Hotel Parque México

"How did it strike you on arrival? If the bright blue façade didn't tip you off that this place has pizzaz, take note of the opulent and inviting entrance–complete with Art Deco-style doors, blue-and-white tiled floors, and stained-glass windows. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Expect a crowd of thirty-something young professional couples from the U.S. and Europe who are ready to explore the city. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The rooms are all suites, set around a two-story inner courtyard, with bright, street-art-style murals covering the walls. Each room has a kitchenette and country-cottage-chic interiors. There are no TVs, but who has time for the Kardashians when there's so much to see and do? We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds are Goldilocks-approved and there is a selection of pillows, from hypoallergenic to memory foam. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Sorry tub lovers: The bathrooms only have showers. But the solid water pressure (impressive for a hotel in the middle of one of the world's most populated cities) certainly makes up for it. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free and works well throughout the hotel. Room service: Worth it?There's no room service, but guests can sit in at the on-site restaurant (open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.). The menu is a mix of Mexican and international dishes and there's live music on the terrace on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The terrace is a perfectly low-lit, atmospheric spot to enjoy a cocktail after a day of sightseeing. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Breakfast on the terrace with a view of blooming Jacaranda trees—the way every day should start, right? Bottom line: worth it, and why?The location is great, the design is thoughtful, and the vibe is relaxed." - Susannah Rigg

"With its bright blue facade, tiled floors, stained-glass windows, and giant muraled walls, safe to say this boutique hotel doesn't aim to blend into its surroundings. Settle into your cottage-chic suite, fronting an interior courtyard and covered in lush foliage. Then head up to the rooftop terrace to dine on modern Mexican cuisine beneath romantic twinkle lights—if you're lucky, you arrived on Tuesday or Saturday, when the live music is on." - Susannah Rigg

Food under cooked it was literally super cold. Couple hours later and I threw everything up. You get a free small entry but at the same time the main course is served. It was cold because there were no heaters and we were told we could only eat a main course which is super weird because there was like no one in the restaurant. Food is expensive compared to local places and this is a casual tourist trap. I recommend to just not go here and completely avoid it. The 3.5 stars should say enough.

This hotel has its pros and cons! I give it a solid 4 and would stay again. I will start with the good things: I love the aesthetic style and how homey it feels - for me that makes a big difference in the comfort of my stay. It’s colorful & artsy & has lots of plants. I actually really enjoyed the open air courtyard and that I could open the windows to air out my room in the evening. My room was very quiet and they offered me a fan for the warm weather. The blackout curtains allowed me to sleep in. I loved the little details of chocolates, tissue packets, water and nuts that were offered. The shampoos were very nice too. I don’t really understand the comments about the noise. I was there on a weekend as well and it was quiet. I couldn’t hear the music from my room and it stopped at a reasonable hour anyway. They also turned all the lights off in the courtyard around midnight for added peace. The location is amazing. It really can’t be beat. Parque Mexico is so fun to hang out, people watch and have such beautiful nature right there. The terrace restaurant at the hotel makes you feel like you’re in a treehouse! There are endless amounts of amazing restaurants and cafes & it’s a very central neighborhood. The cons: the beds are indeed firm but I slept well, the room had some things that could be improved - the bathroom ceiling has spots of mold, the sink in the kitchenette had an “out of service” sign that looks like it had been there for years, the sink was a bit rusted with a nasty yellowing drain plug... I just think for the cost of the hotel that sink either needs to be fixed or removed completely. The floor of my room also had some hairs on it when I got there and I had to request for it to be cleaned - which the staff were very apologetic about and made sure to deep clean it and payed very close attention the rest of my stay. Despite the little areas of improvement, it was overall a very lovely spot and I would recommend it. I wish I took pictures of the room!

The good part was the roof top bar and restaurant. Lovely space and friendly staff. The downside was the room and charges. The kitchenette had a sink but NO water as there was no pipe connected to the sink waste below. There was a Nespresso style coffee maker (wonder how many people tipped their coffee remnants into the sink to have it land in the cabinet below!!) But as I checked out, I was charged for the pods supplied (only 2 a day!!) The charge per pod was more than I paid for a good quality expresso at the cafe down the road! I queried the cost as there was no notification that coffee was "extra", but had to still pay. The door to the room had a gap that was wide enough for someone to actually see in (up close). The only window to get fresh air was to the walkway where other guests and staff passed, and low enough that someone could hop into the room. No mechanical ventilation and no air-conditioning. The large gap in the door provided my only "fresh" air. Only stairs , no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up quite steep stairs. So - only upside to this hotel is the position in Condessa - good! and the roof top bar - good! Charging me $3.90AUS for each coffee pod was my final straw.

DO NOT STAY HERE! All of the hotel rooms face a shared open air hallway exposed to the ridiculous loud music blaring from the top floor restaurant till midnight every night! The best part is that once the music stops, the staff drag furniture across the floor till all hours of the night. And once that ends, it's time for the 5am cleaning crew to start banging on god knows what. This is a great place to visit and is close to the park, but if you're seeking any amount of slumber with your hotel room, this place isn't for you.

