We booked a room for the day to have a shower and relax before our flight that evening.
Firstly, the room key didn’t work. After going back downstairs to get it checked, the man on reception said “it does work” rather than believing us and helping. He then came to the room, realised the room key was not working and then gave us a key to lock the door.
The air con was not working. The room smelt like it had been sprayed with chemicals. It was so bad, we had to sit outside in the heat because it was overwhelming.
We asked if the air con could be checked and the lady at reception said it’s working, it’s 26 degrees in the room. We explained that we had set it to 19 degrees on the aircon panel and it wasn’t working. The lady said she would get someone to fix it but after waiting an hour in the reception area, we went back to the room and it wasn’t working still very very hot, nobody had fixed it.
We then went to the bar because we couldn't sit inside the room we had paid for because it was hot, smelt like chemicals and was awful.
We should have just gone straight to the airport rather than wasting our money on having to sit inside reception of the hotel. At least at the airport we would have had lounge access, free showers and no hassle.
The staff on reception were extremely rude, offering no discount at checkout and argued with us about any sort of discount. They then commented that we could walk to the airport in the heat if we didn’t pay for the food we had (£41) which is what we would have expected to be compensated as we were unable to use the room we wanted to use. The room was £93 for the day, we COULD NOT USE IT!
Bad experience all round for a very short stay.
