4 of the finest heritage hotels in Asia - SilverKris

"Set in a 20th-century Chinese-style home that was thought beyond repair, this intimate 19-room property retains salvaged original windows and doorways, projecting an evocative old-Shanghai vibe with fuchsia lanterns and handsome stone vessels overflowing with bougainvillea. The hotel sits close to Chareon Muang Road, a narrow strip of old teak buildings now housing creative design studios and galleries. A charming, unexpected perk is the lawn that leads down to the tree-lined Ping River, where guests can watch traditional longboats float by." - Rachna Sachasinh

The room was clean and bright. The bed was big, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was nice. ||Management should consider cleaning or changing the cover on the daybed in the room. One was afraid to sit on this piece of furniture, because it was so disgusting and covered in stains.||The front desk staff and others were extremely helpful and accommodating. Hotel Ping Silhouette was a nice place to stay. The breakfast selection was limited and lacked variety; it could definitely be improved.

Terrible experience - we booked as the pictures looked nice, it was our honeymoon, we arrived and the hotel was sooooo dated, the pictures were really old and since had become ancient. Wallpaper ripped and peeping, broken headboard, dated tv. We were in the room for 15 mins while we decided what to do, they charged us for a whole month stay even though we didn’t use any facilities. Felt a bit scam like using old pictures to attract people to book and charge them a night stay if they cancel, avoid this place it’s really dated and not worth the money!

I recently stayed at this property and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the room was beautifully decorated — clearly a lot of thought went into the design and ambiance, making it a very pleasant space to relax in. The staff were also friendly and helpful. However, there were a couple of drawbacks that impacted my overall comfort. The hotel is located on a main road, which unfortunately made it quite noisy. If you're a light sleeper, this is something to be aware of (I slept with earplugs). Additionally, the hot water in my shower ran out after just a couple of minutes, which was disappointing and made getting ready less enjoyable.

Hotel Ping Silhouette provides a wonderfully tranquil retreat amidst the vibrant energy of Chiang Mai. The staff were exceptionally attentive, offering outstanding service throughout my stay. My room was immaculate, comfortable, and equipped with all necessary amenities.|The breakfast buffet was a highlight – delicious and varied. The swimming pool was convenient, and the serene garden area (complete with air conditioning and Dyson fans) offered a perfect escape. Even the luxurious bath tub filled impressively fast. Highly recommended for a peaceful and well-serviced stay in the city

Excellent rooms with great aesthetics and amenities.. in general it is a very beautiful boutiques hotel over Ping river really close by foot from the central part of Chiang Mai and from great restaurants and coffee shops. Highly recommended if you want a luxurious plus comfortable stay in Chiang mai.

Overall, I had a good experience here — the location was convenient and the service was excellent. The room was clean and had all the basic necessities (including a hair dryer, dental care set, shampoo, shower gel, etc.). The only downside was that the TV wasn’t a smart TV.

Location is great and the hotel is beautiful. Small gripe on small things like the shower water pressure, esp for the hot water, where you need to carefully turn on/off the cold water to ensure you have enough water for the shower. Generally the shower doesn’t stay very cold. Chic but non-user friendly layout with the shower being exposed in the middle between the toilet and sink so you constantly need to tread through the wet shower to wash your hands. Housekeeping isn’t very thorough each day, random trash get left strewn around. Also, no elevator for a 3 storey property so watch out for that. All-in-all had a pleasant enough experience but might’ve expected a bit more.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Ping Silhouette and was truly impressed by the overall experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the hotel’s aesthetic appeal. The design effortlessly blends modern chic with a touch of luxury, creating an inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The hotel was impeccably clean, and I noticed that every corner, from the lobby to the guest rooms, was well-maintained. My room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured all the modern amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was particularly cozy, and I had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep after a long day of exploring. The staff was another highlight of my stay. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk team went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. They were always ready to offer helpful recommendations about local attractions and dining options. As for the location, it couldn’t have been better. Hotel Ping Silhouette is centrally located, making it easy to access both popular tourist sites and quieter, more serene spots. I appreciated the convenience of being able to walk to most places I wanted to visit, and the area around the hotel was full of great restaurants and cafes. While the hotel doesn’t boast an extensive list of amenities, the ones available were more than sufficient. I particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool, offering stunning views of the city skyline and Ping River – a perfect spot to unwind in the evenings. If I had to mention anything for improvement, it would be the speed of the Wi-Fi during peak hours, but this was a minor issue considering everything else. All in all, I had an excellent stay at Hotel Ping Silhouette. The combination of a beautiful aesthetic, spotless cleanliness, convenient location, and friendly service makes it an easy recommendation. I would not hesitate to return for another visit and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable place to stay.
