I’ve stayed at Hotel Park City before — during ski season — and genuinely enjoyed my prior visit, which makes this most recent stay all the more disappointing. As a Titanium Elite member who booked two rooms, I expected the consistent service and recognition that Marriott advertises across its brands, including Autograph Collection. Unfortunately, several aspects fell far short:
- Elite breakfast benefit was denied at check-in, with staff (misleadingly or incorrectly) stating it didn’t apply “off season” because they're a franchise property. That’s simply not how Bonvoy works — Autograph Collection properties are obligated to honor benefits year-round. We were too tired to argue.
- Late checkout was initially refused, and only after some back and forth was it extended to 1 PM — still short of the 4 PM benefit that is advertised.
- No upgrade was offered or even discussed, despite availability showing online at check-in. Normally wouldn't care but after other service shortcomings, this becomes a more obvious complaint.
Room service breakfast was very underwhelming: the egg dishes were rubbery, French toast was mediocre, and even the sourdough toast ordered as a side was a disappointing store bought variety. The pancake was ok but forgettable. Not the quality you would expect from a property that advertises a premium food experience.
That said, there are positives: the rooms were clean, the property itself is attractive, and the spa and amenities are very good (though not necessarily best-in-class for the Park City area).
This stay was a sharp contrast to my previous positive visit and maybe reflects an unfortunate decline in service consistency and staff training. The Autograph Collection is supposed to blend independent charm with Marriott standards — to me, it felt like the property seems to want the Marriott affiliation without consistently honoring its obligations.
For travelers considering Park City:
If you want a property that honors Marriott elite benefits reliably, I’ve had consistently excellent experiences at St. Regis Deer Valley.
If you’re open to trying non-Marriott options, both Pendry Park City and Waldorf Astoria Park City are excellent alternatives and may offer a better luxury experience overall.
