were able to use the spa, no one was there. They also have a gym with minimal workout equipment but it kept us going. Walking to
The quaint little town was fun. Not much shopping but great pizza at Pizza IT

Yelp
We had drinks on the outdoor patio and the experience was wonderful!
A short walk up from the waterfront and you'll find this lush spot that allows for an escape from the Positano crowds. The space is sizable but shade is to be had with some luck (depending on the time of day). Nonetheless, the staff is friendly and the service is quick.
But let's not forget about the fare - we had both drinks and small bites and both really hit the spot. We were in need of some relaxation after roaming the town streets and this place came through for us.
If you're looking for a more upscale spot to take a load off and sip a chill beverage then make your way to this hotel's patio. It doesn't disappoint!

Yelp
Ease of access:***** (pretty empty in October)
Price:** quite expensive for what they offer
Athmosphere: ***** (super charming Atmosphere even if they have no sea view)
Service: **** (my anchovies pasta came without anchovies but they corrected it very quickly)
Quality of the food: ***
18€ for an appetizer that was a tomato/avocado/can tuna salad. It was not even that tasty
24€ for some spaghetti with anchovies. It was well cook and tasty but come on!
My wife had the special that was spaghetti with truffles for 38€.

Yelp
The most luxurious and beautiful hotel we've ever stayed at!
It's a bit on the spendy side but almost all hotels in Positano are around this price.
They treat you like royalty! Spacious, clean and beautiful rooms and great services.
We especially loved the garden bar downstairs. Gorgeous scenery, delicious cocktails and a bunch of free snacks with your drinks.
We had the most amazing time here and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Positano.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the ferry dock and just minutes away from shops and restaurants.
Grazie mille!

Yelp
Relax and enjoy the atmosphere! Causal outdoor seating surrounded by lush vegetation. The service is wonderful, and the drinks and snacks make the perfect pairing.

Yelp
One of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at. First of all, we had the warmest greeting we've ever had on check in. The property is so calming and serene, between the atmosphere filled with lemon trees to the live music some nights. A little oasis in the middle of Positano. You can't beat the location. Each room was uniquely different from one another. Staff were very helpful in giving activity tips and suggestions. I would stay were in heartbeat again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
great spot amidst the tourist area of Positano. be sure to check it out for some peace when things get busy in the square area of amalfi coast. i really enjoyed the appetizers there and the nice calmness. the ristorante is very clean and upscale. it is on the pricier side compared to the other parts of town. they all speak well english and are very funny too. listen to the waiters recommendations!

Yelp
If you are looking for a private experience in this area then this is the hotel for you. I am always happy to come back to the hotel (streets and beach are packed) because it offers an oasis type experience. It was my wife and son with me. Rosita at the front desk and Biagi as bellman were both excellent. Highly recommend coming here. Rooms are on smaller size, but that's OK as they are renovated and have amazing balcony. Breakfast included. Definitely stay here and pay the price!

Yelp
Lovely hotel, very upscale, so the rating is not for that, but rather I am commenting on the horrible service and treatment we received at the bar. The waiter, Claudio, made us feel that we were not welcome. We sat ourselves as there was no host and then waited a very long time for anyone to acknowledge us. I finally caught his attention and asked for a menu. He was very dismissive, but took our order. Brought our glasses and put them both down by me, I had to serve my husband his glass. The whole experience was disappointing as it's a lovely place.

Yelp
This property is something straight out the most beautiful dreams. Disclaimer, I didn't stay at the actual hotel proper, but used the courtyard and pool/event space below the property.
My sister held her rehearsal dinner here and it was absolutely stunning. From the cocktail hour in the main courtyard, to ending our meal full of memories; it was a spectacular evening. I fell in love with the chartreuse window coverings in contrast with the beautiful bougainvilleas. The cocktail servers were very fun and the seating was spread out nicely.
We then walked down the precious vine covered walk way to the dining area. The lighting in the trees and the beautiful tables took my breath away. Everything was so nicely done. We had a night full of laughs - ordering shots for the other tables in our group and the waitstaff really mixed in well with our group. The food was, of course, plated beautifully.
A night full of memories.

