(Tried to leave a review on Booking as my reservation was made through that but too much time had passed so I’m doing it here)
A lovely hotel, recently renovated and in an excellent location. Relatively quiet and plenty of food options nearby.
The room was small but that’s Paris for you! The bathroom sink was dreadful as the tap was too big for the sink so you just ended up getting water everywhere which was most inconvenient. Otherwise the bathroom was an excellent size. Room cleaned daily and bed was comfy. Staff friendly and helpful (I really appreciate your linguistic capabilities and opening the door for me when I needed it!).
A downside was the lack of storage space. 2 people would have struggled with their belongings in the room. Also, having to walk through the breakfast room to leave the hotel as the lovely main door was no longer in use was a bit awkward.
As I was travelling alone, I came to dislike the key situation immensely. Whilst I did enjoy not having to carry an unusually large hotel key around Paris, handing in and picking up the key every time I left or returned was irritating. Whilst the staff were generally lovely, I did have a bad experience with a man on the front desk one evening and, given that he knew my room number from having to request the key from him, I felt unsafe and there was no one else to contact but him overnight. On this topic, I reported the issue to the front desk the next day (thank you for the cup of tea Ian you are a lovely human) and it was dealt with relatively quickly. However, contact with the managers who weren’t on site was poor in the following days and weeks and I still don’t know how the issue resolved as they never contacted me again despite my follow up email!
Overall, the hotel was lovely and I would stay there again but management needs to improve their contact with guests who report important issues which may affect or already have affected other guests or staff.
