Plaza e de Russie (Viareggio, Tuscany) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The name is a throwback to the days when Russian travelers were a substantial fraction of Viareggio’s tourist trade; today the Plaza e de Russie retains a bit of its original Belle Époque glamour, but underneath it all it’s a stylish and contemporary boutique hotel — and, needless to say, one with global appeal. The key to that, paradoxically, is its local appeal; between the beach and the Puccini connection, Viareggio is one of a kind. And in Tuscany, the cuisine is always a highlight — the hotel’s own Ristorante Lunasia is led by the Michelin-starred chef Luca Landi." - Tablet Hotels

We spent 5 nights in this hotel and enjoyed it very much. The hotel itself is a modern and minimalist renovation of a much older hotel. It’s located right by the beach so is central for everything Viareggio has to offer. We ate one evening in the Michelin starred restaurant. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, with prices to match, both as you would expect. Of particular note were the staff who were all helpful, friendly, responsive and made the stay extra special.

Lovely looking hotel and a very good location. We chose this hotel as it’s a Relais and Chateaux hotel and we have stayed in those before but it appears standards have slipped.|When we arrived the reception staff were fantastic, cheerful and very helpful, in fact they were always cheerful and helpful throughout our stay.|When we got to our room which was very clean and comfortable it obviously hadn’t been checked as for the 2 of us there was only one bath towel and one pair of slippers. We told reception and this was sorted. There is no bar in the hotel which is a shame but plenty of bars outside the hotel.|Reception sorted out a booking for a beach club for us and when we returned at about 3.30 we noticed that there was a room service tray outside the room opposite ours, it was still there when we went out|for dinner in the evening and yes you guessed it was still there later that night when we returned. I find it hard to believe that the turn down service had been round and not seen or moved the tray. Unfortunately it was still there when we went for breakfast in the morning. |We only ate breakfast in the hotel which was nothing special but at least my intolerances were well catered for.

Disappointing Honeymoon Stay – Misleading Parking Situation My stay at Hotel Plaza e de Russie - Relais & Chateaux has been incredibly frustrating, especially for what was supposed to be a special honeymoon experience. The biggest issue was the complete lack of available parking. Despite circling the hotel for over 30 minutes, I couldn’t find any public parking nearby. Nowhere during the booking process—not on their website nor in any communication—was it mentioned that parking is extremely limited or that a reservation was required in advance. The only note was about parking fees, which misleadingly implied availability. To make matters worse, when I called the hotel beforehand to arrange honeymoon packages, not a single employee mentioned the parking situation. Had I known, I would have made arrangements or even reconsidered staying here. For a luxury hotel under the Relais & Chateaux brand, this lack of transparency and poor communication is unacceptable, especially for guests celebrating important occasions like a honeymoon. The added stress completely overshadowed what should have been a memorable experience. I expected better from a hotel of this caliber and would not recommend it to anyone who requires parking or clear communication from staff.

We had the super-suite at the top of the hotel, a trio of fabulous rooms, bedroom, dining, sitting. Outside is a huge terrace, not overlooked and a jacuzzi. Seriously, this is my kind of place. Staff kind of worked, we had some negotiations as to parking, if you do go RESERVE PARKING! But it all worked out. Elegant and fun. I wish they'd dump the downstairs seating area, and put in a martini bar, three cold draft beers and a wine offering. I would! Anyway, loved it, one of the best in Italy, Seriously- that good!

The hotel was underwhelming to say the least. Not sure what gives it a 5* rating if I'm being honest. You are essentially just paying for a room. There are no amenities like rooftops, bars, pools etc which TBF they don't claim to have but even the partnership with a beach they have, you can only get the furthest from the sea row for €30. The room is nice, clean and modern though the shower pressure was a gentle trickle of water. The breakfast was a real let down and not at all what you'd expect from 5*. You can't ask for eggs that aren't powdered or boiled unless you want to pay an extra €10 and much of what they had appears to be left over from yesterday, I even saw a rotten peach in the fruit basket. I don't however want to detract from the service. The people there at reception and housekeeping were all excellent and very kind. However the hotel itself is not value for money!

The location is perfect. The hotel is wonderful, with beautiful, clean rooms. We ate many meals here and the food is incredible. We enjoyed trying the Michelin restaurant. The food was equally beautiful, delicious and abundant. Most importantly, the service was incredible, from the front desk staff to the restaurant servers. We highly recommend this hotel in a beautiful resort town.

Horrible stay. Staff sent us on a wild goose chase - the wrong direction to our reserved restaurant . We completely missed our reservation thanks to them. When confronted - they outright lied though we had the handwritten map given to us. Complaining to the manager- he said it was no big deal.
