Annette was a great personality and we enjoyed every minute with her. She was great with suggestions and also made sure anything we needed was solved. Now, I love local hotel stays. If you are looking for elevators and the spacious nature of American hotels, don't stay here. HOWEVER - this hotel was a great experience for us. We stayed with our son in a three people space. We loved the view of Sacred Largo Argentina as well as the great location to walk to everything. We only took a cab once to a tour near Vatican but mainly cause it was early. Stay here- you won't regret one second. We called it 'home" by the second day. Which is good when your 12 year old is into the experience. We're better as a family for staying there during our vacay to Rome. Thank you Annette - you are such a wonderful person!

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Barrett. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. They took the time to show us around our room, explain everything clearly, and made sure we felt completely comfortable. The room was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. The location is also perfect for exploring the area. I would absolutely stay here again — highly recommend!

Overhead a Norwegian kid saying "this hotel feels like a museum", and I can't describe it any better! It's one of my absolute favorite hotels that I've ever been to. Views overlooking the Largo di Argentina are unique, and the varieties of options available in the mini fridge was unmatchable. The people in the reception were all friendly and helpful. Would love to stay here again on my next visit to Rome.

BIGGEST SCAM!!! ALERT DON’T BOOK. The rooms are too small and the hotel starts 2nd floor onwards. If you have too much luggage, do not even think of staying here. We paid a lot for the smallest room possible in Italy and this hotel ruined our experience overall. It’s better to stay on streets than stay in a room like this. I am not sure how they have high rating. THIS HOTEL SUCKS!!!!

Magical! Annette, at the front desk, made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, after the long journey from home. The room decoration is perfect for Rome. The abundance of breakfast and snack foods was fun to explore. The location is amazing - truly a 7 minute slow walk to the Pantheon and busses and a taxi stand right outside the door. Great restaurant next door, and a grocery a block away. An excellent window blocked out all noise when closed; and we the street with the bus stops, etc. This hotel is for those who enjoy exploring. It is modern, but it is not Americanized. There's no elevator, and the bathroom, while having excellent water pressure and being very pretty, has a small shower and few places to set toiletries. If you want a Hilton look elsewhere. If you have an open mind and want to have an awesome time, stay here!!!

We had yet another wonderful stay at the Hotel Barrett. Dear Alberto, always at the service, polite, smiling, and eager to help. The hotel features friendly staff, a prime location, and baroque-style rooms that are both nice and cosy. We have become regular guests. I can't imagine staying in Rome without the Hotel Barrett.

Excellent Location, welcoming staff and small but very clean room, comfortable sleep.|Breakfast in the room was different you could make it your on way,and if you leaving early from hotel you can you could also have to take it with you.Plenty of choices from coffee, fruits, drinks, all kind of things. What we love and enjoyed was having back and foot massager and foot spa in the room, which we never come across from all hotels we stayed in all over the world. We also felt welcomed on our arrival by Alberto from the reception another great experience staying in Hotel Barrett.Location was excellent and great to use to wonder around Rome just close to hotel. And if you are coming and going to Termini you could take Bus 40 and 64 this is also stopping close hotel. There are few restaurants near to hotel and we enjoyed eating there they bake the Pizza from traditional stone bake oven (forgot the name but it is close to corner of main road)Planning our next trip again to Rome and can’t wait to go back and stay at Hotel Barrett it was stressful but with the help of staff from hotel take the stress away.|Slightly noisy but did not bother us the window from our room was double glazed.

Google
very quirky "spa" hotel the room containing a range of massage machines and a jacuzzi shower. although the room was small it was decorated al la mode with wall statues busts and a tiered ceiling with original view of roof beams . The breakfast selection in fridge and on a shelf was an impressive selection and the coffee machine in the room. located across from a current ancient excavation and 6 mins walk to Pantheon - location was great if a bit noisy at night for light sleepers.

Yelp
Pros: Nice staff, great location in close proximity to many of the major sites our driver said this was one of the best locations you can be in) and the fully stocked mini fridge full of food (even some Prosecco and Peroni!) was appreciated. Beds were comfy and very unique decor used throughout the hotel! It's a hoot! Loved the included slippers and quality toiletries. Cons: Bc this is not your typical modern hotel, there is no elevator and there are about 5 flights of stairs to get to your room. They do have porters who help (thank God!). Could have used more direction on how to leave the gated entrance. The wifi names changed between morning and night and was confusing. Could have been better if they left a sheet of detailed instructions in the room. There was also a pervasive nasty smell from the bathroom (like festering urine). I've noticed this in other European hotel bathrooms. It's likely to do with their old plumbing - but it bothered me :/

Yelp
I lost my wallet at the property and the response was less than appealing. They did not seem to care much. It would have been nice if they showed a little compassion knowing that all my id and cc info was GONE. Not a great way to start a trip.

