The experience was horrific to say the least for a price of 230 euros total (including night-stay fees). The images on booking.com do not represent reality. To start, the hotel is old, filthy, humid and in a desperate need of renovation. If you stay during winter you will probably not enjoy the beautiful interior because it is winter. I assume you can eat breakfast there only at summer. On a winter stay we ate a blunt breakfast at a very small room. Breakfast was hideous and it looked filthy, cheese, ham and eggs were laying on a tray without any protection. It lacked options, freshness and taste. The rooms are very small, the bed occupied almost the majority of the room. No tv, only one bedside table in a double room and an air conditioner that heat up the room well but it looked like it hardly had any maintenance ever. The rooms are not soundproof at all, you will be woken up at night from noise coming from the other guests. Also, the sheets and the room in general was not all clean. Regarding the state of the bathroom, upon arriving we saw that there was no shampoo whatsoever and the "staff" supplied -with great care- the room with 1 and half toilet paper. It is obvious that they did not bother wasting the left over toilet paper from the previous guests. Now, the "highlight" of our stay was an unpleasant surprise they had in store for us. When we used the towels of the room we observed black and BROWN stains on them. We took them down to the reception where a woman and her colleague showed a complete lack of interest and professionalism. I told them that the cleaniness of the towels is very important for hygienic reasons and for a price of 100 eyros per night this is not at all acceptable. Her unbothered reply was "just leave a review on booking so my manager can see this". To summarize, it was a total rip off for the price and the hotel conditions and mainly the behavior of the staff was abominable and repulsive. Needless to say, i do not recommend it.

Positive: hotel is 500 years old. Beautiful character! The staff are amazing. We love that there’s 24/7 staff available at all times. Old school turn in keys before you leave is so convenient.Location is excellent! Supermarket next door. Close to everything! Negative: ""

If you’re thinking of booking this hotel because the interior design is nice, it’s centrally located, it includes breakfast, and it’s relatively cheap, don’t do it. It’s not worth it. I felt like I couldn’t rest at all in the very small room I had, with zero soundproofing. The sheets and towels weren’t very clean. The elevator is problematic. The breakfast is stale, only the coffee or the cocoa was worth having. If you don’t have standards or other options, it’s not that bad, I guess…

This historic building needs restoration and renovation, it is in very bad condition and needs maintenance. The only way to get to your room in by only one old slow elevator that clients and staff all use. The room’s window opens towards the inside of the hotel with no view or ventilation which makes you hear everything and everyone in their rooms and you get no view whatsoever. There are only 2 lights by the bed so the rest of the room is dark, the bathroom was clean and spacious with bidet, shower and good lights. The so called breakfast was horrible, only 2 type of cheese, ham, clod boiled eggs, 2 type of bread travel sized butter and jam. They keep your room key if you leave the hotel which is extremely weird but we were okay with that because it took away the burden of loosing them. Location is good and near the center The reception man and lady were extremely friendly and professional.

The Peninsular Hotel is located in La Rambla, Barcelona, just a stone's throw from Liceu. I booked a room for 2 people with 2 beds for 4 nights. My room was square with a bathroom in one corner. One of the beds was placed right in front of the bathroom door with a very narrow distance and the other bed was placed under the clothes hanger 😂 I personally didn't mind the size of the room, it was just the layout of the room which was very unique. What was really annoying was that there was no lighting in this room, only a dim night light above the headboard, I don't know how many watts the lamp was, in fact I couldn't see anything even though the light was on. Not only inside the room, outside the room was even darker, to reach my room, I had to turn on the flashlight from my cell phone. If you stay here it's a good idea to bring your own toiletries, during my 4 night stay I only got 3 very small bars of soap and a towel, floormats are only available on the first day, the rest you have to ask for with a very high level of patience. The only plus point for this hotel is that it provides breakfast which is quite filling, and only for eating on the spot, there is no simple breakfast provided for take away if you are catching an early morning flight The price you pay at this hotel is very high, not worth what you get. It's best to check out several hotels located on the same street, which are very close by; they offer much lower prices with much better room conditions.

Although we did not stay here, we asked for directions and some tips for finding a Flamenco Show. The staff was absolutely so kind, so patient and professional. We would consider staying here on our next trip just because the concierge was so kind to us. He truly embodies what Hospitality is. A big thank you to Hotel Peninsula for your kindness to strangers.

The rooms were cleanish however there was blood on a pillow in the wardrobe and we came across lots of cockroaches in our room. The breakfast wasnt the best but it’s good for it being included in the price. We really enjoyed they air conditioning as it was so hot and the hotel is in a good location very close to many things easy to walk to

Anyone who gives this hotel a bad review didn’t read the previous reviews. You literally get what you pay for: a very basic room, no facilities and a comically (but free) breakfast. However, it is extremely clean and the staff is super friendly. There is airco in the rooms. I loved staying there and I would definitely return or recommend it to friends. The location is a 10/10 as well. If you want to stay in central Barcelona without breaking the bank: this is the hotel for you.

Yelp
A charming hotel with great staff and a beautiful common area. The rooms are very modest, but very clean -- you couldn't ask for more given the friendly price and amazing location, steps way from mercado de la boqueria + tons of vegan restaurants and bakeries

Yelp
Beautiful, charming hotel - recommended ! This is one of those places that really makes you feel like you've chosen the right hotel to stay for your weekend. It's calm, spacious and its interior patio with hanging plants gives it a fantastic charm. Our son (20 months) loved running around the patio in the morning. Add to this the friendly reception and it adds up to a wonderful experience. Any drawbacks ? Maybe the fact that there were no baby bed, and that the hot water in the shower had some interruptions.
