My honest review from what i experienced:😍💓💗 This hotel is a hidden gem that beautifully preserves the charm of traditional Chinese style. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt rich with culture — intricate wooden carvings, red lanterns, calligraphy art, and elegant lattice windows set the tone. It’s like stepping into a living piece of heritage. The staff were warm and respectful, offering service with grace and genuine hospitality. Tea on arrival was a thoughtful touch, and the quiet courtyards with koi ponds added to the sense of calm and tradition. My room reflected old-world Chinese elegance with polished wooden furniture, silk cushions, and traditional décor, yet still offered the comfort of modern facilities like air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a clean, well-maintained jacuzzi bathroom. What stood out most was the peaceful ambience perfect for slowing down, enjoying a cup of tea, or admiring the detailed craftsmanship throughout the property. It’s more than just a stay; it’s an experience of culture and tradition.

Absolutely amazing old building with charm. The room is very beautiful, with very comfortable bed. It’s nice to spend evenings in the balcony. The night administrator at the reception desk is very friendly, helped us solve all the problems! Many thanks to him. But the man who meets guests during the day is quite the opposite. but we will be happy to return to this wonderful hotel again. definitely.

Loved my stay here. The room is spacious and clean, especially loved the jacuzzi! Staff are all very helpful and friendly, and the location of the hotel is in close proximity to a lot of nice eateries. Highly recommended!

First: there is NO POOL. |Second: there is NO LOUNGE. ||This hotel has both good and not so good elements. The location is great, the rooms are large, and it has character. The air conditioning in the room was good, and there is filtered water available at several locations. The Italian restaurant in the lobby was excellent for lunch and dinner. There is also a spa on-site (independently owned and operated) that was truly outstanding. ||However, it is a bit run down and has some cleanliness issues, especially if you have sensitivities to dust and mold. They did not service our room for two days, and that was after we requested attention. A bit disappointing, but overall an ok stay.

We loved our stay in the Hutton Room. The tiling around the entrance and the stained-glass windows in the rooms are very stylish. Most of the furniture is antique and all of the art work is original. The breakfast is good and the dinner restaurant is amazing - Italian with handmade pasta. The hotel is central to all the fun parts of Georgetown. The whole area is rustic but that is all a part of the world heritage charm 🏯

Convenient location in Georgetown, and the suite was spacious with lovely decor. The hotel has a lot of character, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

After staying here in Aug 2023 we were looking forward to another pleasant stay at this heritage hotel. But I am disappointed to say that it was a terrible experience: non existent housekeeping; broken toilet; blood stains on bed sheet; and door to the room left wide open all day by (presuambly) by the housekeeping.||The worst part was the non flushing toilet. Called reception on the first night about this. They sent someone who seemed to fix it. But by morning it was not working again. Called reception again, sent someone else, said he had fixed it. Then we left hotel to go out but came back again and toilet not flushing again! Called reception, sent someone who said they need to order a part from China to fix it. Asked to transfer to a room where the toilet works but they said all rooms full.||That same night the door had been left wide open after we had locked it in the morning. Called reception who did not seem at all concerned about this breach of security.||The room has nice paintings etc but furniture is old and TV has only one channel. Also seeing blood stain on bed stain on bed sheet does not give nice feeling. Breakfast is like a 2☆ hotel.||Sad to see how much this hotel has declined. Must be better places to stay in Penang. Never again for me.

Beautiful old colonial style rooms with big beds and wooden floorboards pads. Wonderful bathroom with a jacuzzi bath to relax after a day of walking. Location is absolutely fantastic and breakfast pleasant and to suit all palates. Will definitely recommend and stay agin!

A classic Penang experience in a location that can't be beat. The hotel comprises of large hotel rooms and spaces in keeping with Penang architecture. Stylishing appointed, the furnishings tastefully mix an era gone by with modern comforts and design. Hospitible touches such as afternoon tea and wine hour greatly add to the customer experience. A wonderful stay that enhanced my taste of Georgetown and all it has to offer.

Rooms are filled with old Chinese furniture and decor, but bathroom is super modern with jacuzzi and multiple headed shower. Great Breakfast assortment of Malay favorites and Western food. Staff super helpful and friendly. Only downside is that it's a bit of a walk from old town on a hot day, 2km. Grabcar to there is only 2-4rm, and there is a free 11am shuttle to Armenian St. Highly recommend.
