Hotel Pestalozzi

We stayed on the top floor of the Hotel Pestalozzi for New Year’s Eve, and it was unforgettable. The view from the top is absolutely spectacular—we had a front-row seat to the fireworks over Lugano! While the hotel has a charming, 'lost in the 90s' nostalgic feel, it is impeccably clean and very well-maintained. The staff truly makes the experience; the personal service was amazing—warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. The food was also quite decent and convenient. If you’re looking for a tidy, welcoming spot with the best views in the city, this is it. We loved our stay!"

I reserved a single room for a night as I decided to stop by Lugano. The single room was a lot bigger than what booking.com says, so the bathroom, both renewed recently and spotless cleaned. Probably the best location in town. I parked my car in the underground parking garage , 2 min walk away which cost 30 CHF a day. Buffet breakfast was varied and staff really nice. Overall very positive, I would stay again :)

I spent one night here. The staff at the reception were very helpful for the check-in and providing information. Location is very good, 10 minutes walk from the station and 2 minutes to the lake. The room was very basic but you get everything you need. Very quiet during the night. The breakfast was good and the waitress very kind. Great price value. If you're looking for something basic but well situated, this is definitely an excellent option.

Great hotel in the middle of the city. Easy to walk around. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff seemed to speak every language and they were very kind and helpful. I really appreciated the added bonus of having our city bus tickets taken care of and included in the price.

My husband and I have been staying at the Pestalozzi on our visits to Lugano since 2003. We even chose it for our honeymoon twenty years ago, which says it all!||This was our ninth visit, and it was a delight as always. Mrs Fadani-Eidenberger and her team provide an exceptionally warm welcome, making us feel completely at home.||The staff on the reception are helpful, warm and knowledgeable, with multi-language skills. ||The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Not long ago they were refurbished to a high standard, with plenty of storage space. They are kept immaculately clean by the friendly cleaning staff. Comfortable beds and the quiet setting mean a good night's sleep is guaranteed. ||The free Wi-Fi works seamlessly. ||We enjoyed eating in the restaurant, tucking into the delicious, varied menu with its seasonal and local dishes, accompanied by tasty local wines. The staff there, too, were lovely: friendly and efficient.||We always appreciate the convenient central location of the Pestalozzi. It’s a minute or two from the lake and five minutes' walk from the bus station and shops in the centre of town. The train station is about quarter of an hour from the hotel, using the funicular in the town centre. Or there's a bus to the station from outside the hotel. All very convenient, especially as you're given a free bus-pass on arrival.||We have recommended this hotel to friends, and they enjoyed their stay as much as we always do. ||We confidently give the Pestalozzi 5 stars, and look forward to our next visit!

This hotel is located in downtown Lugano, close to main bus terminal and city beach and pool complex. It is nice, cozy with very friendly staff. It provides a very nice breakfast. We also tried food for dinner and it was good with prices a bit lower than in restaurants along the lakeshore. The rooms are on smaller size and that applies on the beds, as well. There is no fridge in the room, but there is a safe deposit box. AC in our room was making short grinding noises after being switched off and that was addressed but not completely fixed. We were told that hotel is in the process of renovation and new AC's will be installed soon. All in all we had pleasant stay and enjoyed the closeness of this hotel to major attractions.

This hotel is comfortable and in an excellent location in the centre of Lugano , opposite the lake, close to the designer shops and all the attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reception staff spoke a number of European languages. The rooms were clean and fairly basic , though our balcony had lovely views over looking the lake. The only criticism I have was the pillows , which were rather lumpy.

The hotel is situated near the beautiful lake di Lugano, so you can easily reach it on foot. The building is in good shape, kept in shape by the owners. The room was relatively small (we had 3 beds) and was on the top floor of the hotel. The beds were comfortable, the windows were good at insulating the noise, so it was quiet. The bad on the other hand was very small and tight. It looked so as it had been taken out of the room. We had air conditioning, but the unit itself had seen better days. It was relatively old and dusty. The breakfast was OK, but it could do with a little more variety. There were ham and cheese. Also yogurt and jams. The hard boiled eggs were for some reason cold. The parking situation is difficult. They have about 5 parking spots next to the hotel itself. We had luck because there were 2 or 3 spots left. Another solution might be the underground car park jut 100 m away. All in all I would expect more for the price.
