The 6 Best Hotels in Athens (Updated 2025)

"In the heart of Plaka I found Plaka Hotel comfortable and friendly, simply decorated but offering stellar Acropolis views from in-room balconies and the rooftop terrace bar/restaurant. The complimentary, huge buffet breakfast features local specialties. Rooms are on the smaller side but have comfortable beds, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and safes, and it isn’t too loud—making for a simple but comfortable stay in the center of the attractions." - Matthew Kepnes

Superb location. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Front desk service was excellent, very knowledgeable and positive. Could not be happier with the hospitality here, felt safe and and well cared for during our short stay. Clean and average sized room with balcony. With hairdryer, mini fridge, safe, toiletries in the room, and ironing board available at front desk. If you stay here, you need to visit the wonderful roof terrace restaurant and bar - fantastic view and service.

Central location with stunning views of the Acropolis from the rooftop garden and restaurant. Very comfortable bed and good standard amenities in the bathroom. We had room 205 facing the street, which was nice but quite noisy (definitely needed ear plugs), so I advise that if you cannot secure a room at the back facing the Acropolis, you ask for a room on a higher floor.|Good breakfast with a selection of hot and cold food - not the best but perfectly adequate as included in the price. A nice touch was that a lady from reception was on hand each morning to check if we needed any help with sightseeing, booking taxis, going to the airport etc.|Roof garden was lovely and open all day. The bar restaurant doesn't open until 6pm, so we went to the supermarket around the corner to purchase a bottle or 2 to enjoy in the garden instead.|The hotel is officially rated as 3 stars, but was great for our 4 night city break.

The location was great for all that we did. Sightseeing was walkable as was resturants and shopping. Had a veranda and cloths line and shared washing machine. Great view from rooftop terrace. It had what we needed. It was big enough but by no means large.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay here. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful, and Eva at the front desk was absolutely outstanding. We even had an unexpected travel complication that was unrelated to the hotel that she worked diligently to help resolve. It is rare to find such personal and professional customer service, but Eva excels at this. The rooms were of average size but were very clean and well maintained, and the beds were quite comfortable. If you are visiting Athens as a tourist it is hard to imagine a better location. The hotel is in the middle of the Plaka area surrounded by shopping and many good restaurants; with easy walking access to all of the major historical sites, and the rooftop terrace/bar/restaurant has a stunning view of the Acropolis. Any time we are in Athens THIS is where we will stay!

Hotel located in Plaka region of Athens which is the cleaner and nicer area of Athens. Stayed 4 nights in this hotel which is ideally placed within walking distance of all major historic sights and amazing restaurants. The hotel rooftop bar and restaurant gives breathtaking views of the Acropolis. Rooms are suitable for short stays, breakfast is varied hot or cold choices and fills you up. Staff are friendly. My only negatives about hotel is that rooms not cleaned daily very well and bath towels too small for larger person. Overall I highly recommend this hotel for it's location and it's breakfast.

This is the best hotel in Plaka and is conveniently located in the heart of all the action. The bed was so comfortable and the rooms are of decent size. We even had a room with a bath which was fantastic. The rooftop restaurant is sensational with amazing views of the acropolis and the food and service was fantastic. Breakfast had a great range of food especially if you require gluten free options.

Perfect location, walking distance to all! Rooms clean and well-appointed. Great breakfast assortment. Staff very helpful and assisted with getting cabs although Uber works there.

Staff is not really friendly. Don’t book a room with a balcony. There where two AC-Fans on the balcony blowing hot air right into your face. Rooftop is nice. But you have to make e reservation, because the rooftop is open to the public and staff won’t tell you to make a reservation. Location is perfect. Overall ok for one night but nothing special.
