Where to Stay in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"Housed in a 19th‑century building just steps from Puerta del Sol, this 64‑room property feels like a bargain for its location and amenities; the simple rooms have flatscreen TVs, a desk, hardwood floors, hydro‑massage showers and comfy beds — request a streetside room for a lovely view." - Matthew Kepnes

The 7 Best Hotels in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"Housed in a 19th-century building a few steps from Puerta del Sol, this three-star hotel feels like a bargain for its amenities and central location; the design is minimalist but cozy with warm salmon and peach tones. I appreciated the expansive buffet breakfast that caters to all diets with a wide variety of pastries, cold cuts, and fresh fruit. The soundproofed rooms are compact but cleverly laid out with flatscreen TVs, Wi‑Fi, parquet floors, small desks, and minibars; they’re clean and comfortable though largely undecorated. Because some rooms are windowless while others get plenty of natural light, I recommend booking a streetside room if a view matters. The recently renovated bathrooms have rainfall showers with excellent water pressure." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Great little hotel in the center of a beautiful please and lots of shops and restaurants. Walkable to the Prado and Thyssen museums and Retiro Park. Lovely, helpful people. Tasty breakfast included.

The rooms are comfortable with just the right amount of space to rest and get ready for the next day. The service was excellent friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The location is also convenient, close to everything we needed, stores, restaurants, souvenirs, pastries. We traveled from Florida and truly enjoyed our visit.

I had a great stay at this hotel. A special shout-out to Irene, who kept me informed about changes in my booking — her communication was clear & thoughtful. I truly appreciated the hospitality and will definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Madrid.

The room was small but it had everything you may need, very comfortable beds and sheets. The air conditioning? Splendid. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. We didn’t have breakfast there. I appreciated the silence while sleeping. The location is perfect if you need to be close to Metro (Sol station), shops, and tourist attractions. We stayed at the beginning of June 2025.

my rare Jellycat Plushy was stollen from my room. Once i noticed it was missing a few days later i called the hotel twice, they said they would get back to me and never did. I then emailed them and reached out on the website, again to no avail. Don’t stay here unless u want your stuff stollen from your room.

Great restaurants around Hotel was clean, service 100% good and friendly, room VERY comfortable and nice. Great Wi-Fi I will sray here again in my future trips to Madrid: GREAT hotel for friends traveling together as everything is close

Yelp
This hotel was perfect for our trip to Madrid. The Puerta Del Sol location was central to everything! The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the view of the Main Street from the Balcony precious! The front desk staff was AMAZING!!!

Yelp
Central location to everything in central Madrid. Metro was close by, if not, lots of places were walking accessible. Room was slightly small, and the one assigned to us was all the way around the building. Bed was comfortable enough, but the bathroom was weird - had see through glass doors. Could see everything in the bathroom O_O. Noisy at night, and then because of where we were located, noisy in the morning while the housekeeping staff goes about their day. Expensive and would have rather tried their other location.

Yelp
The air conditioning in our hotel room was broken when we arrived on a hot 90-degree-Fahrenheit day, exhausted from our flight. The woman at the front desk said there was nothing she could do, as maintenance and management were both unavailable (even though it was only 7:30pm) until the following day after we would be checking out. So we were expected to sleep the whole night without air conditioning, despite air conditioning being something advertised on the website and thus something that we explicitly paid for. We were offered no refund, not even a partial one. This kind of behavior for a professional hotel chain is something I have never encountered before. This hotel has a history of broken air conditioning and no one to help resolve the problem, so if you are coming to Madrid during the summer you definitely want to avoid the Petit Palace Puerta del Sol!!

Yelp
Crampt and run down hotel. In our room, AC didn't work properly, the toilet was broken, people were not friendly. Big bummer.

Yelp
The experience my friends and I had at this hotel was awful. We had an additional person, and at the time of check in the desk clerk said nothing to us about the additional person in the room, but the next day ( after we had spent a day and a night at this hotel) we were locked out of our own hotel room with all of our personal belongings in it. Only then were we informed that they were charging us an extra 60 euro a night for that person. It was incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional that we were informed this way. The general manager took advantage of the fact that we were in a foreign country and our belongings were already in the room.

Yelp
Hotel is very clean and in good condition. However, I am very displeased with the customer service. We had originally two people booked for the room, and a third person decided to join. We made no extra requests for anything, but were told that it was a room for only two people. Nothing else. After our first night, we spent the next day sightseeing. We came back unable to access our room, and were told we needed to pay 60€ more for the third person. We were locked out with our stuff inside. We were not told about the charge the previous night. The air conditions also don't work. Several people from other rooms were complaining as well.