Yelp
Gorgeous!!!
I love this place!! Mainly for it for the views. And the views they have. So beautiful. I mean positano already is so beautiful. Panoramic views from every great spot. Every street corner! Unless you're in the tiny alley!!!
This is located on your way to the port. Half way down! Easier to come from the boat then cars. The climb!!
But the property!! The rooms are pricey but gorgeous. I've stayed in a villa on my last visit here: it was like a B&B ~ Italian style. Much higher on the hill and barely made it to the water! This was half way!! And right before all the gorgeous little blue and white shops! And the church!! And of course the beach!!
The patio is my favorite part! Would've loved a bigger pool though. But the views from the pool! The views are tanti belissima!! Too bad I couldn't stay longer!!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel in Positano, Italy. If you are looking for an authentic Italian stay on the Almafi coast, then you found it. Located right in the heart of Positano. Travel down the cobblestone street of Via Dei Mulini to the beautiful Positano beach (Spiaggia Grande) Just steps away from restaurants, shops and one-of-a-kind boutiques. Enjoy the sound of the tide against the rocks, the bells of Santa Maria Assunta and the amazing view of the mountains. Wait until night time and the view will take your breath away. You can also hop a quick ferry ride to Capri from the beach in Positano. While at Grand Marina (harbor area where the ferry drops off for Capri) don't miss the Blue Grotto and take the funicular from the harbor up to to Italy's Rodeo Drive in the heart of Capri. Perfect place to stay.

Yelp
Stayed at this Hotel in the center of Positano
Fantastic location. Staff very good. Rose at front desk was extremely helpful in planning an excursion to the nearby towns for a half day. Clean. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Four night stay and it was amazing. We had a suite which was ideal for our family as it gave us extra space. Even had a small kitchen. This is an older hotel but well kept up and definitely had the charm factor. Beautiful patio bar, restaurant and pool area. The hotel is also centrally located so you can get to everything in a short walk. Although centrally located it offers a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the town. Service here is outstanding. Front desk speaks English and was extremely helpful with their recommendations and making reservations. The hotels offers guests a boat trip on the bay which we took advantage of and was wonderful. Great perspective on Positano from the water.
My only suggestion for the hotel would be for softer sheets.

Yelp
One word, fantastic! This was the first visit for my wife and I. The hotel selection was right on. In the center of shopping and sites.
The property was beautiful with blooming flowers and fruit trees. The path to the pool area has lemon trees on the left and a garden for the chef on the right.
We had the partial garden/sea-view room that overlooked the church. The morning views was spectacular.
The breakfast area was in the main courtyard with many options. This was included with the room price.
The staff was outstanding and offer assistance in dinner recommendations and transportation advice.
We hate to leave, but will return.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel, although we didn't stay there, we enjoyed a cocktail on their beautiful patio courtyard. As an Elite Yelper, I felt I needed to share our experience at this lovely and picturesque place in Positano.
Cocktails are a bit expensive but remember you are paying for a fantastic oasis away from the crowds that are meandering through the tiny pathways that lead to the beach. At the Palazzo you will be transcended in time and enjoy the beautiful Flora and Fauna that Positano is known for. Gorgeous bougainvillea traipsing from all balconies and pergolas. Brilliant colors that appear to be painted on the climbing wood vines! And the view to the Mediterranean is breathtaking! This courtyard was one of the most memorable places we visited in Positano and I felt it was necessary to share this respite with my fellow Yelpers!

Yelp
This a review for the restaurant. We had previous reservations at another place for our last night @ Positano, but we realized that transportation was difficult and we had to walk a lot. Finally, We got reservations @ Murat the same day, when they open @ 7:30 pm. We arrived few minutes before and doors were close and staff were reviewing the menu. Finally when they opened the doors for us, the feeling was like the staff at the Titanic movie, welcoming us. We got a beautiful table, nice decor, candles at the terrace. The bells from the close church were ringing.... memorable!
Food was amazing, wine list and the service perfect. What a way to treasure memories in Positano, bravo!!

Yelp
My daughter chose this gorgeous hotel to stay for her birthday week in Positano. We strolled down to the beautiful garden area and marveled at all the lush lemon trees and herbs. The complimentary breakfast was so good with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries and other breakfast foods. The service here at this hotel is really wonderful and extremely attentive. Only can I compare it to Japan in service. We had her birthday dinner at the hotel restaurant and drank cocktails (me a cosmopolitan) and my daughter had the strawberry Moscow Mule. Excellent food, wine and drinks. I had the linguine with lobster and my daughter had the beef sirloin paired with delicious wine from the region. If you want a really comfortable plush place to enjoy Positano in the heart of all the shopping then this is the place!!