I made a reservation months in advance, which was to paid upon arriving, with free cancellation up to 5 days before arriving. I learned within days that they had charged my card, but I could not recognize the charge since they did not use the hotel's name. I contacted the credit card company regarding fraud. I decided to cancel the reservation weeks before the arrival date and was told that I had already paid for the room and that it could not be cancelled. It took weeks with calls and e-mails to resolve the issue and get my money returned. Terrible experience.

Google
A heads up though. The beds are hard. If this is an issue for you like it is for me, this is not a good hotel choice, lovely as it is. Also, you will want to bring a sleep mask and ear plugs.

The rooms and the front staff were amazing. However, the restaurant was such a disappointment. We ordered a fish that was just over cooked not enough flavor which unfortunately came with fries for some reason and those were soggy. The second dish was a tomato based pasta, the flavor on that was somewhat up to par but the pasta tasted and felt old. The service up there were inattentive and over was a huge disappointment for the price we paid. I do highly recommend staying at the hotel though, like a said the front desk was great and the location was great.

Yelp
Was at a nearby restaurant having brunch with my mother who I'm visiting from the USA, i was born in Mexico City but, left when I was young and, I love coming back to Mexico CIty and, exploring restaurants, we love great restaurants, I've been to many around the world in Japan, Paris, London, Germany, I've visited many 5 star hotels and restaurants around the world. Now for my experience here, we walked to the front door and to me it was very odd to have a podium right at the front door entrance, there was a lady there and, I inquired about whether this was a hotel or a restaurant, she said it was both, my mother asked what kind of food and she said Mexican, I wanted to check out the restaurant on the rooftop, and she explained if we were going to consume anything, I explained not now as we just had brunch but, we would be back, she said that none was allowed unless they were consuming...???? I explained to her that we just finished brunch and that we weren't hungry, she said " for security reasons" we aren't allowed to go in....??????????????? SECURITY REASONS???? What do you think I'm going to do?????? Steal a chair? C'mon! This isnt the Mexico I love and know... I have gone to the most exclusive restaurants in Japan, London, Paris, Beverly Hills and, I have never been treated this way!! Something is very very wrong here.!! It seems to me that whoever is running this place has no clue what the word hospitality means... you're in the hospitality industry!!!! This is the complete opposite, not even in New York I was treated this way.., I also saw many other negative reviews similar to this kind of behavior. To the owner of this place..... you have a lot of work to do to earn my business as an international food lover and someone who has been to the best places around the world...

Yelp
Reliable, Dependable, Safe, and very good location. It is not a W, Hilton or huge big box hotel. It is older and more like a large boutique. The common spaces are decorated wonderfully, the restaurant is enjoyable and serves good food & drinks and enjoyable to sit and enjoy friends if consuming and paying for dining or drinks. And the Location is very desirable and close to all Tourist and Local dining and Touring. The cleaning staff and door staff are attentive and provide good consistent service. The rooms are a little dated and there is noise but it is the City and a medium size property that attracts many foreign travelers and it's a Valued Stay for the Cost of a big city and wonderful location. We found it to be safe and a valued part of our stay in Mexico City. It's located in a perfect neighborhood for tourism and is surrounded with restaurants, bars, parks, entertainment and plenty of tourist attractions. *they do not allow guests to visit your room. I do wish that would be a consideration of management. Parking is off premises and ** after editing and updating I did read the reviews of the other travelers. And yes the rooms are small, noise does echo, the rooms are outdated and yes bathrooms are small but that is not a reason to not experience the Charm of the Hotel & Historical Neighborhood for dining, touring, vacationing, and exploring. Too the restaurant is maybe a separate vendor or opportunity to up sale. BUT the price does equal the good service and food and unique dining and drinking experience and I believe the Staff provided very good service & have always been reliable & responsive.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. My 84 year old mother (with a cane) needed to rest on one of two or three empty benches in front of hotel (on a public sidewalk). She was asked to leave. I live in the area and I had heard about the rude staff here. Do not stay here. The Amsterdamme down the street has very friendly staff, so does Izta54, but it is still being remodelled. Both hotels kindly showed us empty rooms so we can recommend them to our friends. Shameful behavior...do not spend your money here. This is not an isolated case.

Yelp
Its a shame I am leaving a 1 star because the decor and the food was actually pretty good, but alas service and honesty are KEY: 1) How do you advertise outside a set breakfast menu 8-12 pm monday-friday for 185 pesos then when we go upstairs to the beautiful terrace at 11:30 on a friday state, "we have no set menu"? 2) The waiter seemed very crabby, wasn't pleasant and dropped the drinks and food at the table before quickly wisking himself away. 3) An extra charge for a coffee, instead of a refill - really? I expressed my concerns downstairs to the manager outside who said something how they should have honored the set menu, and he asked the name of the rude waiter (guess what he never gave me it). Oh well, plenty of brunch spots in the area without the attitude and deception.

