Hotel Piazza Vecchia

We arrived in a taxi along a very narrow street full of pedestrians and deposited just outside a small brown door; easy to miss.|It had been a long journey from San Gimigano by public transport and we were so pleased to see a friendly face welcoming us at check in. This is a traditional former palazzo with character with a limited public area. It is charming.||Our room was comfortable and a good size. Furnished with vintage wooden bedroom furniture which complements the design. Bed had a decent mattrass with good support, certainly not soft, which was ideal.|Bathroom is newly done it seems. Contemporary. The shower can take a while to achieve sufficient water temperature as there are separate hot and cold taps rather than a thermostat. Water pressure is good. Everywhere is very clean.||Obviously no traffic noise here.||Breakfast is a decent quality. Typical Italian for this rating. The coffee is good, so often at breakfast it isn't. ||We enjoyed a very pleasant stay here. Better than the good marking, not quite up to the excellent.

Yes, the title is correct, there are Angels in this hotel running the business.Team leading by Adrianna at reception and Maria at House Keeping , nice young ladies Isabella and Luna at breakfast, perfect team, we thanked them all once again.Nice location,clean ,perfect breakfast.If you have diffuculties to connect the wifi Adriana helps.Water and coffee available in the room.On the day of our departure they arranged a taxi for train. We stayed here for one night and couldn't fault it. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. |Breakfast was a very good buffet with fresh fruits. Very helpful, pleasant staff. Hotel is situated right in the heart of Bergamo , thoroughly recommend this hotel

Flew into Bergamo on late flight, decided to stay in Citta Alta which is stunning, overlooking Bergamo. Hotel organised airport transfer, staff were really helpful & so lovely at check-in. Reception is up a steep flight of steps, but there are lifts up to rooms from reception. Room was a superior twin which was a good size, beds were low but comfortable, great air con & bathroom. Lovely breakfast, couldn’t fault in any way. Citta Alta is stunning, cobbled streets, shops, restaurants, bars, amazing buildings all within 1 minute walk of hotel door. We got upper funicular to castle, views were even more amazing over Bergamo, spent afternoon in a restaurant enjoying the view before returning to collect luggage, hotel booked taxi to station for onward coach to Verona. Lovely hotel, would definitely recommend & hopefully will return. Nothing was a problem for them, they were so willing to help. If you’re flying into Bergamo don’t miss the opportunity to stay and see Citta Alta in this lovely hotel

I stayed with my wife, youngest daughter and dog in two rooms. It's a great location for easy access to the old town and it's restaurants. The finicular railway is five minutes away and is an easy way to visit the lower town. The hotel suited us perfectly and as others have said was clean and offers a great breakfast. For anyone thinking of staying with a dog I found the hotel to be very dog friendly and the other guests the same. We would return for sure.

What a wonderfully atmospheric place this is to stay. The rooms are exquisite and very comfortable. The location is perfect for that older part of the city. Lots of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. |The breakfast included is simple but tasty and adequate. |The hotel staff help is an attitude of nothing is any trouble. |Perfect stay for a 2/3 night break in this beautiful part of Italy.

Wonderful hidden gem right in the middle of everything! Just a door with a small sign and a flag!! Staff was awesome and friendly, room was much bigger than we expected, very clean and AC was COLD! Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. We stayed for just one night in early July.

My husband and I stayed here on our recent visit to Bergamo. What a great choice of hotel. Excellent location, beautifully presented hotel and we had a lovely superior rom overlooking the front of the hotel. The continental breakfast was fresh and plenty of choice in a delightful space which was very relaxing and had a special view to the rear and overlooked the street at the front. Fully air conditioned. Reception manned 24/7. Nothing was too much trouble. Recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing provided. Highly recommended.
