Hotel Evaluation: Advantages and Positive Aspects of My Stay
This evaluation focuses on the advantages and positive elements of my stay at the hotel.
Over the years, I’ve stayed in several 5-star hotels in southern Greece during the summer period. It’s always easy to spot minor issues I don’t particularly enjoy (e.g., no forest nearby for hiking, no Formula 1 racing circuit, etc.), but I tend to prioritize the more significant elements when deciding where to go. I must say I don’t prefer Bed and Breakfast options, as hotels offer more services and amenities. You can always raise concerns about things you don’t like, and there’s a responsible person available 24/7.
I stayed at the hotel for six days. Here are the highlights:
1. Every room has a clear view of Kypri Bay, as the hotel is situated on a small cliff.
2. After descending the stairs (the number depends on your room), you cross a road, go down a few more steps, and arrive at a sandy beach.
3. The water is crystal clear. Using a snorkel mask, I observed visibility of over 30 yards underwater, something not many seas offer.
4. Small fish can be found at the rocky end of the bay. They’re about 7–8 inches long, typical Greek species that are edible (if you can catch them).
5. On the beach, there are nine complimentary umbrellas provided by the hotel for free. A nearby beach bar offers more comfortable seating, which you can rent for €30 for the entire day. Also, fast food is served.
6. On the opposite side of the bay, approximately a quarter of a mile away, there’s another bar where you can rent windsurfing boards, canoes, or enjoy other water sports.
7. Typical weather conditions include sunny skies (UV protection is essential, as the sun can be intense), temperatures between 26°C and 29°C, and strong north winds—common across the beaches of western Andros Island. The advantage is that the north wind runs almost parallel to the shoreline, so it doesn’t create high waves. You can swim safely and enjoy water sports. The water is shallow near the shore, and you need to go quite far out for deeper areas. Only the south wind affects the beach, but it’s rare during summer.
8. Regarding the hotel itself:
• There’s a parking area behind the hotel for guests with cars, and a bus stop on the nearby road.
• The hotel is very clean.
• Housekeeping services are excellent.
• Breakfast is self-served and satisfying, available from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., with a view of the bay.
• The staff are helpful and courteous.
• There’s a quiet bar near the reception in the evening (no loud music, just drinks), and a livelier bar near the small pool during the day (though with such clear sea water, the small pool is hardly necessary).
• A seating area with sea views is located near the reception.
• If you prefer not to visit tavernas in Kypri or Agios Petros, there’s an Italian restaurant open from 14:00 to 23:00. You can have lunch or dine there with a sea view or order food to your room (delivery is free of charge) and enjoy it on your balcony overlooking the bay.
• The hotel welcomes a diverse mix of guests—families with children, elderly visitors, couples, and more—mostly from Europe, including Greece.
• Pet-friendly.
• You can spend your entire stay in the area or rent a car to explore the island, using the hotel as a safe and comfortable base.
Conclusion and Overall Rating: Excellent.