Yelp
The hotel itself is quite beautiful however the rooms and restaurant are lacking in a number of areas. Too many other options in the area, so we won't be staying here again. 1: I'm tall, 6'2", the beds are short/small for a tall guy like me. 2: No air conditioning or fans in room. 3: The bathroom has a tiny IKEA type sink with no place to put your own toiletries...frustrating! 4: Pillows are like rocks. 5: Hotel restaurant has terrible snotty service.

Yelp
Go upstairs to the terrace for a meal or a drink! It's gorgeous, especially when the jacarandas are in bloom - it doesn't even feel like you're in the city at all. The decor is very cool; service is very friendly and the food portions are good.

Yelp
Super cute neighborhood! Love the dog park and plaza so much. Not happy with their customer service at all. No early check in, I wasn't able to cancel my reservation after the 1st night because they said they wouldn't be able to fill the room since the hotel was sold out and it's super empty, super over priced, rooms are outdated, no ac, decided to leave a night early since all of my friends had all ready left & they said they could not Reinburst me for the night I would not be spending there. Organized to have a shuttle pick me up the day I was leaving the country and shuttle never showed up they ordered a taxi and it was 30 min late. I can keep going on but there is not point....super disappointed.

Yelp
Aesthetically it's a beautiful creative hotel in a great location right across the park. Conveniently, there's a restaurant upstairs with a great happy hour that also includes a complementary margarita per guest. I did feel the staff at the restaurant could have been more friendly/chatty or even looked a little happier to make the environment more pleasant. My mornings weren't as quiet either-you can hear the staff have full conversations, but after a couple days I was able to zone them out. Lastly, this place advertises loaner bikes; they have them but they are pretty beat up. Overall nice place that left us wishing for more. -J.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast as non-guests of the hotel. We were greeted by the hotel staff warmly. Service staff at breakfast were lovely. Service is a tad slow but sit back and enjoy the breezy terrace! Very charming and tranquil on a weekday morning. Breakfast was delicious and big portions.

Yelp
Second time here and it's just as special as the first. Make sure you come before 7:30.

Yelp
My group decided to visit the restaurant to see a jazz show Friday night. Beautiful location and atmosphere, but the host tried to strong-arm everyone into buying a full course meal when all we wanted was to enjoy the band over some drinks. It was absurd, extremely rude and poorly explained - luckily a kind waiter bailed us out and saved us from throwing away an additional 400 pesos. Would not recommend- the atmosphere isn't worth dealing with the incompetence of the management

Yelp
I stayed at the hotel and also went to the restaurant. It was bad enough that I checked out halfway through my stay and got another place. I highly recommend avoiding it.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel, and fell in love. It is not a tourist trap, and many of the employees speak little to no English. It has a charming vibe, and the attention to detail, local art, and amazing service made us feel right at home. The restaurant is beautiful, nestled in the tree tops, and the breakfast that comes with the room was wonderful.

Yelp
Go upstairs for a drink. They have a nice outside seating area if you are looking for a place to have a few drinks. They also have small plates if you're hungry. It's like you're in a park.

Yelp
I didn't stay at the hotel, I only went to the restaurant and had a terrible experience. It's pricey for what they offer. The owner of the restaurant was there and he was very nice to us -- and this was actually the only good part. The service was suuuuper slow and food was cold. I asked two dishes that took forever to come and both were cold. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
I noticed this space from the street below, and am so happy that we stopped in the next morning. I could not have imagined a better last meal in Mexico. The space is absolutely gorgeous, embedded in the tree tops with a incredible traditional and modern art everywhere. The space gives a wonderful nod to its deco roots but still feels incredibly hip and fresh. Our waiter instantly became our friend. I ordered the chai + cafe, it was the best coffee I've had in Mexico. We also shared the chilaquiles - there are 3 different types on the menu - and they happily swapped out the duck with an egg to accommodate my vegetarianism. I am a huge chilaquiles fan, and can say without hyperbole this was the best I've ever had. It was also very reasonably priced. We loved the space, food and service so much that we will definitely stay in this hotel during our next visit to Mexico. Thank you Carlos, thank you El Parque Mexico!

Yelp
I went to the restaurant last night for the music, but fell in love with the food. Not to mention the ambience, which was divine. My friend and I sampled delicious cocktails, featuring Mexico's signature mezcal, and then started off with the tlacoyitos- a perfectly balanced and scrumptious take on the familiar street food. She ordered the chile relleno, unlike any other we'd ever seen in a delicious mole sauce, with shrimp, plantains and almonds. I had the octopus pasta, which combined the beautiful fresh taste of the ocean with a red sauce - not a typical combination, but one that worked beautifully. The service was extremely friendly and fairly prompt- we experienced none of the negatives discussed in some of the reviews. We had a beautiful evening and highly recommend.