Yelp
Walking up and down 70 steps to get to our room, and after walking all over Rome for just two days, we were pretty wore out; however, the staff here at Barrett took pretty good care of us as they were as accommodating as possible. The stairs got old really fast. I only give these stars because we bought a queen size bed for three nights; but upon check in, were told that we had a "double room" for the first two nights that contained a double bed and a twin bed crammed into the already very tight spaces offered here at this wood-framed Italian Roman relic. We were given a queen bed and room for the last night of our stay. The staff moved our belongings but didn't have it completed upon our return to the room following another day of walking only to delay us another 30 minutes when they had 7 hours to accomplish the task. We were looking forward to taking our shoes off and take an afternoon nap before heading out again in the early Roman evening. Way too much superfluous stuff in these rooms apparently attempting to cater to those first-time visitors trekking through the cobblestone streets and gentle rolling hills of this very old World Capitol. We saw many tourists checking the bandages they were using to care for their blisters. The rooms here had electric foot and back messaging machines and a foot therapy soaker yet had barely enough room to walk around the old furniture items (stubbed toes and banged knees multiple times) or place anything such as a toothbrush or any two items on the bathroom sink. There just isn't enough room for all the crap in the rooms. Get rid of some of the stuff!!! Our first room had a creepy statue staring at us above the bed. To go with all I the extra stuff in the rooms are many artistic sculptures, valences, wallpaper and an assortment of electrical worries due to the lack of sufficient plugs for all of the electronics . . . but there was a hot dog maker!!! The staff was nice. The breakfast was simple but fresh daily. Coffee in the rooms is abundant as is all of the food treats in the room. Very well stocked and equipped room, but just no place to walk and put your own personal belongings. Location is exceptional for walking around all I the sights, shopping and eating. The immediate neighborhood seems safe and there are plenty of cafes, liquor stores and even a couple of slot machines in he nearby patasiere that paid handsomely after just a couple of coins. We returned to Rome at the end of our trip but decided to try something else for an overnighted. This hotel was ok but just didn't strike us as worthy of a return when there is so much to chose from. Yelp
The customer service here is impeccable. The owner is very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable of everything that is going on in Rome. He went above and beyond for my boyfriend and I during our stay. The room we stayed in was gorgeous. There was so much thought and detail put into its decor. If I could give this hotel 100 stars I would!

Yelp
We had a great time in Rome and enjoyed staying at Pensione Barrett. We flew over for a wedding and took over most of the hotel. The rooms are small but kitchy, fun and unique. We loved the location and helpful staff.

Yelp
I chose Pensione Barrett because I thought it was a great location for a good price, but our stay turned out to be perhaps the most phenomenal experience I've ever had at a place run by a kind, generous couple. I would definitely stay here again or and I highly recommend it to others. Michele and Cinzia Sacco are so warm and welcoming, and they did more for us than any hotel, motel, or hostel we've ever stayed in. I will miss this cute couple, and how every time we said, "Thank you" they would enthusiastically respond with "Thank you to YOU!" When you first arrive upstairs at Pensione Barrett, you will be overwhelmed by how much there is in the lobby - paintings, statues, furniture. This is a signature mark left by Michele and Cinzia that you'll notice in the hotel rooms as well. We arrived a bit early, but Cinzia sent the maid to the room and told us it would be ready in about 30 minutes. During that time, Michele came out to the lobby and asked if we had made our plans yet for visiting Rome. With a warm and hearty smile, he said, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you!" He brought with him about 10 handouts that he made, as well as a map of Rome. He patiently explained to us that many people come to Rome and if they only see the touristy sites, they may miss some of the less-famous, but still incredibly profound and evocative places that he and his wife love. Around each and every historical area, e.g. the Coliseum, the Spanish Steps, St Peter's Cathedral, he lists out about 4-5 additional places he would recommend that you and what you can expect to see. He also had a list of his favorite restaurants around each area -- which was very helpful, as he has good taste! After Michele's quick review of top things he would see in Rome (aside from the famous, touristy sites), we checked into our room. The room was decorated really beautifully, with columns, statues, and paintings. It took me several minutes to look around the room. Our room was completely packed -- aside from a desk/chair, fridge, an espresso maker, a pants press, a water heater, it even had 2 foot massagers, a toaster oven, a bidet, a shower hydromassage and a hot dog toaster? The fridge was completely stocked with anything I would've ever wanted in a mini-fridge. Just like I mentioned with the lobby, it was so fully of stuff, I almost felt like it was too much. However, as we walked around Rome for 3 days, we came to love the foot massagers, and the hydro massage in the shower. I don't think this hotel room could've been missing anything. On the other hand, it was a little hard to walk around sometimes because there was so much stuff. I don't know if it was because we got along well with Michele, or if he does this for all guests, but he surprised us by bringing a bottle of wine for our first night. We went in September, and first night I didn't order AC, but I did for the latter 2 nights. At night the street is a little noisy, and so I had to close the window to sleep. For our last night, I had asked Michele if he could prepare a nice bouquet of roses and a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice as a surprise. He was very nice and willing to help me, and executed my plan perfectly. On our last morning, I should've checked out earlier, but I was too busy packing. However, Michele and Cinzia graciously woke up and helped us check out as quickly as they could so we could catch our morning train. However, before we left, Michele gave us another pleasant surprise - a departure gift! Michele gave us a DVD of the opera Tosca, based in Rome, and starring Placido Domingo, of the famous 3 tenors! I could've believe that he was giving us a gift, after all that they had done from beginning to end. With a warm smile, and humble bow, they said thank you for staying at our hotel, please remember you always have a home here in Rome. For our parting goodbye, we said, "Thank you so much!!" and in their kind, humble, and bubbly way, they said, "Thank you to YOU!" There are some people you will never forget, and some memories that last a lifetime. Thank you, Michele and Cinzia, for helping us creating a memory that will last a lifetime.