Yelp
We were treated like royalties! Amazing food and service. THE BEST PLACE to stay in this spectacular town. Very accessible to everything. Clean room, towels and air conditioning that really works!
The staff are very friendly, helpful , attentive and knowledgeable about the hotel.
Take advantage of the breakfast. It's one of the best breakfast buffet I've ever seen. They have their own garden for their produce ...tomatoes are very tasty...I can eat the whole thing!
We stayed at room #5 and it has the best location.
They have the best hotel grounds...or maybe the largest! Which is very rare in Positano.
Lots of areas to hang out ...the pool is also nice and relaxing.
We are definitely going back to Positano and WE ARE STAYING AT THIS HOTEL ! This is our second home.
Samantha C.
Yelp
This hotel is spectacular! You know when you're staying in a nice hotel when every person that walks by it insists on taking a photo of the entry. There's a nice pool, with plenty of chairs for guests to enjoy, which isn't that common for positano since the town is build on a cliff. The beach is a short walk away if you prefer the sea. Rooms are beautiful, free breakfast is included and it's delicious, and the staff is so sweet. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to positano.
GandD G.
Yelp
Although the smoked swordfish and caprese appy was delightful the rest fell very flat.... the main waiter was extremely rude on so many levels. We felt as though we had done something wrong.... it's very upscale And not quite the "Italian" experience we were looking for. -3

Yelp
This place was heaven on earth. The location couldn't be beat. It was towards the bottom of the hill, which was the ideal location in town. The view from our balcony was of the gorgeous lemon trees outside our room and the city above. The pool was also a lovely plus. It was a great place to get away from the bustle and just relax.
What set this place apart was the service. Every thing that we needed was taken care of. We didn't touch a bag while we were there. The concierge gave incredible recommendations and made reservations for us. She also set up massages for us at the hotel and arranged transfers to and from Naples. I highly applaud her services, and I wish I had gotten her name!
The room itself was also very nice and a lot more spacious than I would have imagined. As mentioned, we had a beautiful balcony, a king bed (and a single bed?), and a huge bathroom with a tub.
Also, everything just smelled SO good. Honeysuckle and lemons were everywhere and permeated the place with an amazing aroma.
The Hotel Murat far exceeded my expectations and I would not consider staying elsewhere on a return trip.
Don B.
Yelp
We have been visiting Positano for years and although we do not stay here we have eaten at the gardens restaurant several times. As others have mentioned the views are breathtaking. The Gardens has a nice menu, something for everyone. The food is really good, the service is excellent and they have a decent selection of wines. We have eaten there may times for lunch and have never been disappointed

Yelp
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!
What a beautiful Hotel, Spectacular Staff and Superb Care!!!
My Husband and I spent 10 glorious days at Palazzo Murat for our Honeymoon. I agree with all other stellar reviews and am grateful we chose PM for our entire stay. I will definitely go back and recommend this Hotel to anyone looking to have a wonderful Hotel experience in Positano, Italy.
Shlz K.
Yelp
Loved this hotel. Stayed here for my honeymoon; price on point, room was awesome, so lovely! Would stay here again!
Jennifer G.
Yelp
Superb hotel with great views from superior room.
Rooms are excellent with fabulous views over the town and duomo. Beautiful terraces to sit and have cocktails on.
Staff are exceptional; took care of all inquiries and bookings with no issues whatsoever.
Breakfast is very good, with many selections.. Maybe a little too much cake! ;-) ... a little more fruit would have been nice as its a bit early in the day for chocolate cake! :-)
Gardens are beautifully maintained.
Not at all pretentious, which it could easily be... We loved it :-)
Would HIGHLY recommend - world class hotel. Could not fault it.
Robert W.
Yelp
Best hotel in Positano!
We stayed at a hotel on the beach that was supposed to be great but the Palazzo was beyond expectations. The staff was very responsive, the rooms were large and the overall experience was excellent. We highly recommended the Hotel Palazzo!
Robyn S.
Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Clean rooms, lovely staff, very helpful and very attentive. They made all our reservations, gave us a free upgrade (of course based on availability), and helped us plan out any trips we wanted to take. The grounds are stunning, close proximity to the beach and beautiful rooms. The cleaning staff really tidied up our room for us (I couldn't believe it). I'm not sure I understand the noise complaint in another review that was posted - this has to do with who was here at the same time because I found it to be very peaceful. I highly recommend this hotel :)
P C.
Yelp
Everything from the pool, breakfast, restaurant, rooms, and courtyard is 5 star. If you're staying there, take advantage of the free boat ride along the entire amalfi coast - it's to die for!
AA R.
Yelp
I will just say everything was great couldnt ask for more EXCEPT! THE NOISE....OMG do not stay here if you are looking to relax in peace and quite. The bar in the court yard having to listen to every tourists and guest. OMG! the kitchen staff in the kitchen banging pots and pans around all hours from morning til night.....the street noise from the mass of tourist walking the the main drag to the beach, the trash collectors at 6am, the school across the way and kids screaming while playing. I can go on and on...you have been warned!
Alex S.
Yelp
Incredible place. Literally every aspect of your stay is perfect here. The rooms are amazing, the hotel is beautiful, the front desk is helpful (from making reservations to making hair appointments), and the service is top notch. Also, the breakfast is amazing. We cannot wait to come back to Positano and stay in the Polazzo Murat again.
Ali S.
Yelp
Horrible customer service. Palazzo Murat ruined my honeymoon.
