Stayed for 2 nights post Cruise. It is located close to the main shopping area and a good selection of restaurants. Staff were pleasant and helpful , rooms were large and comfortable. We did experience loud noise from the plumbing when nearby rooms used their facilities which disturbed us during the night which is the only reason for not 5 stars.

Would not return. Location is awful. Surrounded by pee filled sidewalks, homeless sleeping in entryways and young men in a haze of marijuana. No AC in our first room-the receptionist said the AC in “that block” don’t work well. Don’t get rooms 501 or 601 (maybe all X01?). If you leave your key in the master slot to keep AC going during the day so it’s not as hot, the maid will take it. I overheard several customers complaining about AC. Lots to eat at breakfast but most of it bad quality, except for the fresh omelette station. Coffee terrible. Room smells like cigarette smoke every evening starting at 8pm. Ugh. Outside rooftop terrace bar has a good view for a drink although smoking is allowed and food is terrible. Loud techno music is for the young staff since no customers there were under 50. Only one hot elevator worked for our several nights stay so people crammed in together. Couple times had to wait in line to get an elevator. Bright spots: The restaurant at dinner had well prepared food for a good price and good service. Nice bed, nicely appointed rooms in our upgrades, maid service daily, nice soaps and conditioner, good water pressure. Competent receptionists. If you are a couple, ask for an extra pillow and towel when you check in-otherwise you start with bare minimum. It’s all about leadership.

Staying in this classy older hotel will make you feel special with friendly helpful staff, large comfortable room, on-site restaurant, fully equipped bar with live music and snacks and a delicious full breakfast. Located in a walkable area in the area of government buildings with easy walk to the subway. Not your typical cookie cutter new hotel and reasonably priced. You won't be disappointed.

This is a beautiful classic hotel in the heart of Santiago. Santiago sights are very walkable from here. The Metro and buses are steps away. I arrived early in the morning expecting to leave my bags but I was given a room at no extra charge. The coffee and breakfast served everything you could possibly want. The room is large so you can take your time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. The public spaces are large and offer comfortable seating.|From being greeted and welcomed by Juan G. who allowed me to check in early, answered questions and provided assistance when requested, to my check out two days later I can truly say this was one of the nicest hotel stays ever.|I can’t imagine there is a better place to stay than Hotel Plaza San Francisco.

Lovely old school hotel. Old fashioned decor but very well kept. Big room, comfy bed. Professional and friendly staff. Wifi a bit slow. ||Great bathroom but could be brighter. Jetted tub, good shower. ||Very good location to historic district. Very walkable.||Breakfast had many choices though very busy one morning. Omelette/ egg station, tons of fruit and pastries.

I felt totally ripped off staying here, the rooms have not been updated since it was built, presumably in the 1960 or 70s based on the interior. The air conditioning didn't work and the rooms barely cleaned, I know this as one of the glasses used for mouth wash was 'washed' but still smelt strongly of mouthwash so at best it was rinsed at worst it was just flipped over. The wifi didn't work, we could connect but couldn't load a webpage. I had expected we would get bottled water in our room as we had in EVERY other hotel we stayed in over the 3 weeks of travel. Arriving at 11pm on Christmas day, nothing was open for us to get water so we had to go back to reception to ask for water. It was a real inconvenience for the guy on the reception desk to do this for us. The breakfast was reasonably good but this is in no way a 5 star hotel, I'd say it's probably a 3 star on a good day.

If you like walking around the city and going to local shops and grocery stores and stopping in random places for an empanada, this hotel is excellently located for that. There is a pedestrian-only zone right across the street that goes for a long way. Lots of people during the day, felt safe. Uber works great from this location to see most anything nearby that isn't within walking distance. Most if not all Tripadvisor tours have this hotel listed as one of the pickup locations. Metro station across the street that gets you to Pajaritos bus station where you can take a bus to other cities such as Valparaiso. I was glad that I decided to make the trip from the airport to stay here, rather than stay in a hotel closer to the airport. The hotel and rooms are old, but not in a completely run-down way. My biggest complaint is that the jacuzzi tub jets were not very clean and made me not want to use the tub.

Yelp
This is an old fashioned 5 star hotel complete with doormen, porters and you get to sit down in an armchair in front of an elaborate desk when checking in. Got a king bed room in the 01 tier facing the main blvd - was told it's an upgrade so more like a suite with sitting area divided from the bedroom by a heavy duty TV stand with shelves. Overall a very nice room except for one thing - the bedroom shares a wall with the elevator shaft so there is a constant faint but very audible dinging sound all day long except for 5-6 hours in the middle of the night. Mentioned this to the staff, am pretty sure other guests must have noted it before but they said they don't know about it. So just keep this in mind. Can't be sure it's the elevator as you don't always hear it when standing in front of them but there is no other explanation. Other than that, the location is excellent, breakfast with egg station offers a huge selection. Service is good - on day of our departure the front blvd was completely blocked to traffic by a citywide demonstration and we would have missed our flight without the hotel's assistance.

Yelp
Loved our stay with Hotel Plaza San Francisco! Definitely would like to stay here again when we visit Santiago. Great service, delicious brekkie, comfortable room, and I loved the sauna! The location is very convenient to Mercado Centrale, Plaza de Armas, Santa Lucia. The hotel has a nice old charm and I enjoyed the live music in the lobby (at the highly recommended restaurant) in the evenings. The gym, swimming pool and sauna are indoors and located on the -1 floor. There are lockers with towels and slippers when you visit the gym, swimming pool or sauna.

Yelp
Rustic feel, Old world charm, spacious, convenient location in downtown Santiago and within walking distance to many shopping areas, restaurants. Extremely helpful staff. Comfortable room with good beds. The safe in our room wasn't working, we had to call them many times but the maintenance staff couldn't speak or understand English but the staff at reception could. Good breakfast options. They even have an option for coffee and bread only in the lobby if starting the day early. Tried their restaurant for empanadas and drinks - were good. Overall, the stay was pleasant.

Yelp
Really great hotel in a convenient location. I definitely loved the rustic, old fashion feel of Hotel Plaza San Francisco. the rooms were clean, the beds were large & spacious, and the bathroom even included robes! The fitness room was clean and a pool is included as an amenity. Free wifi is also a major plus for foreigners :) Oh, and free breakfast! And the staff is helpful with suggestions & very friendly. They held my bags for me & my friend for a few days until we actually stayed with them (as per my request) because we were going to hike Patagonia for a few days prior to our hotel stay. The receptionist also helped us book a tour prior to our re-arrival into Santiago, aiding us with a better suggestion & helping us save money! Win-win! One last thing I loved about this hotel was that they had their own private shuttle to the airport & it costed the same amount as a taxi (if not, cheaper because some taxis try to rip you off). A major help for travelers, thank you!!!

Yelp
Location: right in the heart of Santiago downtown Customer Service: 5 stars+++! They were helpful in every way. They let us leave our luggage at the hotel before we went off to hike in Patagonia. They also arranged a tour for us to Valparaiso & Vina del Mar for our last day there, which picked us up from the hotel and made everything easier. Breakfast: Buffet style, AMAZING food, so much variety AND they have pão de queijo and giant peach slices Rooms: Huge, spacious and clean! Comfy beds. Wifi: FREE
